    Thank you Mark. Not just for this video but... generally your time given freely to others. I'm very grateful. I have bought Geneva paint, the proportional scale, video, colour checker. I was floundering down a black hole after many years of painting and you through me a life line.

    Thank you so much for the video! There is no shortcut around laying the groundwork. I'm glad you talk slow - I listen slow and grasp concepts even more slowly.
    People think if you are an artist you are born with a chip in your head with all the info on it. I can't tell you how many times people had a way of making me feel ridiculous - they think taking courses is just a fun way to fill time. It made me seriously doubt my ability because when my work went badly, which was all the time, I figured I didn't have enough of what they refer to as "natural talent."
    People become accusatory on top of it - whining"I can't even draw stick figures" or "I don't have any talent" as if the fairy godmother of art has demolished all their dreams and destroyed their fantasies by deliberately overlooking them and bestowing that elusive "natural talent" on some ungrateful boho heathen. Well, maybe that's a little overly dramatic.
    It is very generous of you to share your experience with us. The demos and commentary are priceless. And it's a lovely painting of the oil jar. :)

    I received your limited palette set as a gift, and I'm enjoying it so far. The consistency takes some getting used to (I typically use Windsor & Newton), but I find that colors are easier to mix because they're all the same thickness.
    Also, if you're using a glass palette, the paint takes a long time to dry, so you're not wasting any if you want to come back to a painting after a few days.

      Hi, Mr. Carder's own Geneva paint brand is made out of linseed oil. Linseed oil forms the toughest paint film and that is why majority of the paint brands throughout the world produce paint based of this. There are various combinations on how you can modify the use or the form of linseed oil. This will depend upon what method you are following.

    • @1974gladiateur
      @1974gladiateur 8 лет назад +1

      Go on drawmixpaint.com and he as a medium recipe there on the supply list. I used it before I started to use his paint and it's wonderful. Only use it with artist grade oil paint, because the student grade doesn't have enough pigments in it so it becomes transparent when it dries.

      I bought a set of his paint. The quality of the paint is better then any I try before. There is so much pigment that in one brush stroke you cover easily the part you want. There is more pigment then any other company I try. I used to paint with Gamblin wich is supposed to be the second best oil paint on the market and change for Geneva and the difference is uged. Soft, glossy and just perfect for the artist.

    In my own field of Architecture, when developing a rendering -- especially for a public meeting or presentation -- we'd bracket the values of color-intensity and "furriness" of detail based on the viewing-distance; a "5-ft" rendering, a "10-ft" rendering or even a "25-ft" rendering for large public Board Meeting and neighborhood presentation. It's shocking how a mere suggestion of shape becomes "real" when viewed at a distance.

    I don't know what you are doing. You are not accurate, you are not accurate man, I can't exactly understand what you are, photographic painter, because you obviously don't have levels for that, extravagant artist I can't not see that coming to. You basically just paint, nothing unusual, nothing more impressive, no.

    • @immrpandabear
      @immrpandabear 8 лет назад +2

      He specifically said this was a way to paint fast and sorta sloppy. There's nothing really inaccurate about this still life painting without making it less like art and more like a photo.

    • @immrpandabear
      @immrpandabear 8 лет назад +1

      Not to mention the next video is literally when he finishes up the painting wet on dry.

    • @peacemontana56
      @peacemontana56 8 лет назад

      You don't get me, you basically said nothing. Look, this man is a weak author, he is not good, all of his paintings are useless, they don't have a point, like some 3 year old who can paint draw them. He doesn't have photographic capabilities, absurd, even still life capabilities. Simple as that, shity painter, shity paintings.

    • @immrpandabear
      @immrpandabear 8 лет назад +5

      That's your (poor) opinion nothing more, nothing less. You haven't even critiqued the painting all you did was insult him and his paintings. If anything you should feel bad in all honesty. At least take an art class and then give constructive feedback on how he can improve.

    • @peacemontana56
      @peacemontana56 8 лет назад

      From where you know I don't take art classes. I'm a graduated in oil painting and I have masters in fine arts criticism from Prague, but that's not the case. This loser don't require critic, I'm just saying that he is not good, he's actually pretty bad and it's not worth it.
      And look man, you obviously backing him for some reason but even you can't tell what is so special about his paintings. Because there's nothing there, just emptiness and stupidity. And even if such a low level of preparing can not and doesn't have to take criticism, I said that here we have lack of capabilities and big ego, something more, this man is blind to see him self and blind for everything valuable. I peacefully can say that he is the worst painter I have ever seen.
