....a Merchant bought two Goats from a Farmer for £860.
If the Merchant went to the market to sell them both and, he made a 25% loss on one and a one-third profit on the other.
If the total profit on the sale of these Goats was £30; how much did he pay for each ?
How much did he sell them both individually for ?

Just asking. Are you serious? I am a farmer in Eastern Europe, and you would never know the rush at time of harvest- it's wild! You have to make sure that you have enough workers, especially for the soft fruit. If locals are not willing to work for these wages, I, personally hire Ukrainians for the harvest. Farmers are not rich, love, so even Minimal wage is sometimes hard to pay. Keep in mind that also not everybody is keen on living on-site. It's a real struggle for the eastern Europeans that come to your country too. Can you imagine leaving your family, friends, comfortable home -to go and live in these mold and roach- infested trailers? Eastern Europeans take great care of their homes- they are always clean, tidy and cosy. I'm not talking about the Roma people, although a lot of them tend to integrate themselves in society. Keep in mind that you are judging mothers who cry their eyes out when they have to leave and fathers who don't see their children grow up. Mothers have died and these people can't even attend their funerals. Be gentle with God's creatures. We are all the same.

I know what you mean. I picked berries all through my childhood, in fact being on that farm was the best part of my childhood. We never made that much. Usually enough to get your pack lunch for the next day. It was great for poorer families, not having to figure out what to do with their kids when they have no money. Got kids out into the fresh air & on a farm for the day. Lucky if you had a spare fiver between you at the end of the week. Our government don't realise what they took away from these poorer families who relied on this & I'm guessing from the farmers too (having to pay minimum wage), giving that you didn't make anything like that on a basket, crate, luggie or bucket!
