Three Amazing Corvettes: All Original 1960 Corvette and 1959 and 1967 Corvette Restomods

John Pitz had the opportunity to speak with a classic car collector named Les. Les’s garage features three breathtaking classic Corvettes: the 1960 Corvette, 1959 Corvette, and the 1967 Corvette. The 1959 and 1967 are Restomod Corvettes. Les explained that a Restomod Corvette means that the body of the Corvette is restored while certain features of the vehicle have received modern upgrades. #corvette #restomod #chevrolet
Les began our tour by showing us his Triple Crown Winner 1960 Original Corvette. The car won NCRS Top Flight Award, Bloomington Gold, and the Chicago Silver Spinner Award.
The 1960 Chevrolet Corvette was restored in Carmel, Indiana, and the restoration is 100% faithful to Chevy’s original production. The vehicle is the same as Chevrolet’s original assembly down to every nut-and-bolt.
The 1960 Chevrolet Corvette’s breathtaking body is a Sateen Silver color with a red interior. The sports car also features both a hardtop and a convertible top.
Next, we moved on to the 1959 Restomod Corvette. Although its shell is an original 1959 Chevrolet Corvette, it’s equipped with a modern chassis, suspension, heating and AC system, Bluetooth, and brakes. It also sports a powerful LS3 500-horsepower fuel-injected engine.
Les said that he would have preferred to restore the 1959 Chevy Corvette to its original specifications rather than create a Restomod, but the car was in no such condition when he found it. The engine, transmission, and other essential components were missing from the sports car.
The 1959 Restomod Corvette boasts a stunning black and silver exterior and gorgeous red interior design, and the powerhouse vehicle only weighs 2,500 pounds. Les cheerfully described his 1959 Restomod Corvette as a “rocket ship.”
Finally, Les showed us his 1967 Restomod Corvette. The Corvette sports a restored body as well as zero-six components, modern brakes, modern electronic components, and cross-drilled rotors. It’s equipped with a powerful 525 LS3 motor, and it boasts a breathtaking interior that mimics a Mercedes-Benz luxury vehicle.
John Pitz was stunned by the Restomod’s paintwork, finish, and beautiful interior. He observed that the detail within the sports car’s engine bay is remarkable. He also loved how valve covers mimic that of the original 1967 Corvette.
Les observed that one advantage of owning a Restomod rather than a complete restoration is that they’re more practical. Les has owned 1967 Corvettes in the past, but he loves his Restomod because its modifications enable him to enjoy it on the road.
The beauty and utility of assembling a Restomod Corvette are far from easy. Les described how it takes over a year and a half to assemble the different necessary parts and build the modified restoration.
