- As we hadn't been to the local co-op since January we thought it time for another visit, and as Lidl is right next door if would have been rude not to do both, right?

Thanks to those eagle eyed viewers who noted the clearly vegetarian label on the ketchup crisps, which is clearly visible in the vlog, and why we always say to check your labels. :) x
I am so grateful I spent a few pounds
on a children's plastic magnifying glass
to go round my neck.
It makes reading the labels so much easier
They are sold in Germany as "nature magnifiers"
so children can go hunting in the garden for insects
but I wear mine going shopping
to read the small print.
I always use my phone camera and zoom in using my fingers 😂😂😂

I hadn't thought of that.
I do enjoy your pre and post shopping car chats.
I’ve said this before, UK stores are far better than the stores here in the states. Product and prices (even with conversion rates). Making a big salad for lunch and then a huge pot of veggie sauce for spaghetti, hopefully tide us over for a few days. Being retired now, I look for more bargains. I’ve found one grocery that marks down their mixed veggie bags and I can freeze or make into stir fries or sauces. Also going to start making veggie/bean burgers. Can make a big batch and freeze. So sorry to “waffle” on, as I’ve heard said. Have a good weekend, take care.
It's really remarkable, isn't it? We have a few flagship vegan companies, but because we're not by-and-large a vegan-friendly society there's little competition, and the UK, which is a vegan-friendly society, has just blown right past us with their number of vegan-friendly brands and products in just a few years.
If you don't grow veggies and are able to I suggest growing beans and courgettes, both are super easy to grow, produce loads and you can freeze them for the winter months, great way to keep costs down.
@@debbiepalmer1094 we live in Southern California, but our yard is under a canopy of trees (we live in a canyon). It’s great for shade from the heat, but allows for very little sun. In the long run, it’s cheaper to buy veggies from the farmer’s market.
Stuff n things ROCKS! Thanks guys 👍👍👍
Thanks, really helpful and enjoyable. Keep an eye out for the northern lights this weekend if your up north.
Ah it wouldn't be a Friday without you know a TVG mini shopping vlog 😂. Thanks guys.
Co-op really is a post code lottery depending on size of store and which co-op society the branch is part of. All of them in my town are rubbish. When I do get to call in at a "good" co-op I usually get the Gro sausages, yoghurts, cookies and frozen burgers as all really nice
I appreciate the honesty when walking around the supermarkets, cruel dairy sh*t etc. 👏
7:28 "the cruel dairy sh*t" Really appreciating your directness in this vlog.
Our co-op used to sell far more ...what I don't understand ,is that when things sell out ,(because they're obviously popular ),they dont replace them !
Loved the intro 😂! Productive v shop guys ! ☺️Happy weekend 🥳
Maybe a manager from the Co-Op watched your last shopping vlog there and thought they can do better? I have no doubt you have some influence at your local shops as your channel grows. Lidl do seem to knock it out of the park, as we say, especially with pricing. Enjoyed this vlog, guys; thanks for posting 🙂
Hi there fellas. Vicki from Australia. Im coming over again in June, and looking forward to sampling all of the vegan delights that the UK supermarkets have to offer. I also wanted to let you know, that myself and travelling buddies are going to Beck Hall, which I am beyond excited about. I wouldn't have known it existed, but for your video.
Another great vlog guys.
Going from Co-Op to Lidl is like doing the extremes of the expense spectrum 😂
And those Peanut sticks are DELICIOUS. Be warned, the bag will be devoured in one go
I really miss living next to a Lidl. The 50p unsweetened soya milk is much better than all the expensive ones you can get.
Morrisons do soya milk for 50 p, I'm going to give it a go, sainsburys cheapest is now 80 something, they did reduce the price, then it went more exspensive again, costing more than ever
I've just bought one today on the strength of a comment from someone in the FB group! I usually get the Tesco one but I was going to Lidl anyway so I'm going to give it a shot! Thanks for confirming the recommendation.
@@moosky7344 The Morrison's 50p one isn't fortified, which I think is a shame - you have to go up to their next priciest one (I think £1.10 or something?) to get the added vitamin B12 and D, whereas the Tesco and Lidl 50p ones are fortified. I do take a B12 supplement when I remember but am bad at that so prefer fortified for a belt and braces approach.
@@moosky7344 Sainsbury's cheap unsweetened one is also great. I disliked the Asda one - too watery.
Great video, love you guys…..it would be rude not to❣️🇨🇦
Co Op do a Gro gianduja (chocolate) bar in green packaging, I think it's 100g for 1.30, really nice! In my co-op it's with the other big chocolate bars.
Cruel dairy shit, ya got that right. And ooh you gotta love some bits and things❤❤
Many CO OP trips have let us down foodwise. The other day the store we were in had nothing apart from the GRO cookies...but they were bloody gorgeous!😋
Oh no! And oh yes.
