Definitely between hybrid A and Stand-up. I stay on my feet most of the time and rarely drop into a butterfly. I'm generally very patient and composed, and stand up well to aggressive shooters. I use my paddle a lot, and rely on my angles to make the save. I'd chalk it up to my size (pretty small for a goalie) and a general lack of control once I'm down.

For sure hybrid B but working on being more patient. In the beer leagues taking away the bottom of the net seems really effective but for the guys who can actually shoot I get burned a bit to much upstairs. Working more on staying patient on my edges and beating passes on my feet, rather than butterfly sliding EVERYWHERE
I think we all start out as floppers because thats where all of the highlight reel saves are as a kid. As we get older and the concrete starts to settle we are left with a much stronger foundation and respect for the position 👍
I only played goalie onceon the ice, but I love the position! After one practice, I see myself as a Hybrid 2. I love the videos and keep up the great work!
Hybrid A, I think I would find myself more in the middle if I had pads with knee stops on them but mine are old borrowed and I can’t yet afford a newer/used pair. (My first year on the ice never played before, three of my kids play so I decided to ask around and ended up on the beer league team. Always watched hockey and wanted to be a goalie. Been doing great with saves considering it’s my first year. When I get some legit pads though I’ll be able to be more affective with the butterfly. Great vid by the way I agree with the comments you make in these videos, keep it up!
Hybrid B, I am on the shorter side of the spectrum of goalies around 5'11 or 6' in that area. I have to be patient since I can give away lots of the upper side of the net, at the same time I might need to flop for a rebound since my body is not big enough to reach it.
I’m more hybrid B I go down on most shots to cover the bottom and am a taller goalie so that helps me upstairs a bit combined with a pretty good glove and blocker hand. In terms of where I want to be I would like to get to a more patient butterfly.
I think i fit in to the Hybrid A now days, im on my knees only if i need to be and even more so with age. In my junior years i was more patient butterfly.
From 96-06 playing roller I was steadily moving from stand up to Hybrid A. From 06-17 I was much closer to Hybrid A than a perfect Butterfly which is where I still am for ball hockey. I started ice in 2017 (I'm 31 now and self taught). I'm barely closer to a perfect Butterfly than Hybrid A. For now I'm ok here. I'm at a career high in everything, but still have room for improvement.
I’m somewhere between flopper and hybrid B…played in the 80’s when butterfly wasn’t a style. Today, I find myself dropping into a “semi” butterfly but then I’m stuck…no butterfly pushes or slides for me. I’m eager to learn the technique/proper movements even at 55
Hybrid B, I don’t drop until the shot but once I’m down I tend to stay down until the puck’s in the corner or out of a scoring position in general. Sometimes I’m a bit slide happy on the 2-on-1s for the first pass but I’m big and flexible so I can usually get back if it isn’t a one-touch
Hybrid B. Closer to flopper. I need to work on staying on my edges and stop going down without seeing the trajectory of the puck first. I would like to be in the center of the spectrum.
I grew up watching Hasek and Osgood the most along with brodour and JSG. I would classify myself as hybrid b. And love to bust out a windmill if needed or a dive here and there. I would love to get closer to butterfly but having the flop throws skaters off in my favor and has saved my butt many a time
Embraced my first set of butterfly style pads this past season -- been alot of re-wiring of the brain & muscle memory battles...I think I likely fall in Hybrid A territory with a conscious effort towards smart and patient butterfly....every once in a while a decent double pad stack comes out of the back pocket
I am returning to the net after 15+ years away. My previous play style mimic John Vanbiesbrouck. I played for about 20 years with that style and was highly effective at every level. I have watched the position evolve over the years and notice most goaltenders hold their glove a lot higher these days. I am wondering if my style of yesteryear would still be effective in the Beer League level.
I would probably fit into the hybrid b, when I was younger and getting into hockey I was a big time flopper, that was pretty much the only way I made my saves was basically throwing my body towards the puck. Now I’ve been able to dial things in more, however during scramble situations I still have a tendency for flopping around, maybe for better or for worse.
