She almost cries at 2:55, as if she was evoking the same emotions that led her to build the song in the first place. She's raw emotion, crystallized human experience. She's so good it I feel like I'm staining it just by listening to her.
autumn rat I just commented that on another live version of this, I felt the same way. this song was introduced to me when I was in a pretty bad place and it did my soul some good to see the change in lyrics. this song has a special place in my heart considering the small amount of time I've known of it
Only my opinion, but the best Newsom is her earlier material with her later voice. The voice matured and settled down, the songs, still great, never were as good as the early stuff.
I love how you can tell she just wants to burst at the seems when she sings and plays- the true sign of a musical genius. Not even her facial expressions can contain her emotion. It's incredible.
I LOVE that this, one of the best PPP performances ever, is apparently only one day after my favorite Baby Birch performance in Melkweg (also on youtube, also UNREAL)
Wow! This rendition of this song is a perfect showcase for the way her voice has evolved - I really love her early style too but when she gets to the "I was blue"-part I really asked myself for one moment: "Kate Bush? Is that you?!"
The first time that I ever heard of her was back in 2005 and this was the first song that I found. It is still to this day my favorite song by her and she has improved so very much with it. She is my muse, she saved my life with her music, and God bless this angel. I felt so alone until I heard her.
Bravo Joanna! This was an exceptionally excellent performance. Your music so intimate with well balanced background support of the orchestra. You look so sweet with the harp in this shot. Thanks cameraman :)
I dont care what anyone says, I LOVE her voice. Infact everything about her is beautiful. That's how it should be. Dont listen to people who say different. She doesnt care. She just plays. AMAZING!!!!
"Peach, Plum, Pear" We speak in the store, I'm a sensitive bore You seem markedly more and I'm oozing surprise But it's late in the day and you're well on your way What was golden went gray and I'm suddenly shy And the gathering floozies afford to be choosy And all sneezing darkly in the dimming divide And I have read the right book to interpret your look You were knocking me down with the palm of your eye This is unlike the story, it was written to be I was riding its back when it used to ride me And we were galloping manic to the mouth of the source We were swallowing panic in the face of its force And I am blue I am blue and unwell Made me bolt like a horse Now it's done Watch it go You've changed so Water runs from the snow And am I so dear? Do I run rare? You've changed so Peach, plum, pear Peach, plum
Oh my god, all of this. I just fill up with all these good feelings every time I listen to her. I don't care about what the naysayers think. I miss her old voice and she is a musical genius.
I can't tell if that's a French Horn or a muted trombone. Hell, it could even be a muted trumpet. It's been so long since I've listened to horns properly :(
WOW.... her vocal style really changed a lot... Well, those comparisons may be lame but at 1:39 just when she hits that one note at the "I was blue" part for one second I had to ask: "Kate Bush? Is that you???"
Imagine if you wrote this song and had all those talented musicians around you playing what you wrote and you were sitting there in the middle of everything and performing it like that
i'm that guy yelling like he's at a sports game @ 3:02
I love how in the last third or so, you can see how much she seems to truly love her harp, almost speaking to it. Beautiful.
She almost cries at 2:55, as if she was evoking the same emotions that led her to build the song in the first place. She's raw emotion, crystallized human experience. She's so good it I feel like I'm staining it just by listening to her.
This is just incredible, probably my favorite live performance of this song
This is the perfect version of this song, it's really awe-inspiring that it was made somehow more beautiful.
Instead of saying "I am blue and unwell" she said "I WAS blue and unwell" IM CRYING SO HARD
autumn rat I just commented that on another live version of this, I felt the same way. this song was introduced to me when I was in a pretty bad place and it did my soul some good to see the change in lyrics. this song has a special place in my heart considering the small amount of time I've known of it
YAS she's been doing that to other tunes as well and I keep crying every time
autumn rat I didn't notice that at first but omg that just makes this even more beautiful!
Oh wow, I always go back to this video to hear this version and I did not pick up on that! Amazing :'] That hits too close to home.
Autumn Miller OMG You changed your name from Autumn RAT to Autumn Miller!! I’m S0BBINgGG. You grew so much, luv you 「
So powerful when those drums kick in. And back to mellow when appropriate. True beauty.
this is perhaps my favorite version of this song
wowwww so pretty aaaah
This is my first time hearing this and I feel free already
I'm not really sure I want to see Joanna live, because I'd be by myself and crying the whole time.
I saw Joanna live by myself, and can confirm that you would be crying the whole time
if you ever want to go ..and we're close we could cry and sing along together. x
I would definitely be crying the whole time, sadly I live really far away so I will live in this world knowing that I've never seen her live
Love the original version and this one too. Even though her voice has changed after her vocal nodes, it's still great :)
Only my opinion, but the best Newsom is her earlier material with her later voice. The voice matured and settled down, the songs, still great, never were as good as the early stuff.
This is so beautiful, magical and perfect. I'm amazed 💗
She has so much more control over her voice now, but still has that unique quality to it! I love it!
As much as I LOVE the original, I can't help but wish this was the recorded version.
God I want this version of the song on my ipod too. So I can listen to both versions
omg ancient comments
Seeing her live in a month from now. So happy to be able to witness an artist of her caliber in my lifetime.
I love how you can tell she just wants to burst at the seems when she sings and plays- the true sign of a musical genius. Not even her facial expressions can contain her emotion. It's incredible.
I think this is my favorite version of this song. love her voice in this one.. :)
i thought i couldn't love this song anymore and then i saw this video
I LOVE that this, one of the best PPP performances ever, is apparently only one day after my favorite Baby Birch performance in Melkweg (also on youtube, also UNREAL)

