Once my little league son and I walked out to the old Atlanta stadium. I stood and paused in the same batters box that Hank Arron did. I looked around at the crowd, it was mesmerizing. I remembered my dad and me watching Babe Ruth’s record being broken on TV, and here I was for a moment in time back with him and my son.
This is probably one of the smartest things MLB ever did. Now if there smart they'll do it every year. It keeps the people rooted to where it all began. It's great for MLB PR.

@@Vyc74 I think your missing the point there VYC74. Little league's and High Schools do this all ready in corn fields all across the entire flyover states already. It's where a lot of these pro's come from in the first place as kids and reminds them AND the fans as to why they play the game and where they came from. There's more to MLB then the east and west coast and big salaries and no salary caps. Thus the point.
Honestly, I enjoyed watching this more than the all star game. This is definitely the game of the year. The field was beautiful, and the game was crazy. I loved every minute of it. I hope MLB does something like this again next year.

No, the timing was great this year, the corn “as high as an elephant’s eye” and heading into the final stretch of the season. Heard they had a bad storm, that corn only looked good after a lot of work to prop the stalks up. Farming is a tricky and risky endeavor.
That walk off with the fireworks was the ending of "the natural " with Robert Redford lol. Hard to believe it wasn't scripted. Great game instant classic.
There is no way to script baseball. Hitting a baseball is too difficult to script. The only major North American sport that is even feasible to script is football, as it's the one sport with the least element of luck.
I am not much of a baseball fan, my wife is, I catch it here and there. I get into the playoffs. This was the first game I've watched start to finish since the last world series and it was absolutely amazing. Everything about was super interesting. From the uniforms to the field, the aesthetics, the old wooden look. It actually took me back to a time of old baseball movies. Much better looking than gaudy, enormous advertising in a sea of giant boring, multi colored goo. How awesome was it to see so many balls end up in the corn! Think about it, a field of corn was one of the stars of the whole experience. And the game, WOW! You couldn't write a better storyline with excitement and intrigue end to end. When the movie came out, if you're of that generation who all flocked to see it, this was a pretty awesome tribute to the special memories of so many. It was a simple movie to make out in an Iowa corn field. No explosions, car chases, shootouts. Just a story, in some ways much like a theater stage play that required the characters to deliver the impact. And that it did. Amazing job.
I was fortunate to view the game on a large screen with surround sound.... I could hear the corn move! The photography and mother natures stunning "on fire" sunset as a background and the absence of concrete steel and glass. The short features inserted into the game preview and within the game were as good as the other big winter game. It was a class act!!

Wow. Two really good teams going back and forth. Dramatic ending. Obviously tremendous setting and atmosphere. Announcers at the top of their game. Excellent camera work.. Sublime throwback uniforms. Even the weather was perfect. On days like this you can see how important baseball is to the fabric of this country.

It was great that the players seemed to be up for it and enjoyed it as well. I can imagine with their schedule it might not be convenient to take a bus to Iowa for one game, but they really seemed thrilled.
It's cold as hell for most the year and it's super flat so no mountains to look at either. And not much to do. Having lived there most my life I moved out for a reason. But hey, for short stints during warm months it can be relaxing. You could make beautiful backgrounds like this from every state, it's just when there's not all this putrid condensed city life and pollution and sky risers everywhere, nature shows us how beautiful places can be.

Couple things I would change. I wouldn’t use the DH since it’s supposed to be a traditional game. Also, I wouldn’t have all of the advertising behind the plate or around the stadium. They should keep this as simple as possible.

He has a bromance for Aaron Rodgers like no other. But aside from that. This game was excellent. One of the best regular season games ever. The whole event, the hype and publicity, and then the teams delivered. Gonna be hard for the next guys to live up to this.
I think MLB missed an amazing opportunity (if health permitted) by not having Terrance Mann (James Earl Jones) re-emerge from the outfield to return from his trip to the other side. The last time we saw him, he disappeared giggling into the corn field.
