Yeah, you'll get the hang of their names soon 😂 Moonstar's real name is literally Moon ByulYi- so Moon and Star's really part of her name which is amazing. These bits aren't even a fraction of their extra-ness lmao. They're known in the industry as a group who always enjoys the stage and really have no chill 😂
The thing is... Usually girl groups in Korea are expected to be looking beautiful and cute all the time... While Mamamoo are just there being completely goofy and insane which is hilarious to watch. That's why they are called "beagle idols" 😂
If you can, watch Weekly idol ep 240 with english subtitles and you will see the girls in their full crazy state. I laughed until my belly hurted.

okay okay okay you gottttaaa watch MMMTV Episode 6 "How to Play in the Car". It's still one of MAMAMOO's funniest videos, probably what pushed a lot of us over the edge to become MooMoos.

Hwasa is dressed like a lion because there’s a iconic moment during a Christmas special where they performed wearing Christmas headbands and her hair got stuck in her antlers and it looked like a lions mane. After that all the fans and members had a good laugh and called her 화사자 or hwalion

Yeah, it was during the live broadcast of Music Bank, in which she got the nickname 화사자 (Hwa-Saja), or Hwa-lion. It became a running gag between the members and the fans. Coincidentally, her zodiac sign is Leo, the lion. [She was born July 23, 1995]

There's a lot of STUFF in these, huh!
Solar was dressed up as a blue turtle because one of her nicknames among fans is Kkobugi, the Korean name of the Pokémon Squirtle, because of the way her lips curl (like the kitty mouth emoticon :3). Apparently a bunch of idols with this feature share this nickname, like Red Velvet's Yeri.
The dance Solar was imitating with the fan and the the clip where they're dancing with their pinky sticking out is a reference to Lee Junghyun's song "Wa" which is a thing to behold, lol.
The IMPRETTY segment where they pretend to be rappers is a parody of the all-female rap competition program Unpretty Rapstar, which in turn is a spin-off of Show Me The Money, a big deal rap survival show. The part in 1cm Taller Than You where Solar walks out and says something in a heavy accent is a reference to Jessi who appeared on the first season of Unpretty.
