Depends what drive have you in it already, if you buying 2.5" SSD then you would probably need ribbon to connect ssd to the motherboard. Open up laptop first and see what you need 👍.
The brazilian version of this vostro says it supports only 512 ssd sata m.2 . Can i damage it if i use a 1t ssd ? Would the system works right or with some gap? Honest question. Plus, i noted that the bateria has a different number, mine is WDx0r and yours starts with Y... Whould i have any issue if if use anything different than what i have in the manual, ie 1t instead of 512, ssd nvme instead sata m.2?
What screw you are using to install NVME SSD. In my case I didn't get any compatible screw with the laptop. Can I use one of the hard disks screw to tighten it?
You can get an IDE card on ebay which holds an NVMe SSD card. - for less than £5 including postage. It will have the screw you need. Just measured it for you. Width = 1.85 mm Length = 3.96 mm. Length includes the (flat) head. I believe an M2 screw, 4 mm long should suffice.
You can go one mixed way. (A) a SATA SSD with a 2.5” form factor. It uses the same connection as a regular HDD to the motherboard. Or (B) you can go with a M.2 SATA SSD with an adaptor to a regular HDD SATA connection.
Why would it not. It's the RAM which is limited - by the CPU, and mobo. The SSD is not limited by the mobo. They should all work; but be careful to buy an NVMe SSD.
@@ToxicNerdAre you sure? I'm looking at official "Dell Vostro 5481 Setup and specications guide" (vostro-14-5481-laptop_setup-guide2_en-us.pdf). It says there are two M2 slots for SSD Up to 512 GB. Was going to buy a 2TB SSD but confused now, could you provide more info on that?
Awesome and thanks! Now I don't have to throw away my old laptop that died during the Win11 upgrade.
I can confirm. 32 gB of memory is OK. Put in two 16 GB memory sticks and works great , in dual channel.
Performance is excellent
That is definitely good to know, hope your laptop is going well. Did you install windows 11 yet? I noticed serious speed loss with win 11!
Thank you!
I want to add one more SDD drive, so i just buy a new SSD, right? or i need to buy anything else to connect?

Does it support a wwan card?
At 3:10 when you are talking about adding an additional 2.5" SSD/HDD, what connection do you need to install to the SSD?
