      @@BarryFromEastenders Well since you would be diminishing your field of view to include the "theater" experience (The room, the seats, the fake popcorn etc) wouldn't that be a less immersive experience? @King0fHero 2 года назад +14

      @@lukalabudovic5385 the display itself yes, but the perceived resolution is a whole different story because:
      1) you see only half of the pixels per eye
      2) the image of a movie would be way too big to watch if it took up your entire FOV of around 90 degrees
      the rule of thumb for the best viewing experience of a movie is that it should take up around 45 degrees of your horizontal FOV (if you went bigger you would have to move your head too much to see everything)
      so if you do all the calculations you end up with about 916x515 pixels for a 16x9 aspect ratio image for a comfortable 45 degrees viewing angle
      I just now realized as well that with the current resolution we can only watch movies in a quality that is something in between the usual 480p and 720p resolutions
      but in defence of the Q2 it somehow still feels more impressive than that - like rather something between 720p and 1080p, leaning more towards 1080p

    While I do like Bigscreen for what it is, I have one major complaint which actually sounds like it might have been fixed in an update that you mentioned. The issue I have is while setting up a room and inviting someone to come watch, our movies are not synced. My mom and I have tried to watch movies in bigscreen at least 3 times since we have had our Quest 2's and every time I set up the room and when she gets in I will start playing the movie but only mine starts. Even if both of our headsets start playing at the same time we eventually get a 3-5 second if not more of a gap between what we are seeing.

    • @markjason2
      @markjason2 2 года назад

      It is because you are the ones streaming. The data from the PC will go to your headset because you own the room, and from your headset, you will broadcast now the data to all other people to see. That's why you see the movie first before others even you both lives in the same house or same network.

With big screen you have like 12 different rooms you can pick from but the issue with that is if you don't have a computer it's hard for you to use remote desktop to stream movies to it. It's not impossible because you can download movies to your phone and download DLNA server and watch movies that way. I mean. Except for the fact that you have start feeling fatigued long before the movie is over. I really like the idea of it and most of the apps I've used (like Netflix) are pretty polished.

    • @tony2707

      I can guarantee your not watching raw uncompressed 3d video. The machine to play such a video would have to be a beast and your storage would have to be of a ridiculous size for one video.

    • @volt8ge

      @@tony2707 I understand your meaning… once for the disk and second for the mkv. However, there is a way to play it on the headset without a third compression which is most commonly done (mp4). Where artifacts are clearly visible. Without this third compression, artifacts are not visible at all. It’s very clear and looks very sharp for 1080p.
