I was blown away with the game play even with the graphics and all over place camera. It felt so different with all the stuff you could do. I didn’t even own a ps1, I had n64…. but my lord… that PlayStation startup sound is something to behold. It’s straight up magical. I get a tingle up my spine everytime I hear it. I can imagine the nostalgia you guys feel who owned a ps1 for many years.
The warmth that filled my soul the second I saw that gameplay, its indescribable. Me and my older brother, sitting on the floor in the living room, taking turns die-by-die. Happy memories. Now we're both grown adults, and rarely see each other. I wish I could go back.
I played it as a kid. Instantly fell in love with the game. I had absolutely no clue of wtf was goin' on, but i managed to finish the whole game, once i understood that i had to reach "red money" to finish the levels. What memories!
The game was meant to have a traffic helicopter look, it was a big part of the game's charm, it's not nauseating if you're playing the game though because you're controlling it and expecting the appropriate camera movement.
Ah yes the memories.. this game was a bit hardcore, with the mission timers and all, sometimes ridiculously hard missions you had to be smart and creative to pass, which was more difficult playing at the age of 12. Find the right weapons, armor, jail card, etc. Complete all the missions. I don't even remember if you could save the game during a level. But it was too epic. Parked cars with frenzies, or a 3 second timer before it blew up. The good ol' days..
one cop and it don't disappears like GTA2, and i think the computer version is faster than the PSX, i'm currently playing, i downloaded for nostalgia, and it looks differently than this video... Its the hardest of the GTAs for sure...

I wish someone would do a square mile measure of the maps in Chinatown wars, GTA1, GTA2, GTA Advance and on the GBC. Even the worst version of GTA is still huge and fun.

If Xbox One and PS4 recreated back the original Grand Theft Auto with GTA London 1969 and 1961 with GTA2 all on one game disk in full HD version, it looks as great as this gets than the original PC versions.
On the first computer I had, after moving to Canada, I had borrowed a pirated Russian CD of like 100 different games from a family friend. this was my favourite one. I was so garbage at it, I don't think 8 year old me beat more than 2 missions, I remember it was ridiculously hard. I would just use cheats to get weapons, or just punch people into water. Good times.

And to be pedantic people call it the 2d universe but the games are very much 3D....look at the buildings and geometry and the fact that the player can move in all directions and towards and way from the camera. The people and cars might be 2D but the world isn't. But to even more pedantic..sure it is 2D all games are 2D. They are flat illusions on a screen giving the impression of 3D.

Good lord this version is so much easier on ps1 than on pc. Much less cars to block your path...add like 5-10 cars at all times to dodge and more police blockades, tighter time limits and u have the pc version I'm guessing hardware limitations

Hello I like old video games normally I am not a big mature game player but I am thinking about getting GTA collectors edition for my og PlayStation I know there might be some language but is there any inappropriate scenes on GTA 1, London or 2.
Yeah, it’s hard to focus on stuff. I can appreciate it for what it was and what it started, but I’m really not a fan of looking at it more than a couple minutes. Don’t think I could get through it unless I did a bunch of 20 minute sessions.

The graphics look different to the PS1 version I played. The Version I played is more akin to the PC version. The gfx and overall atmosphere seems 'lower/less'. Emulation?
This is so strange. The visuals on the NTSC version are nothing like the visuals on the PAL version. Seriously, look up the PAL version of GTA1 on the PS1 - particularly the road textures - and compare it to this. I don't understand why this is.....

Then it would give you random mercy where sometimes you die or get arrested but the mission doesn't fail. Doesn't do it on all of them though.