This version has such an amazing drive to it. And the note she hits on the first syllable of 'golden' is just perfect.
She makes me feel safe
I just love how each of her performances are different, but they're all so amazing in their own way
Wow! This rendition of this song is a perfect showcase for the way her voice has evolved - I really love her early style too but when she gets to the "I was blue"-part I really asked myself for one moment: "Kate Bush? Is that you?!"

"No description available" is right.
This seems like such an emotional and intense performance. Lovely.
This is incredible to watch. I agree with the earlier comment made, totally hypnotized by her playing.
she's so lovely, as is this song
I saw Joanna perform Tuesday 11/16/10 in Tampa Florida at the Ritz theater . The Crowd was primed and she was stoked!!! Totally awesome show.
Life changing . So much emotion
Such talent. Her songs are contagious.
Bravo Joanna! This was an exceptionally excellent performance. Your music so intimate with well balanced background support of the orchestra. You look so sweet with the harp in this shot. Thanks cameraman :)
this version needs to be recorded.

So beautiful and incredibly touching. Bravo!
1:38 Sheeeeeit. That perfect vibrato made me puke rainbows all over the place!
Simplesmente genial. Maravilhosa!
I had to fight back tears when I heard this earlier tonight. It really blew my mind.
The strings in this are absolutely perfect.
Maravilhosa..❤❤👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I dont care what anyone says, I LOVE her voice. Infact everything about her is beautiful. That's how it should be. Dont listen to people who say different. She doesnt care. She just plays. AMAZING!!!!
I'm crying, i don't know why. what is this feeling
"Peach, Plum, Pear"
We speak in the store, I'm a sensitive bore
You seem markedly more and I'm oozing surprise
But it's late in the day and you're well on your way
What was golden went gray and I'm suddenly shy
And the gathering floozies afford to be choosy
And all sneezing darkly in the dimming divide
And I have read the right book to interpret your look
You were knocking me down with the palm of your eye
This is unlike the story, it was written to be
I was riding its back when it used to ride me
And we were galloping manic to the mouth of the source
We were swallowing panic in the face of its force
And I am blue
I am blue and unwell
Made me bolt like a horse
Now it's done
Watch it go
You've changed so
Water runs from the snow
And am I so dear?
Do I run rare?
You've changed so
Peach, plum, pear
Peach, plum

I can't tell if that's a French Horn or a muted trombone. Hell, it could even be a muted trumpet. It's been so long since I've listened to horns properly :(
Joanna, where are you? :(
I can't believe I was in Paris when this happened. And I didn't go.
I'll never forgive myself. Gah!
IM DEAD
WOW.... her vocal style really changed a lot... Well, those comparisons may be lame but at 1:39 just when she hits that one note at the "I was blue" part for one second I had to ask: "Kate Bush? Is that you???"
I'm a dude, and this is one of my favorite songs :/ No one knows.
Imagine if you wrote this song and had all those talented musicians around you playing what you wrote and you were sitting there in the middle of everything and performing it like that
