This movie was the result of a contest called "Project Greenlight". Can't remember the details but I think the idea was that people with the best script would be given the chance to film their movie. This was the winner. It's by no means for the faint of heart, but if you can stand the gore and the monsters' mating madness, it's a pretty solid horror/comedy. It has to be to get two sequels given the origin of it.

Tuffy the childless monster slayer, seriously though, the monster from animal and the ones from feast could in all reality share a universe with the amount of similarities between the designs and intelligence of them, as well as the numerous numbers and pack hunting nature. This movie is animal but desert bar, without plot armor and no character chemistry.
Hi Roanoke. I love your content and the in-depth technical explanations of viruses and alien anatomy but I thought I might offer a minor correction regarding a comment you made near the beginning of your video mostly for the sake of posterity. The original Alien is based off of Giger's lithograph "Necronom IV" but they changed certain elements and specifically the design of some bulbous protrusion on the head that made it appear even more phallic than it does already. Apparently Stan Winston worked on the movie Aliens and also Pumpkinhead but to say he "designed" the Xenomorph in the Alien franchise is misleading.
Thank God you finally did this movie, I've been tryna figure wtf these things is for the longest ever since my mom randomly found this movie, ever since then I've been scarred 😂🙏🏾

The beer foam being called “too much head” by Americans and Brits always perplexed me as a Central European. Good beer has foam and it adds to the aesthetic of your drink
because its a sign of improper pouring, if theres that much foam on the top then the bartender isn't serving correctly, instead of your one glass of beer equaling a bottle with the ice, you would get closer to 80-90% of the actual bottle, and then as well, it will usually dull and flatten out the flavour, essentially making it taste bland, so not only is the bartender shorting the actual drink, they're also making it taste worse for an aesthetic that doesn't actually look good imo
Honestly man I love your videos, great work there. But as a German I feel responsible to tell you that the beer at 7:15 is actually a good pour with a good head. 🍻😅
After your Animal video I was wondering if you were going to do the feast. I thought that maybe this one was too much but like a madman you proved me wrong.
Damn, I've been running correctly this whole time? That's good to know. I have fairly large feet, I wear size 18, and I've always been running on the balls of my feet. I thought I was doing it wrong for years. Thanks for the info RG, you are the best!
After watching this and the breakdown of the monsters from Animal, I need to point something out. Feast was first of these two comparable movies made (2005) while Animal was 2014. Both movies however could be said were derivative of the 1989 Rodger Corman produced movie "The Terror Within". I suggest it for a discussion and breakdown of comparable creature attributes, appetites, and with Feast their reproductive traits. With fiction and story-telling, many elements can be either borrowed, lifted, used in homage / tribute, or blatantly stolen. Such can be said for Creature / The Titan Find and various other Corman & other films being attributed to Alien. However I can neither confirm nor deny that Ridley Scott and Dan O'Bannon may or may not have seen the movie It! the Terror from Beyond Space. This was a movie in 1958 where a creature is on a spaceship and begins killing off the crew one-by-one, 10 Little Indians style. Thank you for your film monster reviews, Some similar reproduction themed monsters to the Feast(ers) are: Breeders 1986 The Terror Within 1989 Inseminoid / Horror Planet 1981 Humanoids From The Deep / Monster 1980
Until I just read your comment I never realized how closely related the monsters from Feast and The terror within actually are. Funny because I just watched the Terror Within about a year ago. First time watching it since childhood in early 90s
Some nerd clarification if no one else has yet. Alien came out in 1979, Pumpkin head was 1988. From what I can tell HR Giger, who was behind the original Alien design, wasn't involved with pumpkin head. But Stan Winston, who helmed the effects work for Aliens in 1986, directed pumpkin head. So it's not the same designer, and Alien came first, in both cases, but it is certainly a lot of the same DNA.

Hey Roanoke, I was wondering with Christmas coming up if you had ever considered doing the Gremlins. I think that would be really interesting, considering how weird they are, love your channel!
actually got Krampus coming up for christmas! but I think I would like to cover gremlins later!
Might be interesting if you dig deeper and include stuff like the novelization with altered origins and shit.
Gremlins was one of my favourite Christmas films when I was a kid.
Definitely needs the Roanoke treatment
Thank you for finally doing this one. Can’t wait to see the descriptions of its anatomy from feast movie 2 sloppy seconds. Rock 🤘🏽 on
You should look at The Relic (1997) and the fungus on the leafs and what it does to those that ingest it
Yessss plssss
Yes! I've been hoping to see a video on that one for a while.