I've been trying to get a modern butterfly style together, but to be honest, I'm 47 years old and only playing my second season of hockey. And it's just not working out. So I may as well have fun if I'm just going to get shelled anyway: I'm going for full stand-up!
Great video, glad I found it. I find myself playing a lot of pickup or drop in hockey with different defensive style and talent each night. I would say that I flip flop between hybrid A and hybrid B depending on the defense in front of me, but also the attacking offensive players. Even in league nights I may switch between the 2 throughout the game to force the offense to change strategy. I find this to be a high risk high reward style.
stevten0222 thanks and I have years worth of videos in my brain... been doing goalie instructional videos since 1992....😎 and yes the GT is a beauty. It draws way more looks than the Lambo or the split window. Pretty rare to see one live on the road..
Hybrid B I’m in my butterfly most off the times. I would like to get to hybrid A a little bit because I’m a pretty small goalie and I need to be more up on my feet
Hasek is my favorite goalie of all time (so far), maybe thats why I am a hybrid 2 guy. I admire Price and Holtby (I would add Hellybuck) for the way they hold their edges but I go down more quickly.
@@FutureProGoaltending I've always thought of his a a reverse butterfly guy, used his arms to take away the bottom of the net and his legs to take the mid/top. Would love to get your thoughts :-)
i played against 3-4 games and saw his greatness up close. he could do anything but never quit on a puck. and yes he did stop a lot flat ice stuff with his arms
@@FutureProGoaltending wow that is so cool, what was it like to see him at the other end? Were you thinking " oh great I have to out goaltend that guy!" did the challenge of it get you going? I've probably had more arguments about Hasek than anything se goaloe related. So many friends say he was super lucky. I say you can't be lucky your entire career against the world's best shooters. Also shout out for your engagement with comments, I have been recommending this chanel to a bunch of people. Keep growing and thank you!
I don't really know where I'd be. I'm only 5 foot 8 so I'm really small for a goalie, especially considering I play at AA caliber hockey. Because I'm small I will sometimes stay up to make some high saves when they are above the circle. but I'm also extremely quick and flexible and will often make split saves. I basically play like Brodeur when the puck is far, and Jonathan Quick when the puck is in the house. Also, my stance resembles Quick's but I have my gloves more active to block more area.
I would have to say Hybrid B. I know definitely not a patient butterfly, but I'm working towards being more controlled and not rely on athleticism as much.
Hybrid A, 68 yrs old tells you that I played when dropping down too much was frowned upon by coaches, tried to stand up as much as possible only butterflying when the situation called for
I’m 54 and it was the same thing for me as a kid…. “Stay on your feet!” I was a butterfly/ flipper and when I got to Vancouver Kirk McLean was the model and their goalie coach Jack McCartan tried to change me into a stand up goalie at training camp on the fly. You can imagine how that went
Steve, seeing that you're from Essex you are probably familiar with the Chatham Maroons hockey club, I was a member of the 72-73 team coached by a great coach ,the late George Aitken, who probably helped me the most with my game back then, great team and a great bunch of guys
Was that a new project car on the side of the driveway? I'm between patient butterfly and hybrid A, but what I wouldn't give for today's knowledge exchange and equipment technology, especially the pads, when growing up. A well worn Jacques Plante goaltending book at the school library was my only goalie coach! And it was already ancient and outdated by the time I laid hands on it LOL.
That is an old continental with body work done. Just waiting on paint, drivetrain and interior. My current shop is only 5 minutes from my lake house so it convenient while my shop on the lake is being built. And yes I had that Plante book. It was gold. My age group (53) also had no goalie training growing up.
@@FutureProGoaltending I thought maybe a Continental. We had a parts girl at the Lincoln dealer at one point that drove one like that. Had the suicide doors. Not sure what year hers was (late 60's). She was 5 foot nothing and probably weighed 80 pounds soaking wet so it was an odd combination!
Good Morning Coach. I would like to think of myself of at least between hybrid B and patient butterfly. but I have been known to flop, from time to time. hope you are well. Thanks Coach.
