I just happened upon your channel. Loved it when you said Bear was walking around like a little lord. He's so sweet. Thank you for taking us along with you, on another explore. Looking forward to many more, Sir. I pray Bear is with you for many more years.
The picture of the beautiful lady is Princess Grace Kelly! Star, royalty, and lovely! My daughter was named after her (and for other reasons.) She once left a restaurant because they refused to serve a black person. Then bought the black person dinner, and became long term friends. Cussed the owner out too...in a very tactful lady like fashion of course. 😁 Loved every bit of this Matt. Thank you very much! Really enjoyed the bits , bobs, and ceilings! 🥰🥰
Princess Grace was the epitome of a true lady. Composed, beautiful, literate, and always helped others, and stood up for those who were demeaned back in the day. What a woman.
@@FINDERSBEEPERSOn September 13, 1982, Grace suffered a mild cerebral hemorrhage while driving back to Monaco from her country home in Roc Agel. As a result, she lost control of her 1972 Rover P6 3500 and drove off the steep, winding road and down the 120-foot (37 m) mountainside.
Great explore, I lived there just over 2yrs in the early 80s when it was a naughty boys care home with school on sight, the stage was there and we had assembly in that same room ever morning. There were six residential units on the sight and i lived in Chepstow house which is the old mansion, the other units were Monmouth & Meade house, the brown brick newer buildings at the back were Windsor & Spencer house, there was also a 2nd floor secure unit next to the mansion called the Bridge (for reasons you would know) where boys that ran away alot or were hard to handle would live. The main house was a hotel until 1941 when it was turned in to a approved school for boys, then 1973 was labled as a community home with education, closing in 1986 it was sold and turned in to a care home for the elderly. Thanks for the explore, it bought back some good memories.
What a shame these amazing halls are left to go to ruin. So much history gone. But thanks to you & others like you these places have some story left to tell. Your effort is much appreciated!!
This is exactly what I thought! - I loved evaporated milk on tinned fruit. In the UK in my childhood it was often just known as Carnation milk because they were the main manufacturers
What an awesome place Matt!! I loved seeing every bit of this old majestic building. It's such a pity and crime what's been done to it and the way it's been left to rot!! Someone really needs to save it!! 🥰❤️🐶❤️
Only recently found your channel and have been binging for the last few days. The places you visit are amazing. Breaks my heart to see how these beautiful houses are allowed to go to wrack and ruin. Bear is adorable I laughed so much watching his little legs and bum bouncing down those cellar stairs. You are so respectful wherever you go so much so I’ll forgive you for not liking wales 🏴 😂😂😂 Keep up the good work and if you ever get fed up of Bear I’ll have him ❤
@@FINDERSBEEPERS I guessed that but haven’t found out why yet. I’m sure I will while I continue to binge your videos. I’m really enjoying them. They are great. 👍
My gran used to give us tinned peaches and milk. Used to ask us if we wanted bread and butter with it. Yuk. I don't know if it was a war time thing or the fact that they were bought up in poverty.
I think it must've been a wartime thing - my gran used to offer me 'cakie', which turned out to be bread and butter, which was so disappointing. We used to have tinned fruit and evaporated milk with bread and butter for Sunday tea. Think it was a wartime thing.
Those Glass Sunlight's may have possibly been created by one of the old glass masters. We had a gentleman in America who chose to kill his whole family, including his elderly mother, 3 children and his wife because he'd lost his job and refused to tell the family he couldn't afford to stay in their lavish mansion anymore. The story is made worse because of the fact that he had 2 of the huge glass ceilings like those in the house you are in, only they were very colorful and were both created by Lewis Comfort Tiffancy N.Y, N.Y. and at the time would have been worth over 250,000 a piece, a lot of cash back in the 1960's. He was on the run for I think around 40 yrs. when they caught him. Sorry so long, but when you do the research tell us who made those Glass Skylights if you can. Thank you for all you do, I love this video thus far. Much love from Tennessee, USA.
Depending on the age of the building. That beautiful glass ceiling may have been covered up during WW2 for the black out. They may have uncovered one but not the other. The Davenport Hotel in Spokane Washington USA was restored. While doing the restoration they found that the glass ceiling had been covered with tar because of the black outs during WW2. When they cleaned them they found beautiful opaque glass. The ceiling windows you showed were so beautiful.
Hi Matt. Like you I hate seeing periodic buildings ruined and original features covered or taken out. So I was happy to see there are areas untouched with the beautiful stairs and ceiling absolutely beautiful. ❤
I love old buildings I think our local governments have a lot to do with ruining our beautiful buildings,if it was down to the people this wouldn’t happen .love your videos mat and bear 🤩
So sad to see and I totally agree with you that they have made a fortune out of the elderly- plus the sad aspect is they possibly also abused the elderly within their care.☹️
That staircase area is gorgeous! It looks like a palace. Sad that it’s just rotting away like that. Lord Bear sits with back legs to the side just like my cat does. I thought only my pet was weird like that. So many rooms and doors and why the fake doors? What’s the point? You need a map to navigate that place
What an awesome place Matt! I really enjoyed it with you. Was thinking that once you get out into the grounds, as long as you have Bear, you're just a man walking his dog so no problem.
Done a bit of research....the owner also owns a security company. That's a double fail then. What an absolute shambles considering just eight or so years ago there were weddings held there. Shameful.
Hi Matt,my granda used to eat strange concoctions together like Trifle and a bit of rhubarb tart on the top 😂.I'm with you i don't like awesome buildings being made into old people's homes, it's a shame that they didn't turn it into something more suitable to match the decor and architecture. 😊 xx
It'd be interesting to see a legitimate comparison of how these places would survive -with government funding and without. The longer I live, the more I see corruption is probable no matter which route you take.

What a beautiful place to bad these people have redone some rooms so cheap especially the chandelier in the room with the stage😢 but you Matt made it interesting and bear boy😊
If it were a care home they probably had dances in there as an activity. An activity director would know of bands that would playfor the folks that live there. It looks like it was a nice care home in its time.

I love trying to work out the original layouts of buildings, so good to have your channel to watch ❤
Totally agree with matt why do they rip all the period features out of these old buildings 😢just spoils them xx
Awesome Mansion, Mathew, 19th century architecture and premises. Its like you steped backwards in time and we came along!
I appreciate the rant Mat and totally feel the same way. So much shameful waste. History just being destroyed.

Another lovely explored, so glad you take your time looking around these old places. The new bit had children rooms.
