  • Caitlin Clark, the promising NCAA standout now making waves with the Indiana Fever in the WNBA, has strongly condemned the misuse of her name to bolster racist and misogynistic viewpoints online. The controversy erupted following her exclusion from the 2024 U.S. women's Olympic basketball team, with social media users unfairly attributing it to reverse discrimination. Additionally, criticism intensified after Clark faced aggressive fouls in her early professional games.
Expressing her dismay, Clark emphasized, "People should not be using my name to push those agendas. It's disappointing. It's not acceptable." She stressed the importance of treating all women in the league with respect, labeling it a fundamental human principle.
Initially reluctant to engage with the issue earlier in the day, Clark later acknowledged, "I don't dwell on things like that. Basketball is my focus." However, her response drew criticism from fellow player DiJonai Carrington of the Connecticut Sun, who tweeted, "How can one not be bothered by their name being used to justify racism, bigotry, misogyny, and other forms of discrimination? We all have a voice and a platform."
Clark's stance underscores her commitment to fair treatment and dignity for all women athletes, despite the distractions and criticisms she faces in her career.

It's worth the effort to not be like them.