TheGodCent excluding unicorns, if you aren’t playing (starring) Major Junior, legitimately starring in D1 or dominating in Europe top leagues. Then I would say the age thing doesn’t come into play as they wouldn’t be considered. Just my opinion could be wrong
Where would you put a prime Roberto luongo? I'd say he was the hybrid between flopper and patient butterfly but more toward patient butterfly. Depends which team he was playing for. When he was in Florida at the beginning of his career, he was forced to flop more due to the amount of shots he was facing every night playing on a really weak Florida team. When he was in Vancouver during their best years he was a pretty masterful butterfly goalie.
I would agree. I think the only technical issue with him from looking at my old prescouts I did with the Leafs would be his tendency to end up on all fours many times a game during scrambles
Couldn't click on this video fast enough 😎.. if I'm anywhere on the scale I think I'd be between patient bf and stand up leaning more to stand up. I try to set up in a low stance and try not to over play things. To me it's wasting energy flopping all about the crease playing desperately. I need to conserve all the energy I have 😄
Hi Steve, As a parent of an 11 year old goalie, we love your videos. First time I have seen a Style Continuum graphically depicted. My son is a combination Hybrid B and Patient Butterfly. He is working toward the center of the line, and there are times he makes plays like Jonathan Quick who I think might be more of a Hybrid B goalie (please correct me if I am wrong about Quick).
Thanks for the nice feedback. I think your description of your son is right on. You will like Fridays video where I explain rebound control prioritization......thanks for watching. Where do yo guys play?
Kent Valley Ice Centre in Kent Washington. The Seattle Thunderbirds practice at our facility when Showare Center is occupied. Still waiting for Trav to post on RUclips the livestream with you on April 11th.
Steve, we watched Trav's Hellebuyck video before yours, and saw approx 4 mins of the livestream. Is that all there was on April 11th? That was a warmup. Your site and Travs are valuable in that you both offer insights into what it takes to be a goalie. I can show my kid drill videos all day long from different channels, but his mental development needs input from guys who know what it takes to get to higher levels of hockey.
Tim Thomas probably slots into Hybrid B. I'm likely Hybrid B and I think that suits me best. I understand the theory that you could get more success out of being right in the middle, but I don't agree this is applicable 100%. I don't think Hasek or Brodeur would be better as middle butterfly goalies. I think that learning to be the patient butterfly type is the best method to hone your skills but as you become stronger you need to adapt your most useful unique abilities into your game.
I'm 43 and only started up playing about 1 year ago. I play inline hockey in Queensland Australia. Obviously, just play for my local team. If anything, I'm a flopper. I stay in the butterfly ready position all the time and don't stand up. I'm not a great skater and knees are a bit messed up. So I find getting up and down hard. Since doing this, I have started to damage my hips. So I must try and stand up and only go down as I need to. Did anyone else do this (staying in butterfly) when they started off? Aiming for the middle!
Focus on preparing your body with pre and post stretching so regardless of style decisions you stay injury free. Getting hurt coming back is highly predictable.
Hybrid B for Beer League LOL. I'm only 5'8 and my conditioning could be better so it's like an equation of maximize blocking area with the least energy. I'm like anti Trav: short, old, slow.
I'd have to honestly rate myself as a hybrid B. I say that because I'm told I stand up more than most, That being said I know I drop too early and of most of the pictures I have taken , Im on the ice.
I’m a Hybrid B between PatientButterfly/Floppy. I am confident in my butterfly power-pushes to keep the ice sealed and move far distances quickly, but I help myself out when I hold my edges in my stance. I also feel like Jonathan Quick would fall under this same category. Any thoughts on his style of play?
