Hello! I am starting with pottery and your videos are helping me a lot! thank you so much. I have a questions, times before I did pottery I could paint the piece with slips (engobe in spanish) before putting on the oven, after oven i coulld galze and after, again to the oven. Here I see that you fired the place before painting even with the underglaze, I am a bit confused about it... Thanks you so much!
Hey! So glad my videos are helping. Yes, what you’re doing is the correct way! In this video I was experimenting with doing a single firing, so I made the piece, let it dry, painted with underglaze, applied a brush-on transparent glaze, and then did a glaze firing - this method is possible but not recommended as it’s more risky for things to go wrong when being fired. Also most products / brands don’t work well with only one firing. Hope this helps! x
Hi! You need to use a kiln with this type of clay because it strengthens it and you need glaze to make it food safe and waterproof. If you want to make something that does not need to hold water or be food safe then you can use air dry clay!✨ and thank you !!🫶🏼
With the brush on glaze, you can apply it on greenware (a dried piece, before firing). It still gets fired twice but because the brush on glaze was already applied, it won't need to be dipped in glaze before the glaze firing
Omg, I love the first one in the blue pattern, it’s gorgeous 🙂
And the black and white one looks really cool as well
Thank you 😍 that blue one took like 6 hours to paint so I will never make another one 😂
@@KlayCeramics but it’s so pretty!! Perhaps make a special one for your mum or a dear friend
@wendy_stone
From where I can buy the glazing colours for my ceramic pots?
Hi Wendy, maybe your handles are drying faster then the body of the mug causing it to crack? Just a thought.
Thank you for the suggestion! x
What type of colors do you use?
Hey Wendy! thank you for the informative video! All the mugs look beautiful! which clay do you use to make your mugs? xo
Thank you! The best clay to use for mugs is stoneware☺️
@@KlayCeramics thank you so much!🙏🏾

Hi Wendy, amazing video! What paint do you use?
You need to use underglaze which is a special type of paint specifically for ceramics. normal paint will burn off in the kiln.
Omg girlie yess 😍
What is the name of the paints you're using?
This paint is called underglaze - normal paint will just burn away in the kiln
Hi Wendy! What firing method would you recommend for beginners? (except kiln cause i don't have it) btw i love your videos 💗

@@KlayCeramics gotcha! thank you 💗💗💗
What did you used to scratch the flowers?
I just used a sharp pencil or a needle tool. Anything thin and sharp that you can use to etch xx
How can you bisque fire & glaze fire at the same ?
With the brush on glaze, you can apply it on greenware (a dried piece, before firing). It still gets fired twice but because the brush on glaze was already applied, it won't need to be dipped in glaze before the glaze firing
What brand are the paints and the glazes?
Is this before puting in fire ?
Yes, this was before firing😊
is it possible to bake them in a oven?
No unfortunately not, this type of clay needs to be fired to temperatures of 1100-1200 degrees Celsius to fully strengthen which an oven can’t do 😊
Oi boa noite, sou do Brasil eu queria saber o que você usa antes de passar a pintura final.por favor
"how to paint" but what paints are you using?
Underglaze - it’s a specific type of paint for ceramics that can withstand the high temperatures in the kiln
