I bought my father a replica of the grail and played this song as he opened it. With a smile on his face he turned to me and said, "You did it, junior". Everlasting memory 💙
"I can reach it, Dad." "Indiana. Indiana... let it go." Perhaps the most meaningful moment in a father-son cinematic relationship. The father and son, who never spoke to each other, search for the father's obsession. And when it mattered, the father tells his son to let it go and calls him by his preferred name to save his life.
“You know how long I’ve been looking for that?” “All your life?” “All my life” The cleverness of the script made it fun and exciting but also really impressive with its deeper themes, the beginning of the film focused on Indy finally getting The Cross of Coronado, something he’d spent most of his life trying to find, and in the end of the film Henry Jones catches up with The Holy Grail, something he too had spent a lifetime attempting to find. In the very end, with the Grail in plain view, but frustratingly just out of reach, both men finally understood what they had both actually been looking for, each other, father and son. It’s a great scene, and the reason why the 3rd film is my favourite…..along with John Williams magnificent score.
"I suddenly remembered my Charlemagne: Let your armies be the rocks and the trees and the birds in the sky…". The best movie of Indiana Jones for me, with an amazing soundtrack of Mr. Williams. Thank you for this, your channel is awesome!
Easily one of the best movie soundtracks ever .The degree of respect the movie has to the legends of Knightly Heroism and Christian Chivalry is great and the way both music and writting portray Faith , good will and sacrifice as the defining atributes of Success in this quest ... all magnificent .
That Holy Grail motif (thank God I have a name for it now) is arguably one of the best emotional powerhouses in cinema history, probably alongside the original Indiana Jones theme. In my mind, it has always conjured up the majesty of the 'Christian Empire', the history that spreads thousands of years into the past. I'm an atheist, but I can't help but imagine the gates of heaven opening when that tune plays, as if you're being absorbed into the golden light of the Lord himself, and your cares are gone. It also reminds me of my dad, who has passed away, and our shared love for this film. We never got to find our Holy Grail, but hearing that tune makes me imagine the times we could have had :') I really appreciate you putting this together, it's some of my favourite music
I am an atheist as well and I do agree that this motif expresses thousands of years of christian history. I remember repeatedly watching this movie on the VHS tape and hearing this tune, so glad I found it.
Over my lifetime I've probably consumed around 95% of Williams's work, but this right here is his best theme in my opinion. Magically compelling, mysterious, and powerful, like the Grail it represents, no matter which section it is played by.
RIP Sir Sean Connery, who passed away today at the age of 90 years old... a Vodka Martini, to Mr. Connery who is at peace with God and has chosen the path of eternal life in the afterlife... and who chose wisely...
The Grail Theme motif is copied note for note, and is used twice by composer Thomas Newman in the movie The Shawshank Redemption. The first instance is at the end of the scene where Warden Norton supervises the guards tossing Andy's cell. The Warden leaves the cell with Andy's Bible, and the theme plays when the warden hands the Bible back to Andy and says "Salvation is found within." The second instance of the theme is when Andy is in the Warden's office, and sees the sign hanging on the wall that says "His judgment cometh and that right soon."
Wow, I thought I was going crazy! I noticed this too! It is in the minor second leading to the note c in Shawshank, so they changed the key, but it is still the same melody. Oddly enough I couldn’t find it in the soundtrack for Shawshank anywhere.
I just rewatched the movie lol. Thanks for this compilation, it's one of my favorite themes from Indiana Jones. Powerful and nostalgic. Williams is so good.
The sounds at 5:05 make me think of a mix of the underwater scenes of Naboo with the Gungans and something I can’t quite put my finger on. Something holy or almost “classical” like Mozart. Hmmm. It’s the part right when Indy sees the 3rd task, the Leap of Faith.
Second compilation on the Grail Theme i see. Funnily enough, i had given up my desperate search for such compilation two years ago, it has always been my favorite theme from all of Indy's movies. Never expected some of it to surface during the period i stopped searching. Bollocks!
I’m a devout Christian. And The Last Crusade is my favorite installment because the sought after artifact is the Holy Grail and even though Indiana obtained it and used its divine power to save his father, and though it was lost, both Indy and his father left with something more important, His illumination. God be you.
3:48 This sounds so spot on. This part represents a miracle which represents something that shouldn't be possible, you can't understand it which make you fear it...but at the same time it's comforting and calm inducing at the same time. It's only scary because a person can't understand a miracle...
My brother and my sister in law got me the grail diary for my birthday last year and once I opened it I literally starting to tear up because one of my favorite childhood memories from a childhood that wasn’t a we’ll just say it wasn’t a good one was watching these movies with my dad and it got me
The relationship between a father and son is so very important. Something modern day media ignores. It's all about women empowerment and trash. We need more stories like this. I know this is only a movie, but fathers and sons are also important. Fathers mold their sons into men. Men who are strong and much wiser. Here's to all the fathers and sons out there. You matter and have value.
The Soundtrack named "The Wrong Choice, The Right Choice"which played when Henry Sr. drank the holy water was not included in the OST of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade but in the 2008 released "Indiana Jones: The Soundtracks Collection"
How were you able to make a mix of music for this film? I really wanted to make one, but when I uploaded the suite, it got blocked by UMG. Do have any advice or can you help?

Totally agree, this movie was the best in the series. The chemistry works really well between Harrison Ford and Sean Connery.
I read this in Sean Connery's voice. RIP.
@@jemert96 Yesh, of COOURSH you did. Ash did I.
Favorite scene! Never fails to crack me up.

couldn't of said it better. it sounds adventurous but has the Catholic music sound to it.
This is undoubtedly the most beautiful movie sound track ever made
Lord of the rings is equally if not, better, to this sound piece, and that’s coming from a John Williams fan!
Star Wars would like a word!
The scene with the night waving back always gives me chills
My kids always say (as part of their imaginary dialogue for the knight), “Thanks for destroying my house…”
You mean the knight?
Best Indiana Jones soundtrack

I’m glad somebody focused in on this. Probably my favorite bit of composition in all of cinema.

Do an hour of just the track 'The Holy Grail', well that theme, and mash it up with a key/pitch shifted 'Knights in White Satin'
You are strangely dressed for a knight.
I’m not a knight and… what did you say?
This, is what I have been waiting for.. :3
“The name of God, Jehovah”
"But in the Latin alphabet, Jehovah starts with an I"
Indy: Jay
Indiana! Let it go!

One slight issue, you used both the Crusader's Theme, in the "Keeper of the Grail", and Jones Sr.'s theme, which are similar but different.
"I TOLD YOU...(Shoots The Nazis In The Room) Don't Call Me Junior!"
It makes me think of Jurassic Park at the beginning x)

Is there anyone here who speaks English ? Or maybe even ancient Greek ?
Is curious how the Grail theme is the polar opposite of the Ark theme. While one takes lives the other gives it back