I'd say I'm between a stand up and a Hybrid A Aim to stay on my feet as long as possible and move across the net on my skates rather than my knees. I feel it's getting harder for goalies like me as new kit just isn't designed with us in mind 🥺
Probably Hybrid B, but I've been told between A and patient butterfly is more accurate. I assume the average person is Hybrid B, trying to butterfly while also occasionally flailing. I always felt like I flopped a little bit, but from the outside perspective was told that I was more patient and would wait instead of showing my hand. It's all relative though, I guess. My preference was to play the Puck and recover, not lay down Not to say I didnt get a cool save with my toe on a flop at least once
Personally, I think I fit about half-way between Patient butterfly and Hybrid B. If I were to pick and NHL goalie that I think represents the Hybrid B well, it would be Jonathan Quick. I'm kinda between him and Holtby....with a LOT less skill lmao.
@@FutureProGoaltending nowhere NEAR hahaha With being a rent-a-goalie, and paying for my seasons, I'd say I break even and simply don't pay to play on my season...but there's no income from hockey that's for sure.
Where does the goalie that overuses the butterfly reside in this scale? I see a lot including some nhl goalies that resort to the butterfly way too soon and too much.
I likely consider my style as somewhere between Hybrid B and the Patient Butterfly - but DEFINITELY closer to the Hybrid B than the Patient Butterfly.......... I said ‘likely’ because I’ve made a major assumption in my own rating.
David Pierini yes. I played against him 3-4 times in the minors and saw his greatness up close. He never quit on pucks and although he seemed at times to be mindlessly flopping, he has a genius ability to use anticipation and structure that allowed him to keep the best shooters in the planet at bay for over a decade. He had a skill set that can’t be taught or understood. True great.
@@FutureProGoaltending Thank you so much for the thoughtful response. I love your channel and have a new appreciation for what could be the most unique position in all of sports.
Hey ummm future pro what was Hasek's style because i was going through highlights and ......... Good lord its like hes throwing himself at the puck but he means to do it
Honestly I think I'm too early in the game to make an acurate assessment. Just because I'm still too inconsistent for that, but in a scramble I'm 100% a flopper. lol. Im definitely too reactionary, I need to be better in a blocking butterfly and learn too use it and when. I also struggle with being square to the puck but also staying square in relation to the net. And being a rookie I'm assuming my fundamentals are more then atrocious. Lol ..
@@FutureProGoaltending I would say desire, dedication, work ethic and apparent natural ability.. Technically.. My hand eye is pretty good especially on my blocker side. I'm a decent skater, situational awareness, Body control and agility/athletisism, I'm not afraid to be aggressive and being 6'3" 250, I try to use my size to my advantage. Im confident and don't allow myself to overthink or get down myself.

I’m more hybrid B I go down on most shots to cover the bottom and am a taller goalie so that helps me upstairs a bit combined with a pretty good glove and blocker hand. In terms of where I want to be I would like to get to a more patient butterfly.
Smart choice
I think i fit in to the Hybrid A now days, im on my knees only if i need to be and even more so with age. In my junior years i was more patient butterfly.
Time changes many things
From 96-06 playing roller I was steadily moving from stand up to Hybrid A. From 06-17 I was much closer to Hybrid A than a perfect Butterfly which is where I still am for ball hockey. I started ice in 2017 (I'm 31 now and self taught). I'm barely closer to a perfect Butterfly than Hybrid A. For now I'm ok here. I'm at a career high in everything, but still have room for improvement.
Good to self analyze
I’m somewhere between flopper and hybrid B…played in the 80’s when butterfly wasn’t a style. Today, I find myself dropping into a “semi” butterfly but then I’m stuck…no butterfly pushes or slides for me. I’m eager to learn the technique/proper movements even at 55
You can do it.
Hybrid B, I don’t drop until the shot but once I’m down I tend to stay down until the puck’s in the corner or out of a scoring position in general. Sometimes I’m a bit slide happy on the 2-on-1s for the first pass but I’m big and flexible so I can usually get back if it isn’t a one-touch
wise man
Stand up is my preference like kirk mclean
He was great at it
Hybrid B. Closer to flopper. I need to work on staying on my edges and stop going down without seeing the trajectory of the puck first. I would like to be in the center of the spectrum.
