    I was a teenager in the 50's in California and nobody called the music that we listened to " rockabilly", it was always called "rock and roll" or just " rock". Rockabilly is a classification that Journalists came up with later.

      Marin County punks were calling it "rockabilly" in the mid 70's. I grew up with Bill Halley in the 50's and it definitely was never used before the 70's. Ricky Puke called ducktail hair with pompadour in front a "cliff". Then along came... psychobilly :)

      Rockabilly was a way of separating the white southern Rock from city Do Wop or black race R&B. It was all the journalists trying to tell us how to like it. I'm sure back then people just called it Rock and Roll. I bet people would mention or knew that some music had a city vibe or a regional sound. But it was all Rock and Roll.

      @Daniel Eyre I know, it was mostly because health was more enforced back then with all those videos and less processed food, but still I was simply talking about the clothes when I made my comment, not a specific person. I understand people are becoming more overweight and unhealthy, but no need to put them down. Some really struggle to lose weight just like some thin people struggle to gain.

    • @doberman1ism
      @doberman1ism 3 года назад +12

      Bryan Charles It was a different time. World War II had ended and the American economy was very sound. Everything Americans needed was made in the United States of America from cars to refrigerators, clothes,shoes, TVs you name it everything was American made. People had gainful employment. People could live the American dream because they made a fair wage at their work and the unions were very powerful protecting the workers. Americans worked for one company for 20 years and then retired with a comfortable pension.
      People had respect and manners back then. If you didn’t you were considered a slob. Boy has that changed!
      The American dream is long gone. America is at a very serious tipping point and it doesn’t look good!

      @@dbutters3927 Yeah, you don't start on race because there weren't thousands of black on black homicides yearly, the divorce rates for blacks were lower than for white people, and millions of people weren't dependent on government handouts in exchange for generations of a bloc of voters.

    Rock music met hillbilly music and had a love-child. This is years before the
    Stray Cats brought it back. Rockabilly wrecks, live fast/die young, party on

    Wow, I loved seeing the Seattle area, the Lake Washington floating bridge. Would also like to go back in time and pull a couple of those 55 chevys off the assembly line.
