After the strike that just happened, it’s not okay for this particular black billionaire in entertainment to do what we as a nation wouldn’t tolerate from non -POC Hollywood executives and production companies.

It seems like every year there's some pandering to the clears ridiculousness. Tyler Perry seems to have a disconnect about what people are actually criticizing. Not to say that there aren’t people who are saying those things but for MOST of his critics? It’s not about the actual *stories*, it’s about the execution of stories. Personally, I think I just stick to respecting TP for what he’s been able to do for himself and for the Black community. I don’t expect to like his films and have stopped watching because he’s made it perfectly clear that he cares about his loyal fans and no one else. And if they like what he’s putting out then that’s that. He’s not gonna fix a machine that isn’t broken 🤷🏾♀️ With that being said, calling those folks “high brow n*gros” is WILD because by saying this, you’re insinuating that your fans are “low brow”. I think it was literally when Dave Chappell told his story on the Oprah show is when all the conspiracies about wearing a dress hit an all time high. The issue was there before but after Chappell talked about it the narrative took off and never came back down.
I'm going to say, for Tyler Perry, I just group him with Lifetime and Hallmark. They do what they do, you know what to expect, and you either like it or not. Sometimes you'll get something you like, other tines you're tired of the tropes. I do think some people may be projecting a creative path onto him that he isn't interested in, and that disappoints or aggravates them. I don't like that the sincere construction criticisms of people who are actually rooting for him and what he does for the community and industry get lost or lumped with comments from people who are just complaining for the roast or to be negative just because.

They often have similar emotional manipulation via over-the-top cruelty: _Make the step-mother so evil, that the audience will cheer for_ whatever _downfall she receives._ There have been some efforts by younger filmmakers in West Africa, to produce cinematic experiences rather than disposable "fast food" content. The Nollywood movies being recommended on RUclips are trending in the opposite direction with repetitive storylines, soap opera aesthetics, and stagnant audio quality. And don't get me started on the sketchy thumbnails which look AI-generated.

That "make your own movie" is such a cop out excuse. A lot of us grew up on TP and felt inspired. However, you don't get better at your craft by staying stagnant. Themes that worked well in the early 2000s do not translate the same way in 2024. Even when TP attempts at making content that is relevant, it comes across as forced and cringe. But I'm sure his ratings are speaking louder than any human on this earth.

Majors was smart enough to put a stipulation in his contract that only he can play any and all versions of Kang. I don't know how long that lasts or if it's still binding since his release...but that definitely had an impact on the decision to scrap the Kang storylines. As far as RDJ playing Doom...it would not be my choice simply because I like a variety of actors to get work and I don't like to see the same people constantly playing in every dang movie, but that's just a personal preference. RDJ is a highly skilled actor and Marvel has casted every character perfectly so far in the MCU. Even when they re-cast, they somehow STILL cast the roles perfectly. So, even though I'm sure the Russos are playing favorites with RDJ, I trust the MCU to properly cast Doom. Deadpool and Wolverine was a GOOD TIME!!! Wolverine has been my favorite character since 1984 when I picked up my first comic book and Hugh Jackman has not left single crumb on the table in that role. Imma need him to do whatever Paul Rudd and Cher be doin to stay eternally young for decades so he can stay in this role until I pass.

Majors was smart enough to put a stipulation in his contract that only he can play any and all versions of Kang. I don't know how long that lasts or if it's still binding since his release...but that definitely had an impact on the decision to scrap the Kang storylines.
As far as RDJ playing Doom...it would not be my choice simply because I like a variety of actors to get work and I don't like to see the same people constantly playing in every dang movie, but that's just a personal preference. RDJ is a highly skilled actor and Marvel has casted every character perfectly so far in the MCU. Even when they re-cast, they somehow STILL cast the roles perfectly. So, even though I'm sure the Russos are playing favorites with RDJ, I trust the MCU to properly cast Doom.
Deadpool and Wolverine was a GOOD TIME!!! Wolverine has been my favorite character since 1984 when I picked up my first comic book and Hugh Jackman has not left single crumb on the table in that role. Imma need him to do whatever Paul Rudd and Cher be doin to stay eternally young for decades so he can stay in this role until I pass.
