    Hi there! 👋🏻 We live on a 1-acre farm right in the middle of the busy city of Phoenix, Arizona! Our names are Kevin & DaNelle, and we moved here in 2009, when our kids Ethan & Lydia were just 6 & 4 years old 🥰 Over the years we've raised goats for milk, chickens for eggs, built a fish/swim pond, planted fruit & nut trees, and grew a large garden full of veggies. We've also raised a bunch of other animals like pigs, sheep, turkeys, geese, peacocks, and more!
    Now that our kids are away at college, we have settled into doing what we love most -- which is raising & breeding goats ethically to improve genetics. But don't worry, we'll forever love our goofy pet goats like Luna the herd queen & Willow the stump lover. We also still love raising chickens for eggs, gardening, tending to the fruit & nut trees, and growing fish in the pond. We use the fresh goat's milk to make cheese, butter, yogurt -- and we use that + everything else we harvest on our little farm to make delicious meals. Having a getaway from the busy world right in our backyard brings so much joy to us each day, and we hope it brings some to you, too. 🥰

    Do you know any good toy ideas for a big adult toggenburg goat? He is 12 but I feel like he wants some toys seeing as his brother died about a year ago and the ponies don't really like him. He does have a tyre but he doesn't really play with it.

      Goats can really hurt themselves getting their horns stuck in fences or hurt other goats with them. The horns aren't really needed in a domesticated herd protected from predators, so it's the humane thing to do. It's also safer for human handlers.

      munobasho9 the first answer is not correct, the second answer is correct but, if they chose to show the goats you have to remove their horns or you will get disqualified.

      That's sounds really cruel....to burn their horns off😖. If they weren't meant to have horns , then they wouldn't be born with them jeeeez.👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

      @gamerweasel7000 6 лет назад

      fakecubed Actually, it's not exactly the most humane thing to do. It's the cheapest thing to do. Often times, people choose to take the least expensive route and burn the horns, which causes extreme pain to the kids.
      Instead, the MOST humane solution when it comes to dehorning, is to get them surgically removed.

    I think teaching kids and even people in general to be gentle and realize that animals can't tell you if something hurts is super important. Especially prey animals, they're instinct is to hide their pain since predators can take advantage of it.

    I know it's common, and it has its reasons, but personally, I am against dis budding.
    Same with de clawing cats, cutting dog ears, and tails.
    Anyway, cute goats. Thanks for sharing.

      @chloe10147AJ 6 лет назад

      David Renner that’s understandable but you also have to think about the goat, they could get their horns stuck in a fence or something. If the family wanted to show these goats then they have to debud them or they will get disqualified.

    • @gamerweasel7000
      @gamerweasel7000 6 лет назад

      It depends. Personally, I would strongly advise that you do not dehorn the goats. However if you believe the horns are going to pose a health risk such as getting caught in fences, do not burn off the horns.
      Instead, schedule an appointment with your vet to surgically remove the horns, that way the goats do not feel pain while underneath anesthesia.

  • @junekempton8260
    @junekempton8260 6 лет назад +1

    Just found out that it's incredibly cruel (and painful) to burn the horns out of goats. Even to surgically remove them is not on. Maybe you shouldn't be allowed to keep any animals at all, as obviously you don't deserve to 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
