Carmelo was on FIRE this game, such an underrated and sadly not as well remembered player.
Underrated for sure, but he's top 10 scoring all time and was the Olympic USA most points of all time until Durant broke it 2 years ago. Melo will definitely be remembered

@@orlandowilliamson691yeah I just heard Bill Simmons say the 2024 team is the best one after 92 and others debating it but hell no. 08 or 12 definitely with all these guys in their prime. I'd probably go with 08 because Wade was still insane and Kobe was lethal and prime Dwight Howard on D was the perfect anchor and a nightmare athletically. Plus J Kidd still young enough one of the greatest floor generals ever just makes any offense chemistry enhanced. Prime super athletic Lebron too obviously but he was apex Bron in 08 and 12. Game the 24 team just had against Serbia wouldve been a blowout if it was the 08 team.

Here after barely scraping by South Sudan… 2012 Had Superstar IQ, & Hall of Fame Leadership From 4 of 5 Starters… unlike this 2024 team which just seems to be talented.
Don't forget 2012 was this rosters prime. Kobe's in 16th season but still can ball. LeBron, Dwade, Melo? You add KD there. Man! Dwill and CP3 as guards? Tyson Chandler in the 5, plus Harden and Westbrook then Add Iggy, KLove and rookie AD. They're fast and super athletic.
2024 is more like a fan service. Still can ball but Bron, KD and Steph are like 3 aged Kobes. Tatum and Booker are not on the level of explosiveness as Lebron, wade and melo in 2012.
I still think USA will sweep the Olympics but I expect close and nearly choking games.