Luka Priatka smart plan
I grew up watching Hasek and Osgood the most along with brodour and JSG.
I would classify myself as hybrid b. And love to bust out a windmill if needed or a dive here and there.
I would love to get closer to butterfly but having the flop throws skaters off in my favor and has saved my butt many a time
Good analysis
Embraced my first set of butterfly style pads this past season -- been alot of re-wiring of the brain & muscle memory battles...I think I likely fall in Hybrid A territory with a conscious effort towards smart and patient butterfly....every once in a while a decent double pad stack comes out of the back pocket
The 2 pad will never die
I'm more of the hybrid A. I grew up watching guys like my Brodeur (one of my heroes) Boucher. I have more and more gravitated towards Holtby.
Some great guys to emulate
I am returning to the net after 15+ years away. My previous play style mimic John Vanbiesbrouck. I played for about 20 years with that style and was highly effective at every level. I have watched the position evolve over the years and notice most goaltenders hold their glove a lot higher these days. I am wondering if my style of yesteryear would still be effective in the Beer League level.
Stick with what you know and then adjust as issues arise
I would probably fit into the hybrid b, when I was younger and getting into hockey I was a big time flopper, that was pretty much the only way I made my saves was basically throwing my body towards the puck. Now I’ve been able to dial things in more, however during scramble situations I still have a tendency for flopping around, maybe for better or for worse.
Bobby T. I think we all start with flopping and then refine some patience. Good job.
Hybrid B. However, very comfortable in the butterfly and on my edges.
Matt Maitlen excellent
My best game is when I’m not feeling well and trying to keep my game simple, looking at it, more patient, still playing at 68.
Robb Ostwald that is awesome Robb... we will have to get a video of you in action!
Holy crap! 68. That is awesome.
I've been trying to get a modern butterfly style together, but to be honest, I'm 47 years old and only playing my second season of hockey. And it's just not working out. So I may as well have fun if I'm just going to get shelled anyway: I'm going for full stand-up!
Use the tools you have…😎
I am a goalie from south africa i am a Hybrid A pretty patient but need to be more aggressive love your videos
Ivan Muller thank you!
Hybrid B is definitely right now...working towards a combination of Hybrid B and Patient Butterfly
Solid plans
I'm a hybrid, leaning towards butterfly. Now that I'm 45, that's best suited for my aging anatomy.
Smart. Can’t play if you are hurt!
I think I'm a hybrid A as long as I remain calm. Then it's Hybrid B for Berserker: every parts is up for service if it can block the puck.
Love that self analysis!
Enjoy watching your videos,
Thanks Sam….. new one releasing at 9 am
Thanks for watching “big toe”😎
im a patient butterfly but if i have to i will flop to save goals lol, i try to copy markstrom and prices style as much as possible
Smart to take aspects of goalies and combine to make your own approach, adding what works and deleting what doesn’t…
Beautiful car! Keep those videos coming. I’ve been learning a lot from your videos.
stevten0222 thanks and I have years worth of videos in my brain... been doing goalie instructional videos since 1992....😎 and yes the GT is a beauty. It draws way more looks than the Lambo or the split window. Pretty rare to see one live on the road..
Hybrid B I’m in my butterfly most off the times. I would like to get to hybrid A a little bit because I’m a pretty small goalie and I need to be more up on my feet
Good self analysis!
I would like to think of myself as patient butterfly but sometimes drop to early. Also hope you are doing well coach
We are and hope you are as well. Thanks for watching.
between hybrid B and patient butterfly but I have made some good flopping saves
The fans love them!
Hasek is my favorite goalie of all time (so far), maybe thats why I am a hybrid 2 guy. I admire Price and Holtby (I would add Hellybuck) for the way they hold their edges but I go down more quickly.
JekyllendHyde He was an original.
@@FutureProGoaltending
I've always thought of his a a reverse butterfly guy, used his arms to take away the bottom of the net and his legs to take the mid/top.
JekyllendHyde He definitely wasnt lucky. Back then we never knew he would be a Hall of Famer but he was awkward and unbeatable. thanks for watching.
