    That’s an ultra-premium price for any bourbon. I think that stuff is made for people that just want others to know they’re drinking expensive whiskey. Thankfully I’ve had a store that’s had calumet 16 for $99 since the beginning of the year and I’ve picked up 4 bottles in the last couple months.

      Actually it's for those of us who literally have everything else. And multiple bottles of it. Im just on a quest to taste other stuff. Most people chase pappy, blantons, birthday bourbon, etc. I get it all every year. I want something different. Idc to show off cause the people I drink with have everything too. We just want to share new stuff

    I have a chance to buy it at $375+tax but it might be a pass. Not a Calumet 16 fan because of the oak effect. Damn!! That's what Deb & I said about Calumet 16, furniture polish! I traded my open bottle for an opened Larceny C922. Oddly enough, I do like Sam Houston and have a Rare Character Barton sourced hazmat that I like. I like the cherry notes.

    That’s what is so difficult about the Augusta products is the price. 400$ as srp knowing it’s going to get jacked higher before you can get it. That better be bordering on once in a lifetime type whiskey!

    • @DrumsAndDrams
      @DrumsAndDrams  2 месяца назад +1

      Exactly!! If their prices came down and they saved the $400 ask for a 20yr in the future (which, based on this release, would be that “once in a lifetime” kind of whiskey), I’d be all about it.

    Nice review. The only one I’ve had is the Augusta 10. It beat out 9 other 10 years in a blind for me. I can imagine age helping that out even more. I do agree that the calumet 16 is wonderful.

    Just picked up a bottle today. I already cracked it. And it's f*#£in' fantastic. I also got the heavy cherry note on the nose. Nutmeg type baking spice with light oak. But the oak changed from tannic to sweet oak as it opened up. This is MY absolute flavor profile, personally. I can't wait to review it on my channel too with my buddies. Give it a little while to get some air and open up. It may actually be a buy & back it up for me. Cheers🥃

    Ill never see this, but thank you for the review, making me frown now. LOL! Also, I am sure that Alex Castle, MD, would love to be on a stream with you! Call it a hunch!

    I have a Lucky Seven 15 year Proprietor SiB (Barton) . It’s ~134 proof and cost me $179. All of my Proprietors have been delicious. I just don’t see the $400 valuation. Maybe $250? It’s a moot point anyway. I’ll never see it. I’d be happy with a 13 year lol. Given the chance, I’d pay up for an EW 23 once in a lifetime. Thank you for the great content!

      The 10yr I believe is. I’m not certain this 17yr would be. Though if they confirmed to you that the 17yr is, that would be interesting. It just seems that bc other folks are also releasing 17/18yr Barton, it tracks that this would be the same, since we don’t really know of others that are getting 17yr HH.

    Great review! Appreciate the honesty regarding price, especially with how much you clearly loved the whiskey. I’ve been getting backups+ of cal 15&16 for about half MSRP in auctions… so I’ll stick to that😂

    I love Augusta. I own the Route 8, the 10 yr....wasn't able to get my hands on the 13 or 15. I was just down there and they had pours of the 17...so I got to try it and it was amazing. Like you though, the price point is too much. I wouldn't say that this is 250 dollars better than their 10 yr. They have 15 barrels that they are using for this bourbon. The initial release was barrel 1...they will be releasing them periodically.

    Hey Cam. these just hit my area. I splurge on bottles semi-often, so $400 isnt end of world. In your opinion should i pull trigger or get a backup RR15 for $400 on secondary. thanks

    Can we get a comparison to Lucky seven 14/15 yr, that is Barton no? Single barrel, barrel strength

    How would you compare the Buckners 17 to their 13 (which has become impossible to find)...is it worth the SRP jump?

    • @DrumsAndDrams
      @DrumsAndDrams  2 месяца назад +1

      I’d stick with 13 given the profile to price difference. Unfortunately I ran out of my 13. I remember when it collected dust in Ohio! Now it’s nowhere to be found.
