I just found Henning recently.i don't write songs or know the price, but 50+ hours...the guy is clearly talented and knows his stuff. He seems really fun,funny genuine and compelling. And I'll bet the course would be a great resource.im just not totally sure what the skill level is.for most of us self taught folks, it's hard to get us into this stuff with very very little music knowledge in terms of theory,so it could be a real miss for those who barely know anything on a technical level. From all the previews I've seen,it seems like a legit course. I didn't realize he was friends with so many in this community.he seems like a great dude and I'm getting into his stuff lately. As for this video , I don't know who you are but I will subscribe.i don't like actual "shills",which isn't the right term.I just don't like the ones who push stuff they wouldn't use themselves, while saying stuff like "these t shirts, like no kidding, I actually wear em quite a lot like legit they're comfy"

Right but you kind of are shilling Henning's product? Being sarcastic doesn't make it less true. At least you're being honest! The thing with Harley Benton though - they obviously send youtubers a well set up/qc'd one, but for everyone else it's a roll of the dice. I might be wrong but didn't Glenn order one anonymously and the guitar turned out horrible? That happened with KDH, the thing was unplayable. But everything youtubers get sent to review is magically an amazing specimen, so they can plug it on their channel as if everyone will get the same quality. I do love your channel though Colin, no hate here, you opened the discussion with this particular vid.
Of course I'm shilling Henning's product, that's literally the point of the video. The sarcasm is making fun of people like you who are slow on the uptake and think they've figured out my big secret when they point out that the content I've openly disclosed as containing paid promotion was actually paid promotion. You're not as clever as you think you are.
You are also entirely misinformed on the Harley Benton situation. Thomann ships my orders the same way they ship everyone else's: They have a large scale, mostly automated warehouse where orders get logged in the computer system, which prompts giant robots to collect bins of stock from huge shelving units, send them across conveyor belts to the packaging facility where the system selects the appropriate sized box for shipping and then for the first time in the process a human being puts the product in the shipping box and affixes the label. That packing guy has no idea who I am and doesn't care, it's just another shipment to pack alongside the hundreds of other identical shipments that day.
The only difference between the way my orders are processed and your orders are processed is that I send SKU requests to my HB contact and they compile the order with authorisation to ship without payment being received.
As flattering as your suggestion is, I am not a big enough entity compared to the colossus of Thomann's shipping facility for everyone working there to take time out of their day to cherry pick special guitars for me. I've ordered plenty of HB products as a customer where I've gone through the website and paid money like everyone else, do you know how many bad products I've received that way? None.
Sometimes products have flaws, eventually someone is going to get a flawed unit. The odds are that happens to a customer because on pure numbers there are more of them than there are RUclips reviewers - but it's cool you found two examples of when that did actually happen to review channels. So you seem to have negated your own point.
And while I mean no disrespect to either Glenn or KDH, is it really all that surprising that the channels who trade on always finding things to complain about found things to complain about?
Hey dude, thank you for your reply. I think I've misunderstood some things here. First off, I've followed your videos for years and years and always enjoyed them (especially the tech stuff), but I had no idea people were accusing you of being a shill until this video. I just saw this and thought it was aggressive. You're being sarcastic to call out people who accuse you of shilling things, but you also want to promote a product at the same time. Which is okay and cool and obviously a lot of people enjoyed it. I'm the exception, call me slow on the uptake and just trying to be clever, all right, I'm the idiot.
I think the bigger picture is that for some followers of guitar youtubers there's a fatigue for having the same products pushed on them at the same time by so many talents. Right now it happens to be Henning's course. Harley Benton, a prime example for some time now, is being forced down people's throats from many directions and you don't always know who to trust. Naturally, I don't know the process Thomann goes through to get a HB product to a youtuber, thanks for enlightening me. I always found you to be a reliable source of information and a consummate professional. I didn't enjoy this particular video, so what?
