    Enforced training ?. It is rumoured electric shock therapy is used to encourage the animals to run faster ?. God almighty !. Poor horses.

      I worked in a shelter. We were blessed to take rejected abandoned ex race horses. I say blessed because usually they don't make it that far. There is nothing more harrowing than having a horse from this industry look you in the eye with trust and fear. And all you want is to give them their spirit back and it takes so much time.
