- Hey guys! Today is kind of a different video for me. I'm trying something I've never done before and experimenting with face painting, body painting, wigs, and DIY costumes in order to turn myself into a cupcake. Let's say it's in the name of Halloween....even though I kinda just wanted to do this regardless lol.
I went for a cupcake because it's kind of my go to design. I've painted and drawn so many cupcakes over the course of my videos. I'm pretty much obsessed with making cupcake art. So, this seemed like the perfect option!
I am a total novice when it comes to face painting, so this is a super easy face paint design. I know I'm probably making some big mistakes with the technique, but go easy on me, I'm trying 😂. I have also created and easy DIY costume using clothes I already had in my closet and basically just decorating them. I think the final look came out very interesting haha. For someone has never done cosplay before she did an AMAZING job! My first attempts were so bad, but she did so good! The face paint came out great, and the shorts were ADORABLE! Spot on for the cupcake. It takes lots of practice and learning. You got this Moriah!!! ❤

Cosplayer here! Here are some tips, should you want them.
1. You can secure the wig to a stand with pins. If your stand can't support pins, double sided tape has worked for me in a pinch. 2. Good hairspray is great for holding together more complex styles. If you want the wig to have a hold nearly forever though, you can use spray glue (in a well ventilated area) 3. When painting your face for long term and comfortable wear, just use liquid makeup. It holds up much better, and is less likely to cause skin irritation or acne breakouts or anything. Plus it's actually safe to use on eyelids, unlike the face paint, which can chip and fall into your eyes and cause damage. They make some highlighters that are pure white, so I would suggest that in this case. Or foundation marketed towards old school goths. As for the pink, you can actually use shades of eye shadow to pigment white makeup, making the perfect tone for your project. After it dries you can use the eye shadow directly to add shades and highlights.

Wig styling tips from a cosplayer:
Place a sewing pin into the top of the wig to hold it onto the wig head.
Put the wig head on a tripod to keep it steady and sturdy.
A wide tooth comb would have been best to brush out that curly wig to avoid it frizzing out
You really got the wrong type of wig for an updo so seeing wefts is to be expected.

Some tips from a casual cosplayer with some years of experience:
-when styling a wig you can use pins to secure it to the styrofoam head so it won't slip around as much!
-stiff hairspray is great for keeping cartoon hairdoos in place
-when the wig is on your head bobby pins are great to secure it to your head by fastening it to your hair (provided the type of wig cap allows it)
-when applying facepaint it should preferably be in thin layers to avoid the issues of cracking and allow you to emote. don't worry about it not being completely opaque, especially with white
-applying with a sponge for big areas is quicker and ensures more even coverage
you did a pretty good job here for your first time styling and painting! The bun of the hair looks great and the details on your face paint works really well. There is a difference in costumes and cosplay of outfits made for photography and made for interacting with people, and this is a nice work for an on camera one! the colours look great together! if you wanna try something like this again it would be awesome to see what you do, especially with your attention to detail!

I can't imagine how satisfying it feels to just get it off.
I can tell you, its pretty dang satisfying. The wig is always the best part- your sweaty, compressed scalp is suddenly freed, and you get the rush of wind in your hair. Taking off the makeup? Thats the nasty part. Gotta scrub at your skin, and it gosh darn hurts
