@@duartelucas5746and today, past their heyday, to most people they're kind of a jokey "bro bro" music chapter. I find that not a whole lot of people mention them anymore when talking about their favorite bands, etc. It's just like, "oh dope that Drive song is in Beef."
@@cpellett0821 But that’s because they had a couple of songs that crossed over to the mainstream. Which I think it’s great, otherwise a lot of people wouldn’t have heard about them. The people that listened to their albums and followed them will see them in a way, those “bros” you mention will see them in a different way, which is totally fine.
Not many bands that can keep their own shit together for 27 years, let alone be stand-up, real men who care about their fans & the environment. Incubus is life.
LIKE EDDIE VEDDER AND THE BOY'S OF PEARL JAM....AND A.C.D.C. FOR AS BIG AS THEY ARE NEVER NOT STOP AND SIGN AUTOGRAPHS FOR FANS...WHO THE FUCK IS THIS INTERVIEWER
"More subtle than something someone contrives, your movements echo that I have seen the real thing. " Probably to this day one of the best lines I've ever heard in the song, I do not know why it just resonates with me
I grew up to Incubus. Their music brings back really fond memories during high school. I would love to talk to them and just chill, they seem so laid back and down to earth.
I've been a huge fan of the guys for almost 20 years and this Is by far my favorite "interview" they've ever done. Mainly because Stryker asked questions that I've always hoped they would be asked and never were, like was It on bad terms when Dirk left the band etc.. Also the band is usually very playful or vague when answering questions that they get repeatedly so they seemed to be happy about the refreshing/unpredictable questions.
Good interviewer. Interesting questions for a change, and the host knows when to let the guests talk. You really get to know the band in this interview.
Started getting into Incubus in middle school, 1999. Greatest time to be thirteen and exploring more rock bands. I listened to pop music as well, but Incubus is happy music to my ears. I was lucky to see them perform live on two separate occasions: 2009 and 2011 at Northerly Island in Chicago. The band's music kinda makes you think more about life in general, maybe even the energy you feel when you listen to the music a lot deeper. 😎
A really great interview. Mike's memory is astounding and sure stirs up some really old memories and feelings for me. Looking back now, it's funny to think how hearing one record on MTV has really changed the direction of probably quite a few lives, not just my own....
Saw Brandon at Ralph's Market in Malibu, Ca, 2001. I was living in my Toyota 4Runner. He was with some woman that was walking ahead of him like she was pissed. He looked over at me and caught be staring at the celeb. I was a big Incbus fan then, so it was super cool and random. Man time flies.
I think when Ben sings some songs with Brandon, he balances out really nicely....Brandon's voice is outstanding alone, he's a great lead singer of the band..But that little touch now and then to a song, Ben brings to it is great too...I really like this band, there is something about all the guys..They really seem like nice guys who get along great together..I like that about them, and with that they make great music together.
Longtime fan of Incubus. I grew up in OC, California. I would roll into bionic records in Fulllerton Ca. weekly. I remember going there in one afternoon in 1997. The drummer from a local band Longfellow was working the counter, I was going through the used CD's. The song "A Certain Shade of green" came on. I looked over at him and I said is the rest of this album as good as this song? He said yes it is. I said I need this Disk right now. I saw them a couple of months later at the Showcase theater in Corona, Ca. and the at the Barn in Riverside. I somehow managed to snag The record release tickets to make yourself record release party which happened at the Roxy in LA. First time i met Chris Kilmore. Nicest guy. I said whats the setlist for tonight? He said what do you want it to be? i said "Redesign" and then all the new stuff and then it happened....
Started listening to them in '98 when I heard Favorite Things, and I've been addicted since. As my music tastes evolved I listened to them less at times, but I've never not loved all that they put out. What a journey.
See, here's the thing bout their greatness..They evolve! Songwise & Appearance. Dudes progress & it suits them very well. Unlike other bands in the same era that have same sound of music upto now.. these guys always give us something different yet we us listeners knows it has this "INCUBUS TOUCH" that it'll surely be a bop
"oh yeah we used to play all those old school metallica songs, and really looked up to Korn, and system of a down and 311" Gah, no wonder they are amazing.
This interview was awesome because the interviewer was clearly a fan of the band. But regardless, INCUBUS will come down as one of our generations greatest bands EVER!
They stand firm and never falters. That's how passionate they were they're brothers with each others. They sort of have those hip hop artists mindsets like fame, wealth, pots etc.. but they remain private and discreet with their private lives.
There was a rock station here in Connecticut, WCCC 106.9, that played New Skin heavily in 1997. I can remember driving home from work at night and the station would play the song at about the same time every night. They played it at other times as well. Based on that one song, I went out and bought SCIENCE. Yeah, the example is just one radio station in one state but I have to believe there were other stations that discovered Incubus at the same time and started to play their music.
They completely skipped over Gavin Koppel aka DJ Lyfe's period with the band. lol. They must really hate that guy. EDIT: Oh, yeah. I completely forgot Kilmore had a restraining order against Lyfe when Lyfe threatened to kill him.
I wish they would talk more about the Korn/Snot/ Hed PE/SOAD era. When all these bands (except for Korn) were underground and represent a new wave of metal or hardcore with crossover groove sounds.
Mom totally had a copy of TJS tucked away on the shelf in the master bedroom. An original hard cover copy. GenX, we grew up O.G.! The 70's, 80's, 90's and the top of this millennia rules forevermore.
ben kennedy is fucking awesome. its a bummer to see all these comments about dirk vs ben. dirk was the best fit during the dirk era, and ben has been the best fit since. i bought science in high school and absolutely loved it, but honestly, the most rip roaring kickass incubus cd is crow left of the murder. sick sad little world is utterly insane, one of the best songs I've ever heard in my life. its from after dirk. cheers to ben kennedy for being a badass. he introduced a more "focused yet jammy" thing to their sound.
Incubus never gets the recognition that they deserve. They were ahead of their time and their sound is so unique...
No? They wrote a bunch of records, toured the world to sold out audiences and sold millions of records lol
They'll be a modern day led Zeppelin.

Incubus has something special. It never tires me out. I just got addicted to “Echo” an underestimated jewel of this beautiful and unique band.
LOVE that song

Best Incubus interview Ive ever heard.
Jose has been one of my most influential drummers throughout my 20 years of drumming. Love you bro.
This is probably the best interview with the band I've seen, and I've seen, read and heard a lot.
Same... I've literally watched everything they've done.. No very seriously, E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G. Great Interview!
Same my dude! And I’ve read, seen and heard just about everything! I’m almost pleasantly obsessed with this band if that’s even a thing lol
Do they ever talk about drug use?? I’ve watched and read a bit and have always been curious how much they’ve used psychedelics.
@@brianredman6153 Brandon does. It's in a solo Interview
This sounds like an echo chamber for lonely people who have nothing better to do than repeat what another poser said.

Great interview! You can feel and see the love between the band, that is why I love them so much. Please never stop making music!
