Great idea for a series, I look forward to more!
Thanks Julian! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Hero is an AMAZING run, just a fantastic series.
Good to know! It’s not one that ever hit my radar before finding it here. Thanks for watching!
This was, by far, my favorite segment you have ever done. Keep it going!
I’m glad to hear it! The feedback has been extremely positive this weekend. I’ve added them to the ol’ content calendar. The goal is to drop one the first Saturday of each month!
I love the retrospective comparison. Interesting idea. 👏
Awesome! I’m glad you liked it Michael! We’ll be back in July with another installment!
Really nice series. Wizard Magazine actually created the speculator market at those times. I hope you do more of this. Double thumbs up.
Thanks for the note! I think we’ll go ahead and add this one to the calendar each month!
Wow, this was a great trip down memory lane, please continue this series!
I’m glad you enjoyed it! I’ve got new episodes added to the content calendar through the end of the year!
Love this segment! It so interesting to look at both the books that have grown in value and the ones that have disappeared.
For sure! Thats going to be the really interesting part. Rediscovering books that were just a flash in the pan and then forgotten about, as well as seeing some of the books from the time that are now heavy (relatively speaking) hitters!
Great video. Love looking back at “Hot Books” from yesteryear and seeing how they fared over the years as well as remembering some other books that never made or got the praise at the time. Keep this stuff coming
Great trip down memory lane, Drew!
Thanks for memories of these books. I still buy Wizard magazines when the price is right at flea markets and comic book stores. I miss that magazine. I still wonder why they stopped publishing. 😢
This should be a regular video. Great job!
New segment was great. Awesome channel, I always learn something new.
That’s what I’m shooting for! I’ll have another Back in the Day Top 10 coming out next weekend (9/7-9/8)!
Love your lists videos! Thanks again Drew for the great content!
Great idea! Love hearing what was hot and their prices in years past! Looking forward to more of these
Awesome! I’m glad that you liked it! The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, so it’s officially on the calendar!
These Wizard quotes give me 'nam flashbacks... "indie juggernaut" "under-ordered" "talk-of-the-convention" 😬😅
But it was so positive! So 50-75% of it may have been complete BS, but it was nice to read something upbeat that didn’t immediately have someone take a dump on it in the comments section.
@@CoMoComicBooks true! Can't argue with that
Thanks for reminding me to go back and reread the Ultimates. What a great read.
Ultimate Spider-Man is what got me back into comics. Coming out of the glut, going bankrupt, etc, I bet the Ultimate books are a large part of why Marvel is still around today.
I dig the new vid, keep em coming man!
Drew this is a very cool and out of the box list, I hope you do more! 🔥
They’re officially on the calendar! Shooting for the first Saturday of each month!
@@CoMoComicBooks I didn’t know Wizard magazine did reviews back then.
Oh yeah! Wizard was prime time bathroom entertainment in the days before cell phones! 🤣
@@CoMoComicBooks 🤣🤣🤣
Fun to look back! I think something to consider is to do a price adjustment so we could see what $19 then would be now, then compare to current values. Inflation stinks!
That’s an interesting thought! Thanks for the suggestion and for watching!
Great concept and execution, Drew -- I'm unfamiliar with these comics but you held my interest nonetheless.
If you want to pursue a similar concept sometime, you might want to grab a random copy of a fanzine that reviewed then-current comics, see what the reviewers had to say, and discuss the current reputation and collector demand for some of those books.
For sure! Though some of those fanzines are 💰💰💰! Wizards are still pretty affordable, which is nice!
I love this so much! It was so great for information regardless of what people say.
I was a big fan of Wizard too! Honestly, reading through some old issues to get this new series up and running made me realize how much my snark and sense of humor are in lock step with theirs.
i bought the 1st issue of wizard magazine when it came out
Hero was a great book. It's based off of Dial H For Hero. I indeed bought the book because Geoff Johns offered a money back guarantee if you didn't like it. My local comic book shop owner told me I was only one of two customers who had the book on their pull list 🙁
Ahhhhh! That makes sense. I hadn’t made the Dial H connection!
Hot 10 lists are now garbage lol but those Jim Lee covers are Classics. Great content. Can't wait to see more!
I got that batman 612 signed by jim lee. i want another copy and i also want the sketch variant.
Nice! I don’t see the sketch variant pop up too often. At least not around here anyway.
I still look through my copies! 😊
Your end music started way too soon and drowned you out.
Thanks for the note. Sometimes I forget where I set the levels at…
@CoMoComicBooks no problem. Figured it was just a slip. That you would want to know it was hard to hear you.
Also, this made me look up all the old Wizards. I stopped in 2002, so I missed the end. Saw the last issue had a Ryan Reynolds, Green Lantern cover!! Made me bust out laughing. That movie was so bad it made Wizard go under LMAO 🤣 😂 😆
Glad I still have my original Batman 608 and 612 issues, great stuff!
Cover price is often hard to beat! Especially if you were a kid back when the really good stuff was coming out! But hey, I don’t love my clone saga books any less because they’re worth very little and nearly killed interest on Spider-Man.
For me, I think 90s would be more interesting with regard to holding value. Great concept for videos!
Oh, don’t worry about that. There is going to be PLENTY of episodes where we go back to the 90s!
Loved the segment
Thanks for watching! I’m glad you liked it!
I’ve been wanting to get more into comics, do you think the ASM & Batman Keys are a good time to get in? Or do you think there are other books like Superman that are worth looking into?
Batman and ASM are pretty much the two best long term bets, with the edge for overall appeal going to Spidey. Silver and bronze prices aren’t too bad right now, but golden age Bat/Tec are continuing to climb.
@@CoMoComicBooks I’ll look for keys from the silver age, do you recommend any in particular?
More of these plz!
How about one a month??? 😉
Cool idea!!!
Awesome! I’m glad you liked it!
Invincible 1 and TWD 1 are still the final comic book keys in my mind. I don't really care for the ultra modern Bat and Spider keys.
There are a few books out there that are worth keeping your eye on, that may wind up breaking through for the long term, never mind some of the really tough ASM variants that are straight up beasts. Thanks for watching!
@@CoMoComicBooks you mind doing of books you think will wind up breaking through long term?
Do more
I’ve added this series to the content calendar! Shooting for the first Saturday of each month! Thanks for watching and the comment!
