Solar assistant is great for a simple no nonsense dashboard. Bit basic for me, that is why I built a dongle which exposes all the inverter data and settings
well, I have a Deye 6kw inverter. I've followed the installation guide step by step without any problem. I have a lot of errors. In fact it only works the "sunsynk power flow card". I had to change the name of all the entities to make it work because all my entities beguin by turboenergy instead of deyeinvertermaster. On all the flex-horseshoe-card i have the next error: "cannot read the properties of undefined (reading 'state')" Even renaming the entities with the correct name. Any sugestion on how to fix it or where beguin to check?
The firmware you are using is definitely not meant to map to my dashboard. I am busy editing the latest video, it explains the process to buy the firmware from smarthomeintegrations.co.za/product/firmware-for-deye-sunsynk-sol-ark/ and flash it via the browser. This firmware will give you a fairly quick and painless integration and maps to the dashboard. I also spent hours reverse engineering all the important settings from the inverter so you can access them in Home Assistant
@@SmartHomeIntegrations First of all, thank for your rapid response. When you talk about firmware, are you talking about the inverters firmaware? and how do you know mine is not compatible? I also very interested about your comment of reverse engineering. Dou you think is it posible to change low bat value on the deye? on the menu options is not posible, its a fixed parameter and it always cut discharge of the battery below 44v and this is specially anoying when using 12S EV modules.
I am talking about using the modbus protocol to write settings to the inverter via my SmartDeyeDongle(implented in c++). I believe the inverter accepts 40V-60V (my inverter does via modbus writes). The electronic circuits were also designed to operate between these voltages (below 40V the current will exceed max current of the circuit design on the inverter). You should ideally be using 15S (3.6V cells) and charging the battery to a max of 60V. This will also ensure lower current draws and better efficiency during operation.
I connected the smgii inverter via modbus and it works fine. I have a problem with my converter sending reverse current. And I have an inverted display, when full it shows emptying and when empty it shows charging. Where do I turn that. Thank you
Well done on mapping the data to smgii inverter! I think you can: Edit Card -> Battery Options. Click "Inverter Power" you can also specify the battery % for empty and full. This should fix your issue on the powerflow card
You can define your own entity in templates.yaml that can multiply the value by -1. eg. "{{ (states('sensor.device_battery_current') | float(0) * -1.0 }}".
Hi, I checked and should be able to ship to Romania with one of my standard shipping options. I added the option to my website, if you have any issues placing the order please let me know. And thank you for the support!
Thank you very much. I will need to buy that adapter since I'm using the standard wifi dongle that came with my Deye inverter. But this is great video.
It looks easy when you do the installation :/ i try it again and again. Bevore i spend more time, can this used vor 5kSG03LP1 too? and can the Deye remotecontrolled fully with android phone an tablet? is there an plugin needet for? thank you for your video Edit 24.01.2024, i have done the Ground installation all steps like you. i have now to do the dongle to check the sensors. Thank you for giving me the courage to try it. i must do it step by step and bring the HA into the Https: network to manage my inverter
Unfortunately the dongle only works for Deye inverters. I have already started work on building the same type of dongle for Atess inverters. The desktop can be used and adapted to any inverter
Home Assistant Green works very well for automating an inverter. The 6kW is well supported. I built the Octopus flux automations on a Home Assistant Green (look at the video) and it has been running flawlessly for the last 3 months. All you need is the Home Assistant green and a SmartDeyeDongle (with a wifi network for connectivity)
Thank you for this video. I have remapped the sensor values to work with my solar assistant dongle but for the life of me I cannot find a alternative to: sensor.deyeinvertermaster_summary_day_pv1 Is this maybe a calculated value from your dongle?
I am a bit of a data junkie so I tend to collect as much data as possible. You never know when you want to plot something in a new graph and gain insight. And yes, I calculate an individual daily amount for each PV string. It is actually very interesting to see how strings in different orientations change over the seasons. Some seasons of the year my 5 panel string produce more power than the 8 panel string. Imho the data from SA is a bit too basic for me.
The only reason why I was able to build this integration was due to Deye supplying me with detailed and well documented specifications on the available data. If other manufacturers could supply the same details and there are enough people willing to buy it, I can build it. Looking at the pictures the MPP Solar inverters look like Axpert King inverters
@@SmartHomeIntegrations makes sense, I am pretty sure MPPSolar did this because I have seen lots of people did similar project . But yours seems very minimalist. Most everyone used raspberry Pi which is kind of overkill for what it does. Let me know if you need the links I can send and i know MPPsolar has more customers than Deye, I would be worth to check it out. Thank you so much again
The inverter only updates certain values every 3 seconds so they get updated every 4 seconds in HA, less frequently changing values get updated less frequently. I split them into different categories to prioritise fast changing and important values and the rest into various levels to work around the slow communication of the inverter. The inverter only allows 9600 baud
There is a home assistant plugin for the solarman dongle, it was written by Stephan Joubert, you could get large portions of this desktop working using that plugin, you will need to map the entities to the ones provided by the plugin. I also think that the plugin does not support any updating of inverter settings and the values are only updated once every 60 seconds. I do mention this in the Readme of my github project
I hope you are using the HA OS version? I had a user showing me screenshots where it looks different than the version in my video, but if you click on the search (magnifying glass) then you can still look for the plugins and install them and everything still works. I think they are probably changing the layout and design of HACS
I started off with a USB to RS485 cable and encountered several issues with connectivity. I also built several prototypes with microcontrollers and quickly realised that most people do not want to struggle for days with code and electronics. I did find a solution that ticked all the boxes, so I am trying to package this as a product to get people up and running. You are most welcome to use this desktop and delete the loadshedding calender and disable the integration that deals with it. I do plan to sell SmartDeyeDongles in the UK at some stage
Those installing this desktop probably need the "Atomic Calendar Revive" frontend plugin from HACS too. I recently added it to the documentation
I installed your firmware with your module today, I'm really happy. one in a kind. I hope you make it even better!
Thank you! Dashboard 4.5 and Firmware has been released. Workarounds for the Sunsynk server issues, new graphs and more config settings!
@@SmartHomeIntegrations Already updated! you use it every day!
Thanks for this. Worked great with some changes to suit Solar Assistant.

I used a translator. Maybe you didn't understand me. Smgii sends a negative current value when discharging and a positive current when charging

Yes I do. Apologies, I neglected to add a shipping option for Germany. This is fixed now. You can go ahead and place your order.

Yes the firmware works for Hybrid Deye & Sunsynk inverters

Answer my self, does not work for Megarevo

@@SmartHomeIntegrations this is quite good, Deye Cloud updates only once in 5 min. Guess I need a HA to satisfy my curiosity.
El problema és que tengo un Deye 6Kw y solo tiene una entrada que está ocupada por la batería (BMS JK)

If only this could be used with usb/rs485 modbus and trimmed for those that don’t have load shedding ( UK 🇬🇧) and only 2 strings
