  • The journey to any destination is as important as the destination.
    And flying first class on any airline is so luxurious that one might actually prefer their in-flight experience to last longer so that they are able to savor this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity during my recent trip to Dubai on 1st November 2016 I flew Emirates 777-300 from Mumbai to Dubai I was upgraded from business to first class.. it's The cabin consists of just eight first class seats its been some years since I took emirates for any of my travel. I have flown Emirates a lot during the earlier years of filming my travel shows & was naturally excited about flying on it again after a gap of about 10 years. In The first class of Mumbai to Dubai sector there are 8 seats & I was seated on 2A. The moment I entered my first class cabin, I noticed the fresh orchids, Which were placed in my cabin.
    I had my private suite which was quite spacious and I was also quite impressed with the fresh Orchids placed inside. The walls were a two-toned pearly white and the windows and TV’s were encased by beautiful lacquered wood. Every "suite” was complete with its own personal beverage bar, a work desk, vanity case and a make up mirror. Even the ceiling was very well done up with twinkling stars. I was so excited that I decided to capture this unforgettable journey with my phone camera. After being seated I was greeted by my flight attendant, who came to introduce her self & offered me a choice of champagne, juice or water, and then handed me a hot towel for my face and hands while I took my time to decide on the drink, But one thing which I found very odd was that she had no smile on her face. I thought it must be some stress & decided to overlook it & ordered a glass of champagne.
    Then the wait began & After waiting for 8-10 mins my personal attendant comes with the champagne bottle but no smile on her face even this time. 10 minutes later when the attendant finally came with my Champagne without apologizing for the delay or feigning a smile she started to pour the champagne into a glass but because of lack of training or lack of interest in her work she ended up poring the Drink outside my glass. "Ops"I said When I saw that she is pouring the champagne improperly. She offered to change my glass and I smiled.. then I started to wait for fresh glass...but wait...she comes back again after 10 mins and starts to pour the champagne exactly the same way.. as she had done earlier.. and she started pouring the champagne outside of the glass. Well anyway she changed the glass again & managed to pour me a glass the third time around. By this time we had been 40 minutes into the flight. For lunch I requested the attendant for a glass of red wine with my meal but the wine I chose was served to me surprisingly warm & on bringing this to the notice of the staff I was told that they had not chilled it to the right temperatures which I doubt that they knew anything about. Now I really started to think that if emirates made such beautiful interiors stocked up on the best wines & Champagne then why couldn't they get well trained staff with a smile on there face and that too in first class..!!!
    But I loved Emirates first class. No, it’s not a perfect product - service can be hit or miss, just with Little smile on there faces. They can make the journey of passengers so much more comfortable.
    I very much doubt if I would have aired this blog if at all the staff had been friendly & accommodating.

    It should not matter if this is an upgrade or not, First class is First class!. Every customer is a potential return customer, that's the number one rule in customer service. This is totally unacceptable for ANY class of seat to have the flight attendant unable to pour a drink. You were very gracious, and good to see you kept your smiles.

    Great Review Dipti Jee..... Really nobody never ever expect from Emirates this kind of untrained cabin Crews.... Emirates people should keep a note of this... its a Hospitality Industry... People pay for the luxury hospitality.

    Terrible service you got - upgrade or not! You were still a customer. I would have defo sent in a complaint about this. I remember flying Virgin Club a few years back and to our horror the first class cabin was filthy. And the staff seemed stressed. Made our complaints and in due time did get some pretty decent compensation on the flight.

    That's true Emirates use the worst air crafts for south Asia. I traveled alot with Emirates between UK / Ireland and Pakistan. The air craft from UK / Ireland to Dubai is a new one and the level of service is ALWAYS great but from Dubai to Islamabad / Karachi / Lahore is always a crap one. I think they have a double standard policy and don't treat nations equally.

      Its true. Its middle east countries mentality. in Abudhabi airport even the gates that go to Indian/Pakistan/Bangladesh cities looks shit when compared with other western city gates, Trust me on this.

      The aircraft to Indian cities are not that good
      The boarding gates are old
      I stopped traveling by Jet airways on international flights since 10 years
      Old air crafts, lack of entertainment, poor food on Mideast sector
      My kids simply hate Jet airways

      Flights to Europe and USA are serviced better. The crowd too is classier!!! Sadly, flights to the east are somewhat lacking in many aspects. Speaking from personal experience!!!!!!

    The staff get more than enough training from Emirates to know what to do, but the fact that it took three attempts just to pour a glass is completely unacceptable. The fact that you were upgraded is why you felt that it was ok? Anyone in first class certainly deserves better service than that. Totally unacceptable for a first class product.

    I had a similar experience in Emirates. Maybe they are trained to treat Indians this way. I stopped flying Emirates after my similar experience. Indians please look other way if you are treated this way. There are many options available now a days.

    I agree! Emirates staff are not personal and seem uninterested they are all overworked... I think the best cabin crews are from Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines and JAL

    should have complain about her...emirates use worst/oldest aircrafts for india/south asia sector ( u can google it) maybe its the same with crew too...we are treated as 3rd class citizen

      Ankita: you are right the perception of South Asians in the Arab world is very negative for some reason. They look down on them because of their poverty and the filth and corruption in South Asia that is why they treat them at least 2nd class if not the 3rd.

