Former Chief Election Commissioner Explains How Votes Are Counted

- Dr SY Qureshi, former chief election commissioner of India gave an insight into the process of counting votes. Every round has 14 EVMs and a presiding officer oversees the counting process. Each machine can take around 700 votes. Till one round is complete next round will not start. The result is written in the board, given to the candidate and media in retrospect. The media gets to know the results as soon as Election Commission. Each round takes 15 to 20 minutes. The computation is done manually.