My little local village co op has a great vegan selection❤. Even have vegan kit kat in the regular choc section. Love the gro yoghurt pots, absolutely delicious.
Keep up the good work boys, always love your vids.
💚💚💚
Hilarious in the car😂
Superb! Imagine scrolling past that jollity and helpfulness?! 😢
I finally found that sushi today! They've never had it when I've looked in Leicester before. You're right, it is gorgeous!
Glad you enjoyed
Lots of people wouldn't be able to survive without the much cheaper lidl and aldi prices, the British supermarkets charge way more, rip off 😮
Many now do Aldi price match on key items so no longer the case
In Coop beside the gro rocky road you might find a plant based millionaire crisp bar which is suitable for vegans and just like a toffee crisp £1.25 but can be part of a meal deal.
Got a pack of 8 Richmond sage and onion sausages on the whoopsie counter at Tesco yday and they're vegetastic, they brown up lovely 🎉
Wow, you two must live near a good Coop. The ones near me are terrible and I live in Leigh-on-sea and that is a very vegan friendly area.
Our co-op used to stock more than they do now ,disappointing ,because the stuff they used to sell was fab!
Brilliant trip out, ready meals in co-op are good, had that pasta nice heated and cold. Saw you saw same sort of sandwhich Jason tried from Boots, gro yoghurt are both nice Some things depend on the size of co-op and what they have, few around me do different things, Do wish they did more Gro stuff as nice pasty online
Lidl does depend on what you can get
I think lockdown wrecked all the vegan sandwich options. I was working in an office during spring 2021 and both Boots and Sainsbury's had several excellent vegan options they went on to drop. Things like vegan sausage and egg. I switched to fully remote work like a lot of people. Less demand.
Thankyou for another interesting vlog. I've not seen a bigger Co-op store in years, they seem to all be small , with limited Gro stock. It's good to know they have the vegan donuts and loaves, though. Lidl definitely worth visiting often. I was gutted that they only had vegetarian tortillas, I take it the vegan chickpea one was just for meat free week. inspired by Jason's Boots meal deal, I got one of them bhaji sandwiches on poppy seed bread to try. Thanks loves. ❤💜
The ketchup crisps from lidl are vegetarian not vegan, they have milk in apparently
Thankfully it says veggie clearly on the pack.
🫶
Those peanut pretzel sticks are wonderful ❤
Hi guys I'm sure I only saw vegetarian on the ketchup crisps
Love the blog I'm defo heading to my lidl thank you for that you'd for us on your shopping vlogs xxx
You did, see pinned post.
❤🎉😊
5:02 "the only thing on a whole row of corpses" So sad. So infuriating. And a poor cow in Scotland now suffering the horror of BSE. When are people going to wake up? When's it all gonna end, this nightmare for animals?
Coop are useless. They only have the onion bhaji sandwich at my local and the vegan burger in the freezer.
Our local coop is a bag of shite as Paul Calf would say
...w😯w
i won't go on about the price differences...(let alone the plethora of🌱V choices)
but that total @ Lidl
the inflation here in the U.S. is out of control
-tracee
p.s. that all to say...i'll reiterate i do L💚VE y'all's shoppin` vlogs
Love the Lidl veg samosa. Clearly marked vegan too! Is cooked but you could bung in the AF to warm n crisp. £1.49 I think but as that's a total meal for me it's good 😂
We looked at them today and didn't show them as they were clearly marked veggie
Only the spring rolls and onion bajI were marked vegan
Are they vegan by ingredient but not marked?
Gonna go get the pkt. Double check..
@@ThoseVeganGuysdeffo marked vegan. Have a picture of the packet now if u need. 😊
Rummaging in the bin only once for ya! Lol
The co-op near me is terrible for vegan food, only has a few linda Mc products, some over priced veg and far more expensive than anywhere else milk, no cheese, butter or yoghurt, Lidil was great during meat free week, seems to be quickly going back to its usual stock of almost nothing vegan, Linda Mc sausages that were it in the freezer, come on Lidil, you did great for a few weeks during meat free, now you've let yourselfs down, keep some items in all year round please, I'll say it again Lidil and co-op worst shops for vegans. I get most of my stuff from Aldi with a few bits from Morrisons, morrisons have a good range of cheese, but I do like Asda, great range of vegan stuff, I always pop in if I'm near one.
Asda's own big pot of plain soya yogurt (500g) is very good and costs £1.09, compared to Alpro's which is £2.10.
Supporting British (animal) farmers 😢 This nonsense is everywhere at the moment. Family farmers, locally produced, the lie of "look how we care for our animals" etc etc, as though that makes the horror ok.