      King Benja hey you fucking loser learn how to argue properly no need to abuse!! i know a380 and 777 are the best but they use old aircrafts on south asia sector there are many articles about it online i have flown myself to gulf and they used an old aircraft...i dont know about mumbai-dubai sector as i didnt fly on it

    Wow Deepti is back! I used to see her show when I was a kid .. probably its name was Musafir hoon yaaron or something like that. And coming to Emirates .. I would rather opt NOT board an international flight rather than flying with them.

    You took it with more grace than I would have. I would been complaining from minute one. Remember, you are paying for first class and that warrants first class service. Not just in NYC but all over the world, the squeaky wheel get oiled, speak up and speak up Loudly. OK?

    freakin... crazy flight attendant... unbelievable... I travel with emirates all the time and the experience has never been this bad.... hope they see it and give some training to this girl... firing is not a good idea... but may be she had a bad day!!! who knows!!!

    normally they are very smiling and well behaved I have travelled many times but may be a hard luck for you well believe me they are best I have travelled about 8 to 10 different airlines

    i have been flying with Emirates 19 years now i can honestly say i have never come across any cabin crew that wasnt smiling nor helpful! i have also flew business class upgraded many times and loved their service. I think this is a one off situation. you should have spoke to senior cabin crew and voiced your opinion. i would have!

    Actually that was the trade secret policy of that particular airline, in the in-out champagne crisis you can't concentrate on any other luxury services available in the flight,your precious 40 minutes expires just only for a glass change,and after that you are been busy with your meals and your destination arrives,but inspite-of all, good video and your cool-look really amazing.

    wow ! I have watched hundreds, if not thousands of reveiws of Emirates first and business flights. And it is very rare to have such poor service [and poor crew] in their premium cabins. such a shame...a wonderful flight let down by one crew member

    its because you have been upgraded :D it might be, it happen to me the same. i felt they are not welcoming me because i have been upgraded. but if you paid for your class it will be 360 different because you can complain and they take it seriously.

      Not sure about it. I've been flown Emirates 1st class several times. 4 times I bought tickets and 2 times upgraded. And there were very welcoming attendants and not that welcoming when the tickets were purchased and the same when the tickets were upgraded. So, I think it depends on attendants themselves, their skills and experience, but not the way you get tickets. From another hand experience Deepti has got is really shocking. It's far from Emirates standards.

    after seeing this video emirates will definately fir her,even for a loose button on a air hostess sleeve is reported and taken action,besides according to emirates they are not allowed to do mistakes especially in first class.you have definately pointed the inefficiency of emirates and this makes you a very good critic....

    Sad to hear that u didn't have a good experience with the flight attendant but I personally think it was probably a new girl nervous on her first or she might have been having a bad day cz I fly with emirates every time I travel and all the flight attendants r super friendly and always smiling to its always a goof experience hopefully ur next trip will be much better than this one :) :)

    Send the video to Emirates head office in order for them to change this cabin crew member's attitude. I would demand a refund if I were treated like this. I would've also spoken to the senior flight attendant and asked for a different crew member to serve me.

    Did that sunglass come on your face after you knew that you were upgraded to first class or do you usually travel this way?Maybe the stress on the air hostess face was because she thought you had some contagious eye disease?

      Hey... what the hell, you are commenting on someone wearing a Sunglass..You must be a person of low esteem. By the way, she bought a business class ticket and not travelling for free. It was Emirates which decided to upgrade to First Class so its the service which matters not the sunglasses.. You must be jealous of Ms. Dipti being upgraded and may be you have never been in your life.

    I have had the same horrible experience in a Bangalore to Dubai flight. The crew were anything but helpful. I pressed the flight attendant button but didn't get a response, so I went up to the pantry to ask water for myself.... Next time would like to take Jet airways....

    Hi ! yeah you are right to point out such issues. They treat South Asian destinations like third-rate travel destinations ! ..this is their attitude with Pakistanis, Indians , and so on . Very shameful to see the way she was pouring ur drink .

    I remember going thru similar problems on my way back to Karachi last year. Although, I had a business class ticket, the service standards and quality were not upto the mark. Shameful ....

    Not too shocking, we took B. A. first class from L. A. to London and the host refused to give my wife another blanket as it was very cold in first class cabin, I jumped up and seriously flipped out at her (which I normally do not do) when she said only one blanket per person. I then found the head host and amazing how fast they had many extra blankets. I filed a complaint and no longer fly B.A. I have no fucking time for stupid people.

      Rocker Dude I am happy that you already knew the reasons as to why would a lowly employee of an airliner would treat a first class passenger the way you were treated. It is the indian-ness that every passenger carries with him. I am sure if they allowed Indians a chance to travel along with the cargo in the cargo compartment by paying the same per kilo weight of about a euro a kilo then even cargo compartment of every plane would go overloaded to the extent that passenger cabins would be empty in the same plane.
