i love our powder white sand in cape town . when I go to the beach in Durban it doesn't feel right . its like I'm sitting in garden soil lol .... i cannot get over other textures and colours of beach sand that isn't cape town .
You were on the wrong side to see the house ❤ Shoukd have gone past the dune back the way you came where the mouth of the lake is where it runs into the sea. There is a small trail to your right when you face the lakeside that wins between the fynbos and the dunes.
@africaunexpected Pleasure! The house that is visible, is between two or three smaller dunes. It's painted white and green. There is a caretaker that lives there or someone to that effect.
Very true😂 It was a lot larger the first time we went, but when we came back to film the water had dried up quite a lot. But as a bonus it is nice and warm to swim in🙂
Definitely not the biggest or highest dune is SA. The Alexandria dune system just north of Gqeberha (Algoa Bay) and the end point of the Eden to Addo Corridor is th biggest in South Africa followed by IsImangaliso Dune System in KZN. These are both 2 of the biggest dune systems in the Southern Hemisphere.
We were warned years ago about going into the lakes in the dunes because a lot of people lost their lives because of SINKING SANDS. It's dangerous there.
Your channel is IRREPLACEABLE!! Thank you and keep it up👍
Wow, thanks! Really appreciate the comment. 🙏🏻
Awesome video. Such beauty all around
I thoroughly enjoyed this episode 🎉 your adventurous spirit is contagious.
Thanks. You will love what we did at 3am to find the really unexpected. Coming today!
I like your video!
From Pe
Thanks 🙏🏻
WoW! That’s Incredibly Awesome! Absolutely Stunning And Breathtaking! 🫶🏻🤩❤️✨
Yeah, Betty’s Bay is really beautiful. I am looking forward to sharing other parts that are even more amazing.
Sooo much fun !
Funny enough ik headed to Betty’s Bay next month.
Never knew that existed but will be looking forward to trying
Enjoy. It is dependent on the rain and so vanishes as we head into summer, but that’s like any good secret. It’s only around for a while.
Nice video! Subscribed. Used to Hermanus once a month for work and never knew this
Thanks for subscribing - much appreciated.
It's incredibly hard to slide down that dune. But great fun!
I just got to find a nice waxed board

The West Coast certainly does have many beaches with stunning soft white sand.
@@africaunexpected I love it! Sorry if I say cape town I mean most of the western cape lol
There used to be a road connecting Betty's Bay to Pringle Bay many years ago, but that has been reclaimed by the sand dunes.
That’s amazing. It shows how nature is such a force.
When the sea is rough and it is high tide, the sea washes into this "lake"
Less of a lake and more of a pond

Thanks. We will have to go back and try again. The joy of adventure.

You were so close, the house is just behind the lake 😂
Really? I will have to go and look again.
Beautiful
But that looks more like a secret pond

@@laurenreynders2764I was going to elaborate on the one closest to PE, but you got there before I did.
And you added more.
Hehe

Great stories!!!! Can you drop us a PIN on the lake location perhaps?
I will do that when I’m next back there. But remember it is seasonal. It can be found near the end of Silversands beach
Just take a regular bougieboard down those sand dunes, you will be flying!
Great idea. I will try that. Thanks.

Is it a "lake" or a little pond ???
Lake,,,pond…puddle…whatever it is it is fun
central karoo is where its at ..
Sounds interesting. We will have to come and check it out. Where?
Lake?... That's a rain puddle
We only managed to go in Spring. In winter it’s deeper - but the good news is you’re unlikely to drown in it.
There is another lake. Much deeper.
@@africaunexpected I had the jimny half packed in anticipation of a hidden gem... Now my Speedo will have to stay there for the summer
We are going to have to keep searching.
😂
Not a secret lake, really
