Thanx for this video and putting it together! It looks great! An added piece of advice I can give prospecting and current geology students is to not be afraid to expand your options a bit. Geology is a great base for various other fields of work. I am part of a Marine Geology team where we don’t map land geology, but the offshore geology, which includes going out with a boat and geophysical equipment to map the seafloor. As someone who studied in Pretoria I did not even consider this as an option and never thought I would work offshore, but here I am. This is just one example that you don’t have to work in/for a mine after studying geology, there are other fields where you can apply the same skills you learn in uni in different ways.
Geology is definitely a difficult course! So many new concepts and new basements that need to be built. Trying to build all that with all the pressure of science modules, maths, practicals - YOH!
OKEY the difference b/n geology and geography no one explained well. geology is a big deal tells us how the earth formed(the process), what treasures behind there inside and out side, so many things there to be said but geography tells us surface part the land scape. the feature of the out side surface (in geology can be describe by geomorphology, structural geology) geography focuses on the graph how the geology placed at the surface
since you in the geography field, am planning on taking a BA in geography and Environmental studies degree and futher major with GIS. is it good choice to make ?
Hey, As long as you love it, it’s a good idea. Finding a job is challenging these days and you need to study something you’re willing to wait for and work hard for. Those fields will always be in demand, you just have to look harder and wait sometimes
Hi ,I'm currently in grade 10 doing the subjects physics, life science and geography. I love geography and want to do a major in geography, but is it a good idea to study geo I SA
Hey Kingally, I say study what you love, if that’s geography, then go for it. Jobs are scarce in every field in SA, but you must at least do something you love, that way you’ll push through the tough times.

I am from India can I get job in South Africa in geology
Hey, you can but you will have to be an experienced hire. Graduate geology jobs are for South African citizens 99% of the time
@@Reholile even if you get a msc from a university of South Africa?
@@nikostripylas4218 first preference will be given to South African citizens first
