I think it’s hard for us to imagine this song’s impact at the time. I have a friend who was in his early teens when this came out in the summer of ‘65. He tells a story about being at the lake where the loudspeakers piped radio out over the crowds. This song came on and immediately blew everyone away. Would’ve been awesome!

I was 14 when this came out in 1965 and the AM radio stations would play it hourly being the summer and off from school we could hear it played often. There was nothing that like this sound before and its epic riff! It was one of the first 45 records that I bought.

I thing the "cigarettes" line was just another knock on the bullshit of consumerism and advertising, as you pointed out earlier. They used to say "Real Men Smoke Marlboro," which means nothing in real life...as he said.

My father was a pro drummer when he was dying of cancer I would drive back and forth from the Veterans Administration and I would listen to satisfaction about four times as it was a 20-minute Drive he would tell me to pay very very close attention to how Charlie Watts was able to keep very very good time with the drumming but what people really really like the most with was the guitar Rift in the vocals that got people hooked Charlie Watts is severely underrated rest in peace

He was replaced by Mick Taylor for some years, and then Ronnie Wood after yje Faces broke up and Rod Stewart went solo.

That was the song that broke the Stones worldwide. The most important song of their career, way back in May 1965.
It was also the song that changed my life when I first heard it in early March 1983.

Charlie Watts RIP! Otis Redding, with backing from Booker T & the MG's and a row of horns, burned through a super-soulful take-me-to-church performance of "Satisfaction" at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival. And Devo dropped their cover in 1977. My buddies and I weren't sure what to make of it back then, but its groove holds up and its quirkiness remains interesting. 6 million views of the video for that. Check both covers out when you can.

The blond was Brian Jones and the Stones changed a lot after his death.

A complete song through and through. Few bands manage to cover all the bases in one track but this one does. One of those rare songs that just isn't long enough. Check Hall of the Mountain King by Savatage. Checks all the boxes as well

That was Brian Jones. It was Brian Jones who formed the Stones. He played guitar, harmonica, mellotron, sitar, organ, dulcimer and just about anything he laid his hands on. Brian died in July 1969.

Three cheers for Charlie Watts, RIP. Thanks for doing this Jay.
Do you think the vocals were mixed a little too low on this?

It might be fun to do the song they just released during Covid, which is kind of about the isolation of Covid lockdowns and Covid stress in general. It's called Ghost Town. It's pretty good.