The Relic was one of the first horror movies I ever saw, Would love for him to do that.
Relic is a cool movie, but goodness gracious was it hardly no where compared to the book. I highly recommend it it's an amazing read
@ren bao a book and movie slightly based on said book about a museum in New York city where a string of violent and strange murders happen leading some to believe it's not a man, but something worse committing them
Would you have any interest in doing videos on the biology and anatomy of Monster Hunter creatures? I feel like there's enough lore and details on the monsters in the series to do quite a few videos! Plus, it's a really awesome series! I'd love to see you cover this topic. ♥ Love your stuff! ♥
I remember watching this when I was 7 and this was my first real experience on these kinds of movies.
I was horrified and amazed at the same time lmao
“Their able to crush his gear” I know someone else said it but the way you describe things just so RUclips doesn’t haggle you is one of the best parts of this channel I swear!
Its always a good day when Roanoke gaming uploads a video!
Hey Roanoke, I was wondering if you'd ever do a video on the zombies from 7 Days to Die? I mean, since L4D 1 and 2, everything has been a rip or a fork of those classic special infected, but with that said, I'd love to see a series going over the different infected, special and normal. Just my 2 cents, I love your vids. They're informative, and fun.
It's always a good day when Roanoke uploads. Thanks, my guy. Keep up your great work.
That cougar would have killed me, because I would not have connected those dots in my brain.
Finally! I've been waiting for you to do a review on this movie. Thanks Roanoke
just gotta say, your format is THE BEST of any movie dissecting channel on RUclips. also, funny
"There you go, just saved you some arthritis in your 30's" *stares in thirties*
The sarcasm in this video is great. I love it.
This is a hilarious movie! Great in-depth analysis of the monsters!!
I watched this movie for the first time when I was like 6-7 years old, been trying to remember the title for the last couple of years and got to the point where I thought I had made it up in my head😂 thank you @Roanoke for re introducing me to one of the movies that got me into horror as a kid
I watched this movie when I was young (like 12 or 13) and I am still cautious of bars in the middle of the desert...
last night i had to resub. i don't know why, I've probably watched well over 100 hours of your content with tons of rewatches, same with nerd explains. i binge watch both of you while gaming. its gotten to the point where certain games feel like something is missing when i play without your videos in the background.
If anyone remembers the movie series Mimic I'd love to see Roanoake cover it with the adaptations of the insects is interesting to me
I mentioned that once before, I think he said he'd look into it.
Right? They're only movie giant bugs that have lungs confirmed!
First one is great, the puppet/animatronic used for the head is highly detailed. 2 and 3 were alright.
Fun fact Henry Rollins is coach, Henry Rollins is know for being the singer of black flag, a total badass, and being friends with the one and only Glenn Danzig.
HAH!!! I can't wait to hear him talk about Feast 2 and 3! You thought this was weird? This is a straight up horror/drama compared to the other ones. This is gonna be funny.
When I discovered this trilogy by accident when Blockbuster was still around; I absolutely fell in love with them. Even if you don't do an "explored" video, I highly recommend giving the other two a watch. I need to find them on Blu Ray and add them to my collection.
I knew this movie wasn’t some weird fever dream I had as a kid!
Watched this when I was 7, absolute nightmare fuel for a child. Time to rewatch
Roanoke always laser focused on cars is hilarious.
Fun fact Matt Damon, Ben affleck, and Wes craven were executive producers on this fever dream of a movie
I LOVE THIS MOVIE I'm SO glad this was covered.
Been a huge fan of the feast series for over a decade now. Glad you got to see it!
I love the first Feast and hate the sequels.I agree that the Feasters are terrestrial. I’m not sure if I missed it, but did you have any theories as to why they would wear animal skulls & furs when they are first encountered?
I believe it is because they were either trying to stay warm or hide what they were, both indicate a pretty high level of intelligence
@@RoanokeGaming ok probably trying to keep warm as it was nighttime
i thought id get some closure with the second 2, but they were not fun like the first one, and the last one looks like they had no idea where to go with things and just went, Cowabunga it is and go full bonkers
@@BangerangEliko yeah it’s like when a bad movie becomes a cult hit because it’s so bad, so they make an even worse sequel on purpose thinking that people will like it too, and they are so wrong
@@peterdanior4538 idk i never took feast serious maybe thats why i enjoyed the other 2 even i mean how can you take the first one serious even lol its meant to be fun thats all
I love the running joke of how knowledgeable you present yourself about rare, vintage and/or valuable cars. It's hilariously niche to know, good for you for having multiple erudite interests.