Hybrid A but always working towards that patient butterfly!
Vanniek 71 good thinking
I would say hybrid b. Working on being patient.
mike arsenault smart focus
I don't really know where I'd be. I'm only 5 foot 8 so I'm really small for a goalie, especially considering I play at AA caliber hockey. Because I'm small I will sometimes stay up to make some high saves when they are above the circle. but I'm also extremely quick and flexible and will often make split saves. I basically play like Brodeur when the puck is far, and Jonathan Quick when the puck is in the house. Also, my stance resembles Quick's but I have my gloves more active to block more area.
Excellent
I would have to say Hybrid B. I know definitely not a patient butterfly, but I'm working towards being more controlled and not rely on athleticism as much.
Eric Hayes good thinking
Thank you
You are welcome
Hybrid B. I never really had much goalie coaching when I was a kid and now in beer league I find myself battling for saves.
There is no prize for beauty if you are stopping pucks
Thanks Coach.
anthony peak thanks for watching Anthony
I'm a hybrid A. Working towards the middle
Wise
@@FutureProGoaltending sometimes I'm too patient and drop way too late and get lit up
@@jdogghizzy2606 timing is everything
@@FutureProGoaltending very true 👍
I'm probably a Hybrid B, but I like the athleticism involved with that style of play. It's more fun! Where would Ryan Miller fall on the continuum?
Hybrid A ?
Hybrid A Sr.AA goalie! Would have to say I'm in between Hybrid A & patient butterfly goalie
GoalieKid 54 excellent
As some goalies play until their 40s, how late in life do you think a new goalie can start and still have a shot at the show?
TheGodCent excluding unicorns, if you aren’t playing (starring) Major Junior, legitimately starring in D1 or dominating in Europe top leagues. Then I would say the age thing doesn’t come into play as they wouldn’t be considered. Just my opinion could be wrong
pure seabass pulled fresh from the ocean flopper buddy. never lost a game.
Yup
Hybrid B for sure. I find myself attempting desperation saves way more than I should be, and I drop early way too much
Correct. A little patience will really help your game
To old to go anywhere myself , but stand up /hybrid in ball hockey and pond hockey .
You are still learning!
I’m between a hybrid b and a flopper when there’s a rush coming in with speed I get nervous and it’s hard to stay patient but I’m working on it
Awareness is the first step to correction!
Couldn't click on this video fast enough 😎.. if I'm anywhere on the scale I think I'd be between patient bf and stand up leaning more to stand up.
I try to set up in a low stance and try not to over play things. To me it's wasting energy flopping all about the crease playing desperately. I need to conserve all the energy I have 😄
Wise man
@@FutureProGoaltending thanks Steve 😎
Hi Steve,
As a parent of an 11 year old goalie, we love your videos.
It is on the end of his video today
Steve, we watched Trav's Hellebuyck video before yours, and saw approx 4 mins of the livestream. Is that all there was on April 11th? That was a warmup. Your site and Travs are valuable in that you both offer insights into what it takes to be a goalie. I can show my kid drill videos all day long from different channels, but his mental development needs input from guys who know what it takes to get to higher levels of hockey.
I will ask Trav if he is showing the entire thing
Tim Thomas probably slots into Hybrid B.
I'm likely Hybrid B and I think that suits me best.
I understand the theory that you could get more success out of being right in the middle, but I don't agree this is applicable 100%. I don't think Hasek or Brodeur would be better as middle butterfly goalies. I think that learning to be the patient butterfly type is the best method to hone your skills but as you become stronger you need to adapt your most useful unique abilities into your game.
ShinAkuma204 well said
I'm 43 and only started up playing about 1 year ago.
Thanks for watching the video down under! Reach out anytime you need help.
Hybrid A right here and im happy
Happy is good
For 25 years I was a Hybrid B. I’m 40 now and want to get back into it but not sure where to start.
Focus on preparing your body with pre and post stretching so regardless of style decisions you stay injury free. Getting hurt coming back is highly predictable.
