I’d swap you a fillet of Barramundi for a slab of fresh Halibut anytime, I can’t remember the last time I had a cold water fish on the plate. And it’s not going to happen anytime soon where I live, the Northern Territory of Australia.
This went much better; big halibut instead of big skate. I am curious to taste skate. My wife says that when she was growing up in London, skate was her favorite from the chip shop. I have to say though, we are sure enjoying your halibut enormously at the moment. 😋
Hello. I really enjoy watching your videos, it is great to see you putting back the non target species. It is all about harvesting food, making a living and conservation. If you get chance please show the shackles you use to attach your hook lengths. Do you use barb less hooks? How do you steer the boat when you are both on deck? Take care, be safe. Tim W, England.
I like big butts lol,Kodiak is great,my dad opened airport for western airlines in 1967,parents also were house parents Kodiak Baptist Mission back in 60s-to early 70s etc,I fished everything and at 23 joined uscg and stationed there 2 times.A great place is Fossil Beach, never seen anything like it along with Burton ranch and Beefalo, look like buffalo but a cross breed.Saltery cove,so many great beaches and sites.
Captain when you have a good producing string like this one do you ever think of doubling back.right away and relaying another string in the same place?
We didn't set back in the same spot, but moved down the shoreline in the same depths. We were fishing very shallow and it worked out well for the rest of the trip.
Watching yall pull in some hogs, gets me pumped! Glad to see yall get a nice set. This year coming up will be my first time ordering all my fish from yall. . It was a hard couple of year's for me.. but finally I'm getting back on top .
Wow! such a fascinating! part of Alaska, it reminds me as if we were in a part of ancient Greece on the Aegean Sea. I wonder if you had the same idea as I have to go explore in those caves. Some Monster Buts early on in that set, nice haul. 👍👍
Len, it's too bad there isn't a market for the rays, I remember many yrs. ago that they were punching imitation scallops out of wings of rays. I reckon the govmt. stuck their big nose in and stopped the practice, it seems they always do. Much nicer size of fish on this run, YAHOO.
Hi Dennis. There is a market for skates, but unfortunately we are only allowed 5% bycatch of target species. So if we have 1000 pounds round weight of halibut we could retain 50 pounds of skates. The bycatch used to be 20% and it was worthwhile.
I’m always surprised you chaps don’t eat grilled Skate wings with caper and lemon butter. It’s a delicious fish.
Thank you! Always enjoy your fishing trips and your family's boat refitting! 💞
My, my those angry tap dancing Halibut certainly drum up some reel noise on the hatches!

I 17:56 enjoy to see when you guys are fishing.

I live in south London and your wife is quite correct, white skate wing is delicious if you can afford it!
Tight line fella. Some nice ones there along with the scenery. 😊
Nice big'ns rather than skates!!! Whooo hoo!

The only thing better than a halibut is a bigger halibut! 😋👌👍
No skates, starfish. You guys found the right spot.
Wow had some nice ones on that string. Makes for filling quota fast I imagine!
A darn good set. Those were some big Hali’s. Glad this set is better than the last one.
Nice work good job 👏 👍 👌

Beautiful fish guys. Thanks for sharing.
Gorgeous scenery along the caves. What a great set you had there. I hope we get to see you measure those!!!

Merry Christmas to your family from Valdez.
Nice catch guys
Thats the best camera angle for watching the fish come up but we dont get to watch matt work his butt off.
Nice set and no skates
That may be work. But it looks like fun. Love the fishing videos. How deep were you fishing at, when you were catching those halibut?
🎉not bad at all
Nice grade of fish...or nice editing...or both! 😅 Keep it up!
Sun is probably setting pretty early for you guys now.
Sorry if i missed it but how deep were you? Great set
WOW!!!!! JUST WONDERING??? 1 KEEPER FISH EVERY 10 OR 15 HOOKS A GOOD AVERAGE???
With you guys showing the shoreline what’s the chance of someone setting on your numbers
Would you catch bigger fish with bigger bait?
Maybe try a second cam
Are you allowed to keep octopus for bait or eating?
Both. We can also retain and sell.
I'll bet there's some treasures in them holes??
Kelp fish are nice but your starving 5 mins later
All in all it worked out well and was more productive than the deep sets. Also easier than shaking skates all day!
