I have had both sleep paralysis and what they call anasthesia awareness. Basically I woke up during my heart surgery. I could hear and feel but I couldn’t open my eyes. It was horrible

Glad you guys went back to the wide shot instead of the two split windows. It's probably a dumb thing to complain about but the way some elements from both shots intertwined, like a hand being visible in both windows, was really bugging me.

The episode where they had talked about a tire shop purposefully having tires pop nearby caused me to have a horrible dream after listening. I only noticed that is what the dream originated from after listening to this podcast mashup. the human brain is crazy

i have a deadly fear of every insect and and tiny animal under the sun. especially ones that fly. it doesn’t scare me that they could hurt me it’s more that the sounds and way they feel are incredibly disgusting and the thought of one touching me is life threatening in my mind XD
I feel the same way about blood link. Sharp stuff makes me crazy too, but obviously that’s not a problem for you lol

I was afraid of mascots when I was a kid too. I don't remember much of my childhood but I remember being scared of them. I think for me it was how big they were and I felt like they were going to kidnap me 😂😂😂

People (especially nowadays) are Insane and Unpredictable. Literally fear for my life when I go ANYWHERE anymore… it’s awful.
I know what you mean. I've always been an anxious person, but within the last few years people have been so much more comfortable being hateful, bullying, judgemental, etc. And there's been a lot of completely random attacks in the city that I live in (pushed onto subway tracks, lit on fire, stabbed, shit, etc). I try to avoid busy streets and just walk along quiet residential homes to get home now. I try to force myself to go out with friends during summer, but I'm a hermit in winter and I'm fine to just stay inside most of the time
Yea my sleep paralysis is like Rhett’s; feeling like u can’t move but try to and there’s no dark-demon figure
My kid cried like I never heard at 2-4 when we went to Disney or Universal if any mascot approached him ❤😂
Im actuality the same way for blood. Seeing blood is no problem for me, but seeing like my veins or feeling my pulse gets me quesy. I would never faint but i would feel very quesy.

There was a baby may bug the other day, it only lives 3 days so a tiny one is weird because they grow a inch or so in a day or two
I relate to Link’s fear of blood and the way that he fears it immensely. I don’t relate to the injury situation, but anything that is not an emergency and involves blood visuals and circulation makes me queasy. I passed out watching bill nye get his blood drawn in 5th grade. I passed out when we spun our blood in a bio class in high school. I get ill when my own blood is drawn. BUT got a scrape on your knee? I’m your guy. Bleeding out? I’m level headed. My bones popping out and I need to instruct people on who to call to get me help (actually happened)? I’m as cool as a cucumber.
It’s the 17th and no new episode. 😢 I’m sad because I look so forward to this podcast. I hope you two have had a good break. I’m very excited for you guys to come back.
Back here to find out if there was a summer vacay because I was having biscuit withdrawal and damnit yes. I know they need and deserve time off as much as any of us working but "awwww man...."

Rhett just described how I exactly suffer sleep paralysis too. I start trying to open my jaw, kick my legs, or even move a finger. Im currently 19, in hopes that it will go away once Im in my 20's
I am the exact same way as link is in the first part of this video, i have a fear of veins and wrists if you touch my wrists i will get a panic attack and all i wamt to do is crawl into a ball and die. Anything to do wirh the inside of the body and just seeing the inside of the body all makes me feel not good
When I go to give blood for testing, I blast Ear Biscuits in my earbuds until it’s over. Let me just say this was not a great episode to use. 😭😭😭😂

I think the magazines you were making reference to were called Fangoria and Gorezone. I used to collect them as a kid because I loved make up effects and horror. :)
It's spiders for me! Not the tiny ones but the big hairy ones! I think the tiny spiders are adorable and I often take pictures of them if they don't jump away quickly!
There is a herd of wild horses on the New Jersey shores too.
Rhett you should watch Final Destination! It's not about gore, it's about the psychological horror or knowing that anything (no matter how seemingly benign) can kill you! And it's great.

I had a genuine fear of mascots until i was probably 14 and started going to hockey games way more and there became no way to avoid them lol...still don't like them too close to me though 🤔
that is not sleep paralysis, it is sleep stage one hallucinations. much more rare and is most common with those who have sleep paralysis. but two seperate things

About sleep paralysis, it's commonly thought that witches can give you sleep paralysis. One time I went to the countryside with a couple of friends. And when we made the sleeping arrangements, I said I wanted to stay on the couch in the living room because it had this bay window with a nice view. And my friend asked me if I was sure because apparently there were witches in the area. But I was like nah, it's fine. Then I did get sleep paralysis that night, and I saw a figure a few feet away from me in the kitchen area.
Now, there absolutely are witches in our culture, whether you believe they have (or whether they actually do have) supernatural powers or not. But an alternative explanation (which is the one I'm starting to believe) is that witches are people who acquired unconventional knowledge about stuff like giving people sleep paralysis. Like maybe they know some plant combination that if you spread it through the air, it will make people have sleep paralysis. Something like that. I do think that it can also be induced naturally, and that's what most people experience. But I think that maybe some people know how to cause it 🤷♀️

agree on the multiple legs CRABS are the worst omg spires aren't that scary I mean not ones you see in Australia and only I'm small quantities but you can deal with a spider (and no you don't swallow them) but crabs?? este do you do when there is a crab with claws you can't stomp it

Me too. I’ve fainted a handful of times just thinking of it (in depth descriptions of circulation/complications, etc). My goal is to one day donate blood, because that’s the day I will feel that I’ve conquered the fear!

I figure, I stay out of the spider's habitat, they shall stay out of mine. Besides, I'm highly allergic to spider bites
Huge horror fan, lol. Personally I love the gory horror movies. I can watch the terrifiers, final destination, the Jeffry Dahmer stuff. But I instant gag seeing birth. Humans or animals 🤮 something so natural , lol.

I wonder if their fear of snakes is related to their upbringing? Snakes and serpents are concidered evil in a lot of southern christian churchs, maybe a fear of them was ingrained at such a young age that they never shook it.
Also, fear of snakes is extremely common so i could be completely offbase.
the fact that rhett said "i stepped on a water moccasin one time" and then also said "idk why im afraid im gonna step on a snake" 😂 i feel like when u grow up in areas with dangerous snakes like that u usually learn to fear them
I grew up in the same kind of church and I think snakes are awesome.