I just love some classics, Rebuilt a 66 mustang from trash a while back, that was bruuuuuuuuuutal lol got a 67 impala in the garage! I love her
Tuffy the childless monster slayer, seriously though, the monster from animal and the ones from feast could in all reality share a universe with the amount of similarities between the designs and intelligence of them, as well as the numerous numbers and pack hunting nature. This movie is animal but desert bar, without plot armor and no character chemistry.
I'm very happy that there are so many of these. I've been binging this series for like 3 days now
Late to the party, but thank you! I was coming to comment this.
Thank God you finally did this movie, I've been tryna figure wtf these things is for the longest ever since my mom randomly found this movie, ever since then I've been scarred 😂🙏🏾
Roanoke: What the hell are you guys watching?
People: Oh, this? This is tame in comparison to X
*Rinse and repeat*
xD
The only movies I can think of that make this flick look tame is the sequels.
@@Bluesit32 That wild, huh?
Kind of still waiting on your videos for Feast 2 and 3
What we do know for absolute certain: this is for sure a christmas movie
Really liked the movie review and the breakdown of the monsters. Haven't seen this movie and saw another shorter video on it. This one really dove deep and explained a lot more. Nice work.
It's funny that I've always been the "weird" kid for running on the balls of my feet. Turns out I'm doing it right
can you explain, like the balls are the back right ?
@@dragondeeznutts no that's the heel. The balls of your feet are the areas right behind your toes.
If you look at a digitigrade creature, they tend to walk on the analogous portion of their feet to the balls of human feet if that helps visualize it
I had to teach myself to run with my heels but I guess I had it right the first time
@@businessburd2071 sorry for the stupid question and thank you for taking the time to explain it to me
The intro screens are really funny imo, I really like the funny descriptions
Feast, the suprise trilogy i fucking love lol
Character intros were amazing.
I can only enjoy this kind of movie through your videos (that and through FilmComicsExplained). Thanks for another good one, Roanoke
15:52 Funnily enough Jorge and Samuel would probably still be taller than this creature either in or out of armor depending on which one you choose to use as an example... Which, while John isn't the shortest of Spartan IIs he isn't the tallest either, Jorge meanwhile is SEVEN FOOT FOUR OUT OF ARMOR. In armor he's an even eight feet, a foot shorter than Brutes...
I really like the way you talked about the cast. Your very funny. Don't let anyone tell you different!
I saw this back in college and i thought it was kinda weird, and got obsessed with it for a bit - then i rewatched it years later and realized the utter bonkers level insanity this movie trilogy was.
1st one, your basic survival film that fucks all your expectations and then GOES THERE.
then the 2nd dials it up to 11 -
the 3rd one got made, they wrote themselves into a corner and went... ok... cowabunga it is
honestly think it looked scarier when it had those "clothes" on
The beer foam being called “too much head” by Americans and Brits always perplexed me as a Central European.
Are... are we all just gonna gloss over the cougar story?
I have been waiting so long for someone to explain this movie! I've watched it a long time ago and loved it!
Idk if suggestions are available down in the comments, but ever thought about covering The Sentinels from The Matrix? Could be something fun to do.
This is the video I’ve been waiting all my life for
After watching this and the breakdown of the monsters from Animal, I need to point something out.
Thank you for your film monster reviews, Some similar reproduction themed monsters to the Feast(ers) are:
Breeders 1986
The Terror Within 1989
Inseminoid / Horror Planet 1981
Humanoids From The Deep / Monster 1980
Until I just read your comment I never realized how closely related the monsters from Feast and The terror within actually are. Funny because I just watched the Terror Within about a year ago. First time watching it since childhood in early 90s
I had a good laugh on the." Doesn't expect much out of life, like what the country was founded on" with such enthusiasm...... thank you lol
Oh snap I just commented something similar lol I’m a horror creature nerd 🤣
@@DevjKaiser hahaha nice, it's something certainly worth bringing up a few times to help clear up the info.
@@calebmar12 Always double check info 🤣

One of the creatures doing something to her face....yep...if you have seen the movie, you know that scene :/
I haven’t watched this move in over a decade and that still haunts me. 🤢
Whats it doing to her face? Im guessing same thing it did to the deer head? 😬
This brings me back man I never would’ve thought that you would do a review on this me and my wife love watching crazy horror movies these are amazingly crazy! And make no sense.
Where is Feast 2 and 3?
I love your names for things. "Force multiplier", "concussion force distributor".
