    Hey there... this question is somewhat related to this topic, but my question is: I am attempting to build a "safe light" graphing table for placement assistance with my designs. I was planning on doing frosted glass with red film that is rated to block 99% UV. I was wondering if standard florescent lighting would work for this project? I really do appreciate your time! I look forward to your educational videos (they've helped me considerably in my quest to become a better screen printer) and your amazing products (of which I have purchased all of my supplies from you)! Thanks again!

      Hello Edward, thanks for your patronage. I appreciate your support very much. Yes, regular fluorescent bulbs would be fine. They have low UV output. I'm glad I can help out through my video work. It's my pleasure to help out where I can. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/

    Hi, I do not have space in my workshop neither and I'll make one like it. If I can I'll do a video in spanish, for Argentina, my country.
    The truth that you are a working example and perseverance, what is needed in screen printing.
    Thanks!

    My "drying rack" is my guest bathroom equipped with a portable heater.
    And my "washout booth" is my bathtub.
    Oh, and my "exposure unit", is an old grow light, placed in a wood box, with some single pane glass over it. :)

    How are you keeping light from coming in on top where the fan is? And do you ever use a dehumidifier with this system? Thank you

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  6 лет назад +1

      The fan is on top of a light baffle. You can Google that. It's a light dampening device used in photographic applications. So there is a light baffle at the top and bottom of this cabinet. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/

    hi what tipe of emulsion do you use, and how long do the screens last in the cabinet without over exposing, thanks for the help

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  9 лет назад +1

      I use Saati emulsions and MacDermid. The coated screen should last as long as the emulsion will in bucket. I use a photo polymer so my screens last years in that drying box.

    I can't seem to find this answer anywhere. How long does it take a freshly emulsion coated screen to dry? Thank you in advance.

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  5 лет назад +1

      That can vary depending on your local humidity and how much emulsion is on the mesh. The best rule of thumb is to give more time than less. The emulsion will not work properly if it has too much moisture in it. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/

      Thank you!! I believe it is called luan. It's a very thin plywood material. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/

    Hi printing friend.
    I'm build my own screen drying box/closet(thank you for the wood sealing tip). Today I'm asking what the industry standard is for play when gravity holds the drying screen in a corner storing situation because that variable would throw it out of level. Is it tight as heck, or is 1/8" forgivable? These cleats are a permanent installation. Thanks for sharing your experiences, we love you.

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  8 лет назад +1

      That should probably be fine. You can always coat a few screens and put them in there to see what happens. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/

    What is the light baffle?

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  8 лет назад

      +Micky Lloyd It's a physical device we use to trap light in photography. You can Google it ;) OR watch the original video for this drying rack.

    I want to place a fan in my drying box just like yours but mine isn't in a light safe environment. Where would you suggest I place the fan so that my box is still light proof?

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  8 лет назад +1

      As long as there is enough ventilation you probably don't need it. But if you cannot set up a light baffle like I have, you could simply put it inside the cabinet to circulate the air inside at least. Then the venting will release the humidity faster even though it's just internal air circulation. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/

    how much did both builds cost? the first one with the plastic which was awesome as well and the new wood you did price wise? both worked the same?

    • @CatspitProductions
      @CatspitProductions  8 лет назад +1

      You'll have to watch the original video to see the cost. I remember I did tell you in the video but I don't recall off hand. The link is in the video description. The wood build was less than $100 I believe. I used 2 or 3 sheets of that 4x8 luan material or whatever it's called. And some screws and paint of course. Oh and 2 hinges for the door. They both worked exactly the same. But the one made with gaffers tape and coroplast gets saggy and deformed over time especially when exposed to heat. Thanks for watching. Learn Screen Printing: Light Safe DIY Screen Drying Rack Revisited
    Here’s yet another educational screenprinting video in which we take another look at my do it yourself screen drying rack. If you recall years ago we made this same drying box with black corrugated plastic and gaffers tape. In this video I show you the rebirth of the same drying box remade with hard wood materials for a more permanent build. You can watch the original build video here:
    ruclips.net/video/p1k57f74MaA/видео.html
    The dry box is built pretty much exactly the same as far as the panels, light baffles and venting but I give you the latest rundown on the minor modifications I made while rebuilding this with the luan material. My brother did the entire rebuild at his house following the same format we originally did so you can use the original video in order to plan the build with Coroplast or luan wood materials. Either way all you need is the screen rack and that makes it pretty easy to build your own light safe screen drying rack without spending a fortune. This unit cost about $400 to build including the purchase of the screen rack. Compared to commercially made screen drying boxes that is a great deal.

      This is awesome. I did a similar build based off your first video only with heavy cardboard. I need to put the time in on it now that the weather is so good.

      Richard Serzy Very cool. That's great to hear. Heavy cardboard? Nice. Never thought of that for a cheap build. I used luan for this version. Glad you enjoyed :)
