  • Study this Long Acting Insulin mnemonic for NCLEX and other mnemonics with Pixorize.
    Long-acting insulins include the drugs glargine and detemir. Long acting insulins are given once daily, have no peak, and instead work steadily over a duration of around 24 hours. Long acting insulins cannot be mixed; they must be given in their own syringe.

    a mnemonic to help me remember that you cannot mix this type of insulin is "L for Long and Lonely syringe (separate syringe, cannot mix with other insulins)

    But there has been a mixed of long and rapid insulin now, it is called Ryzodeg, 70% long acting/degludec and 30% rapid acting/aspart
