One of the most beloved scenes in the series.... Amazing talent, and such a memorable man. Love it, love him. Rufus ain't half bad, either. I was 6 when this appeared on tv, and I'm 55 now. The little girl in me remembers loving this song and this singer. Oh, and the song "Nurses" is pretty great, too. Hugs to all still watching M*A*SH* in 2023, soon to be 2024.
He also sings in the M*A*S*H ep "Big Mac". BTW, thanks for the hug. I'm still watching M*A*S*H ... and LOVING it. Sorry, I couldn't help letting a little "Get Smart" in there; I love "Get Smart" too. Best wishes to you.
I’ve been watching mash for as long as I can remember keep in mind I’m only 18 that’s is my family’s show and it’s had a huge impact on me as I have grown
Thats amazing to here, the show really features some good live advice and still very relaxing to watch.. what was your most favorit part of the show, for me it was when Pierce and Francis playing tricks to burns.. my favorit show was when they tricked im into thinking that near their camp is gold :D
And to think there would be NO ONE born in my home state of the USA. Thank you so much! Guitar player from Mash. Fellow Carolinian. I was born and raised in Charlotte, NC. My Step Grandpa (My Korean grandma remarried with one of the nicest and kindest US soldier stationed at the front) was actually an Army Medic during Mash. During the Vietnam and Korean War.
I was a big Loudon fan and thrilled to hear (and see) him on Mash. How the heck did he ever end up on the show as Captain Spaulding? Did some producer who was a Marx Brothers fan also love Loudon?!
Actually the M.A.S.H Creator Larry Gelbart was one of his biggest fans who really wanted him on the show! You can read the why here: www.metv.com/stories/m-a-s-h-creator-explained-why-the-singing-captain-only-appears-for-one-season
I want to know what made him laugh at 0:14, I imagine it's Alan Alda or Wayne Rogers clowning in front of him. Personally, I wish Loudon had more chances to appear, a semi regular would have been great.
Well.. in a newspaper the creator of *M*A*S*H* said he would have liked more cooperation with him as well but they always had to switch recording dates for Loudon so they were able to record with him.. sadly they wouldn't keep up with their schedule if they would record with him... Loudon had too many shows he needed to attend to... Well the struggle of a musician and a producer 😅
You can't, you can either ask the public manager for loudon wainwright III or you could either just listen to it... There are not many good Public records of this song..
2024 still watching and loving M*A*S*H, and ALL of the M*A*S*H Family 👍
Yep. MASH this is for life, until the end
M*A*S*H* one of the best Series ever . 😁👍
By the time he appeared on M*A*S*H* he was well known for his “Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road.”

I'm in Tokyo now!
Best TV EVER made! I wish they would remove the laugh track from the re-runs. You can turn it off on the DVD releases.
Thanks lad, this is lovely
