I’ve been paddling for about 4 years now, at 13, I’m running class IV. The Rio Claro is my dream river (ever since I started paddling). I’m currently not at the skills to run it, but someday, I WILL RUN THIS RIVERRR!!! Great video, Dane! :D

Hell yeah! I'm 32 and I've been paddling about a decade, but this river's been at the top of my bucket list since I started!

I have to agree with you about that being the most epic canyon and river in the world. There is a little bit of everything in there. I was glad to see that you included one of the little rock gardens in there too. Almost no one ever takes pictures of that. That part isn't hard, but it shows the diversity of that little river. I also always loved the video of Corkscrew. That has to be the most unique drop in the entire river. I can't think of any place that has something remotely like it.
I noticed that they've put a wooden walkway in. That's pretty nice. I remember seeing pretty good sized snakes both going in and going out, and since I don't know which, if any in that part of the world are venomous, I was always a bit nervous going in there. It's the lap of luxury now. The only thing they need to do is add a kayak elevator to haul kayakers and their boats up for another lap, and lights so that you can run it 24 hours a day. Some things are too big an ask though, and we have to be grateful that the river even exists. I mean, it is a river, isn't it? It has the feel of a creek through most of it. Or maybe more like the world's best water park.
Thanks Dane, for going there again, and making a video of it again. I'll never be able to kayak again, but seeing these places brings back really great memories. It puts me right back there. Great memories. Puts a smile on my face. I'm getting to the place where I can't even hold a cup anymore, but my memory's still good, and seeing something like this just makes my day. Thank you many more times over again.

I run this section of Rio Claro with my partner Jose Mari Miro in 1996. We did all rapids without portages ( because we didn’t see it before ). It is an awesome river
No photos , no videos in this time,….just an slide with our two Prijon Fly kayaks in the horse to get to the top. What an experience !

Incredible, a fantastic video. I was going to say that it would be great fun on an inflatable (airbed), we used them in The Glen Nevis River Raft Race in Scotland years ago, everything looked possible until 5.27, ( I would have filled my wet suit at that point, sometimes adrenalin is brown🤣)
    Again, a brilliant video.

You can see the river before you walk up to the put in, so you can get an idea of the levels. But like many rivers in Chile there’s a certain time of year you can expect it to be in a good window. This river you don’t want to run with tons of water, but it can be run over a long period while it’s getting lower.

There would be a minimum of 2 guys carrying break down paddles in their boats. You lean right away when you start creek boating to have spare paddles. Werner full carbon fiber designs are the best you can get and worth every cent.

I was bed ridden due to illness over 4 years and started walking on Jan 5 of this year. I could barely go 2 houses over before out of breath. But I kept at it. I lost 65 pounds and I can walk 12 miles a day without even feeling it. I may have to take breaks and I walk slow plus use a pet stroller for a walker but I can do it. Take my situation to heart. You can get back in shape. One day at a time. I walk everyday no matter how crappy I feel. In fact I almost completely stopped driving. I now walk to the grocery store and carry it all home. You can do it.
      So I turn 50 in 6 days

You shouldn't hang around under waterfalls........there is some waterfalls near where i live and you could go behind the waterfall and just hang out and float on an inner tube. There was a family of four mom dad and two kids and the mom was behind the waterfall just about to float back through it and a good size chunk of log come down and hit her right on the back of her head neck area and killed her instantly......pretty sad ordeal and the fish and game officers and police and a fencing company put up a huge fence two days later blocking the trail and access to the part of river where you can get in and float in the plunge pool right near the waterfall so hopefully nobody else gets hurt or killed