@@FutureProGoaltending I’m assuming the pads nowadays cater to butterfly style and “flip” forward when you drop right ?
@@busupshot83 yup… they are work very loose which is weird for an OG goalie
@@FutureProGoaltending yeah I’ve actually never used the new ones. I’m old school and used to strapping my pads tight lol.
How do you think a stellar standup like Captain Kirk would take to butterfly style?
I'm a flopper I have to admit. But I know when to tone it down. I just love mad scrambles in front of the net.
Haden😜
Hasek!
Hybrid B for Beer League LOL. I'm only 5'8 and my conditioning could be better so it's like an equation of maximize blocking area with the least energy. I'm like anti Trav: short, old, slow.
So you must be good looking then...😜
I'd have to honestly rate myself as a hybrid B. I say that because I'm told I stand up more than most, That being said I know I drop too early and of most of the pictures I have taken , Im on the ice.
Bob Stafford Thanks for watching. It is good to look your game and make these assessments..
I love his style and his compete
I'd say I'm between a stand up and a Hybrid A
Aim to stay on my feet as long as possible and move across the net on my skates rather than my knees.
I feel it's getting harder for goalies like me as new kit just isn't designed with us in mind 🥺
That is a smart way to play..
Where would you put Jonathan Quick in this continuum?
He is Hasek with more control...
Hybrid A.... I call myself a stand up goalie but working on my butterfly
Nice
Probably Hybrid B, but I've been told between A and patient butterfly is more accurate. I assume the average person is Hybrid B, trying to butterfly while also occasionally flailing.
I always felt like I flopped a little bit, but from the outside perspective was told that I was more patient and would wait instead of showing my hand. It's all relative though, I guess.
My preference was to play the Puck and recover, not lay down
Not to say I didnt get a cool save with my toe on a flop at least once
Flopping is fun for fans.
I would say i fit into the Hybrid B model
Excellent
Personally, I think I fit about half-way between Patient butterfly and Hybrid B.
If I were to pick and NHL goalie that I think represents the Hybrid B well, it would be Jonathan Quick. I'm kinda between him and Holtby....with a LOT less skill lmao.
Same paycheck? 😎
@@FutureProGoaltending nowhere NEAR hahaha With being a rent-a-goalie, and paying for my seasons, I'd say I break even and simply don't pay to play on my season...but there's no income from hockey that's for sure.
Hanging with the fellas is the reward
Where does the goalie that overuses the butterfly reside in this scale? I see a lot including some nhl goalies that resort to the butterfly way too soon and too much.
I may have to put an additional arm on my continuum
does bobrovsky belong also to the patient butterfly? I think yes
I would think so
i love to much hybrid a :)
I likely consider my style as somewhere between Hybrid B and the Patient Butterfly - but DEFINITELY closer to the Hybrid B than the Patient Butterfly..........
I said ‘likely’ because I’ve made a major assumption in my own rating.
I knew being being an analytical type you would enjoy this one.
FutureProGoaltending You’re obviously a great instructor; you’ve got me down to a tee!
That; and the fact that I told you I was analytical!!
Would you consider Hasek the most successful flopper? I'm curious how you explain his success?

@@davidbiren2062 that was the way back then for sure
Honestly I think I'm too early in the game to make an acurate assessment. Just because I'm still too inconsistent for that, but in a scramble I'm 100% a flopper. lol.
Im definitely too reactionary, I need to be better in a blocking butterfly and learn too use it and when. I also struggle with being square to the puck but also staying square in relation to the net. And being a rookie I'm assuming my fundamentals are more then atrocious. Lol ..
What are some of the good parts of your game?
@@FutureProGoaltending I would say desire, dedication, work ethic and apparent natural ability..
Technically.. My hand eye is pretty good especially on my blocker side. I'm a decent skater, situational awareness, Body control and
agility/athletisism, I'm not afraid to be aggressive and being 6'3" 250, I try to use my size to my advantage. Im confident and don't allow myself to overthink or get down myself.
