- Queen Elizabeth is bidding a somber farewell to her husband of 73 years. The monarch appeared to wipe away a tear while arriving for Prince Philip’s funeral on Saturday. Her majesty was accompanied by a lady in waiting as she rode behind the Duke of Edinburgh’s casket and entered St. George’s Chapel alone, dressed in all black and wearing a face mask. The Queen remained solo for the ceremony as well. Covid-19 restrictions prevented more than 30 people from attending the service in person and only people from the same household could sit together.

When I was widowed and 35 I felt that half of my body was gone split straight down, but when I was widowed at 72 the sorrow is just too much to comprehend.
My husband of 42 years passed away in 2006 and it’s very hard now sometimes. I’m pretty good most of the time but yesterday I was feeling the Queen’s pain and I was sad. My father passed away 2 years ago and him and my mother were married 73 years. I have an 8 year old granddaughter who never knew my husband but loved my dad so much and still cries for him. It’s always harder for those of us left behind. He was the only man in her life who loved her.
I feel bad for the Queen, she’s lost everyone now, apart from her kids and grandkids. She’s outlived everyone she’s loved. I imagine that’s very difficult and lonely. I adore her and my thoughts and prayers are with her.
The Queen said, "Grief is the price that has to be paid for love." She got many years of love for her short period of grief until she dies. Her mother lived 50 years past her husband's death. Queen Elizabeth II had a good role model to follow. She will be ok.

My mother lost her husband @52. (he just turned 60.. dropped dead of a massive heart attack) Lost her son @ 69 (he had been only 49... blood clot) Her mother @ 32. Her sisters @ 34 & 48. Both of them younger than her & with children of their own. Her brother.... she lost her whole family. She raised 8 children. 3 of us were only teenagers. Worked her ass off. Though I feel bad when anyone dies, I have to say this woman was lucky enough to have her husband for 74 yrs. The family had their father for 73 yrs. That isn't too shappy. He was 99 yrs. old. He lived a good life. He lived a well to do life. He is with God. People die. Again, sorry he died. RIP, but he lived a long & satisfying life. Those children should be grateful for all those years. I would have given anything to have had that time with my Dad.

My mother lost her WWII Navy veteran who she was married to for 73 years just 2 years ago. My parents were a very special couple who would still hold hands and loved each very much. The men of that generation were very special, it’s a shame there are pictures of Phillip with other women flirting and drinking. My dad never did that, he only worked hard and supported his family and tried to give my mom everything she wanted. Not many people can stay married that long. I liked the Naval touch at his funeral.
And a grandson.
Then again she has had alot that no one else has she has been blessed beyond belief.

What i love is that she was trained as a mechanic at 18 and loved it. In England, back in the day, she always enjoyed a drive and my favorite story is when she pulled over during one of those drives to help someone who had broken down and actually fixed their car and got it started. Can you imagine being broken down on the side of the road and the Queen helps you get it started again?!!!

My condolences go to our Queen as she is now a widow. She is a kind, caring and very selfless person who now needs our support as she grieves the loss of her husband. Prince Phillip was very eager to serve his country and the commonwealth for so many years. May he rest in peace now.
I know a lot of people were making a big deal about them not wearing their military uniforms, but I personally think they all look so beautiful in their black morning suits

At 95 years old she has lost everyone besides her kids an grand kids an great grandkids but that still does not help with losing your parents your sister an your spouse. The elders know how to treat their spouses. I bet you she treated him like a king as well behind closed doors. The love these 2 share is something else. They stuck it out regardless of the fights they had behind closed doors. No matter what country you live in you got to respect their marriage. They truly loved each other. The British people have no reason to explain why they keep their Queen. It's the oldest continuously functioning liberal democracy in the world. They've had a constitutional monarch since the 1600s, and all them have kept their promise and reigning, not ruling.

There would have to be a reason to reform the system of government or you're just taking away titles and property without justification. The US is a federal republic, but we use English common law. Their system of government, economics, and foreign affairs is a model to the world, and since it's still in existence now they've got to be doing something right.

I feel so sorry for her. I lost my wife of 49yrs recently so I can relate to how she must be feeling after loosing her love after 73yrs. It will be a great loss to the UK when she passes, she has been the anchor for so long and will never be replaced.
