Artosis, let me tell you something to make you feel better. This guy is the famous low APM Chinese player, ID Shuiyazi, who beat the korean pro gamer "Free" in a ladder game with a 2-base carriers strategy . Free was cursing his opponent cheating in his live broadcast, but later he has to apologize to his fans after he checked the replay....haha....

The apm is 105 because the last 1/2 of the game was just killing stuff with a group of carriers.

I laughed out loud at the fart noise when the Valks got wrecked by the Scouts. I genuinely thought that'd be the other way around.
Scouts have insanely high air-to-air DPS. Unless you have a lot of Valks, Scouts will always win.
Not sure why Artosis still thinks Valks are counters to Scouts. Snow also laughed about this.
Scouts are tanky af, they're just expensive as all getup

Artosis, serious comment. I've been watching you for many many many years, since when GSL first started. We are the exact same age. I am a chef for a living, and on a day to day and for years i have to deal with extreme pressure. This is NOT a troll.. but when i watch your body language while you play BW you just seem to be tense which I think may affect your gameplay. An old French chef who trained me told me once.. "You must have a COLD mind, but a warm body". This might get some laughs but I really wanted to share this with you.
Also-- I know the ladder sucks and all the smurfs and stuff, and being unlucky... but the fact that your passion for SC gets involved with your emotions its gonna prevent you from growing as a player. You literally just have to be emotionless.. dead... Honestly from a bro to a bro I hope you might read this.

Yeah it shows how pro macro can overcome how expensive scouts are against a worse player since they're good units ignoring cost.
I mean there is no world where artosis is 'mediocre' either, hes better than 99% of players who have ever played this game, but there are still people that are just that much better than he is

agreed. artosis would never admit it but if you can win with 1/2 or 1/3 of the APM then you're making better decisions and your actions are more meaningful

@@EB-bl6cc Absolutely. I have knew a terran that was between a B and an A players who was around 100 apm using minimal hotkeys. Artosis said in a video 180 apm as a terran is a d player, which is just silly. It depends on the specific player and the decisions they're making.

Artrosis, lets be honest, about half of your APM are actual inputs, the other half is just you mindlessly spamming keys while mining in the early game
Half is APM is him undoing the bad moves the other half of his caused

His macro was flawless, his micro impeccable, his decision making slow yet his willpower unassailable. I suggest you watch the replay and take notes of his playstyle; encountering a player of such calibre on the ladder is an exceedingly rare occurrence. You should consider yourself lucky.
The guys in the chat are really funny lauging at 100apm when most of them probably barely have 1700mmr and we have seen from streams of them playing and some have 50 💀
Exactly, it depends on your skill level. I literally knew a guy who's APM was like 80 with minimal hotkeys, and his main race was terran, but he was good at every race. He was nasty good, and would crush all those people laughing with his 80 apm. I have seen him beat b+ A- players with 280 APM. I told him he would probably be a pro if he started using hotkeys and got his APM up.

No need to overthink apm.
Even if you have consistently higher apm during the game, decision making is something you need to get right almost every single beat.
Even a single decision in the wrong direction can undo all what the apm did for you the last 10 minutes.
I can see the other player watching a movie eating snacks, while he plays starcraft on the side just barely paying attention.
Carrier micro in a nutshell
I play at 70 APM and beat a 250 APM high APM usually just means you spam a bunch rather than making actions that matter.

This protoss also had 200-250 APM. 105 is only his average for the whole game, and last 20 minutes he was playing without a working base with 1 control group of units.
Arty does so so many useless things. He will spend 15 seconds microing vultures while he has 7 factories not producing anything. His coaching sessions with Scan were so frustrating as rather than just listen to scan and actually trying to implement what he says to do he just argued with him.

The protoss not feeling any pressure at least from vultures eventually pumped the whole economy into scouts but it still was entertaining to watch regardless. I used to do the same when i was playing Brood War to try to get out from the very repetitive meta that everyone was doing.
Just bumrushing the opponent's base in that situation _has_ to be the right call... I mean, he barely had any buildings!
Base trading is often the right move when you have 6 bases to the enemy's 2

Maybe a stupid question but why dosnt he just Target the actual carriers and not just the millions of whatver they are called that the carrier's themselves prodruce?
Once there's that many carriers, your goliaths can't even close in on them. The goliaths will evaporate as they try to walk close enough and the carriers? They will move over some terrain and your goliaths will bump into each other and the terrain. Goliaths are meant to counter guardians, battlecruisers, arbiters, shoot down transports...but they really don't do good vs carriers as we see over and over again. Ideally a terran doesn't let the protoss get so many carriers out, it's basically a timer and once 6+ carriers are out terran loses.

Additionally, once all a player's buildings are destroyed then they lose, no matter what units they have.
Edit: Base kill would have won the game, yeah. Got all the nexus being destroyed and all buildings being destroyed mixed up.

In the first game wouldn’t you keep you’re goliaths further from the carriers to take out interceptors and take less damage? Especially since arty was certain he hadn’t been mining?? Meantime monitor bases he might expand to? We didn’t see the whole match I guess but that’s my thinking

I don't think 105APM is really THAT low, especially considering it probably dropped off hard once he had an army of a single control group for several minutes. He was probably averaging about 2 commands per second or higher from the start of the game, which... do you really need more than that to be effective if you're always issuing decent commands or exploiting weak spots in your opponent?
It's the floor for playing Starcraft effectively at a competitive level. Obviously playing protoss helps a lot when your APM is low haha...I'd like to see someone win with 100 APM as zerg!
Well plus it's against Arty, who often just turtles and usually puts no pressure on his opponent, so if you're macroing carriers and the opponent is just turtling in his bases it doesn't take a bunch of APM to win. If you want to exploit a low APM opponent you need to attack him, preferably with multi-prong aggression. If he can't step up his APM, you'll crush him.
I mean it's Protoss... 105apm Carrier a&move
If that group of carriers was all the opponent had, why not counterattack their base or even try to win a zero-buildings victory, rather than chasing their unkillable army? Or if the opponent doesn't expand anywhere, why not expand all over the map and evacuate endangered SCVs instead of fighting? If the carriers are in the bottom left, then they can't do anything about expos in the top right, for example. In contrast, having all your bases hugging the left side seemingly made things very easy for the carriers.

Because of unit size types and shields/armor…valks suck against carriers. They do no dmg to them.
Valks do no damage to interceptors and their missiles only do 25% to carriers. These aren't liberators
