  • Applying for the NROTC program is not unlike applying for college. Midshipman Elizabeth Lippie, an engineering student at the University of Michigan, submitted her application online through the NROTC Web site. She discusses the acceptance process further, including the interview and having family involved, in this video.

RUclips won't let us share links within comments, but if you Google "NROTC application checklist" you can find it. The NROTC scholarship selection board will consider the “whole person”, including College Board scores, grades, class standing, athletics, participation in extracurricular activities, recommendations, interview results, and perceived potential.

2-3 hours?? I had an interview with the NRD's CO and it only lasted about half an hour... the rest of the time he spent talking to me about what I could expect as a junior officer

Every post on RUclips, about NROTC is about scholarships. Does this mean Advanced Standing is only open to scholarship Midshipmen?

No, it’s not only for those on scholarship. I joined NROTC the beginning of my sophomore year without scholarship and picked up advanced standing the summer between sophomore and junior year.
