You do amazingly good videos. My 2006 997 had the exact same issue after about 40K miles. Be sticky between 4th and 5th when it was cold. After warm, it was better. My shop, which does a lot of race prep and normal work, recommended Motul 75W 90 gear oil.
It TOTALLY solved the shift issue. Been great ever since. Use Motul engine oil too. Good stuff..Wish you hadn’t sold this car and were my neighbor. Great job. A+++

Thank you so much! I try my best. I went with the OEM Porsche stuff and it worked great. Instant difference and only got better my last few months with her. I’m definitely getting another 911 in the future.

Great vid man, my car is in at the minute for gearbox oil replacement, did it on my 996 but also put RSS semi solid engine mounts and what a difference it made. So this time wanted to do the change one at a time to see which made the biggest difference. I’ll let you know 👍🏼

I read a bunch before i did it. For some people it didn’t really make a difference for others it did. For me it made a huge difference, especially winter driving.

This was exactly what I was looking for. My 997 shifts terribly when cold. It has done it since I got it. Changed the Fluid (which looked brand new when I drained) to mobil delvac, which I thought was OEM fluid. After more research it is for the GT2/3, as it is a thicker spec and more suited for track use. This made it even worse. Like you it takes around 30 minutes for my transmission to shift good. Just took out a loan to buy some liquid gold from Porsche (Supposed to be delivered this weekend). Hope my results are similar to yours.

Hey, thanks for watching and commenting! Changing to the OEM Porsche factory fluid made a world of difference! When I sold my 997 it was shifting smooth as butter! I think all the confusion comes from the massive list of fluids that are “compatible” this transmission is very finicky tho especially during the colder months. The difference was night and day in my scenario. Hope it works for you as well.

Man!! That gear oil look pretty clean. Guess it depends on what kind/brand it was if you had notchy shifting. Edit: and you literally just said the same thing.

Right on these cars are a little sensitive to the transmission fluid. When I went OEM it solved my issues for sure. Thanks for watching commenting and subscribing.

@@KRTLyfe just changed mine with the Mobile 1 PTX. Definitely noticed a difference.

I would love to know about the trans as well! Made in Japan! Never thought I would see that on a German car

There is more information on the Porsche forums. Might be a good read.

Why jack the car up 3 inches? Why not lift it higher

Absolutely, if you have the means to do so you should.
