Now-a-days keeping the classics on the road has become a bit difficult due to the Cretas, and Fortuners rolling around like darth-vadars. But for new cars, you can use them for up-to 25 years with minimum maintenance. Yes, you need to find an agent to get the RC renewed every 5 years after initial 15 years are up. And the pollution certificate can be an issue for diesels. Anyway it's just last couple of decades left for ICE cars. Soon electrics will replace everything and then it's just lots of silent boxes on the road. No fun in that...

Sir, you run neck and neck with my top three car guy You Tubers. Love the fact your lady and son work with you and seem to thoroughly enjoy doing so. Wish I lived next door to a car guy like you like I did in the ‘70s.
My first car was a ‘72 Chrysler Newport Custom 4dr sedan. Paid $250 for it in ‘78. Beautiful beast. My buddy had a ‘70 Dodge Polara. In ‘80, he was given a ‘69 Cadillac Sedan DeVille. Owner passed away and the wife wanted it gone.
It had a few rust bubbles and had some paint issues as it was an outside stored car. He rattle can sprayed it primer grey. He dubbed it The Grey Ghost.
Gorgeous Burgundy leather interior. She’d lay a pair of black stripes on the road as long as you kept your foot on the pedal. He put in dual exhaust that exited in front of the rear wheels sans mufflers. She was a beautiful, ungodly loud beast.
I really like your channel. You have the balls so few people have these days. Love seeing you and others raise from the dead, these old land yachts.
Thinking I’m going to go out this weekend in the driveway and turn a wrench or two on my ‘70 Buick Electra 225 Custom, 4dr sedan. She’s a driver, not a trailer queen, a decent 20 footer.
Take care man, keep up with the “good” stuff!
RustyFuryIII - My handle. Yup, owned a ‘71 Plymouth Fury III 2 dr. Rust holes in big enough for my then 4yr old son to poke his head thru.
Sorry so long winded. I’m old…

I would love to see you transplant the 472 and TH400 into something like a 2wd square body. Those engines make great power especially a 1969. A little knowledge I can share about them. Replace the timing chain and gears... The factory set is garbage. eBay sells a really nice shaft mounted roller rocker set up. Putting the Edelbrock intake and a good carburetor on it will substantially increase the horsepower and torque along with a set of headers. Finally if no one has been there ahead of you, the crankshaft is tapped 9/16-18 but there will be no bolt only a cork installed at the plant to keep the threads clean. You need a good puller/installer for the the harmonic balancer. Sorry for being long winded, just would like to see you do something cool with it. I really enjoy watching your content and how you keep things real.

Carb cleaning story: Back in the 60's my buds and I used to rent a lift at a gas station near a main intersection in Seattle for $.75 an hour to hop-up our cars. One day we heard that pouring kerosene down a Holley carb would clean it out and make it run better. We were busily pouring the second quart of kerosene into the holley of my revved up ford 352 when we heard horns honking nearby. We turned to see that a huge thick white cloud of smoke had drifted over the center of the 4 lane intersection and completely jammed traffic. True story.

I love these motors, my c10 that I've had since high-school has one. I'd recommend changing the 69 pie cut flex plate with a early-mid 70s solid flex plate because they're known to break. Also if you find 70+ eldorado oil pan and pickup you'll need to modify the pickup tube because the oil port on the 68 69 motors are smaller. Also highly recommended is spending $40 on the oil pump rebuild kit because they do randomly fail. All that and a cheap lunati regrind cam kit and your good to go

To make a 13 second car you will need a 29x9 inch slick with a 3:55 gear ratio and a small stall converter 2900 lbs should run mid to high 12s. Low 13 with stock converter keep the rpm redline at 4500 to have valve train live.

She's a beaut! My limited experience with older Caddys says, because of the fact it's a Fleetwood, it might have a Controlled Differential. Caddy speak for a posi. Also if the odo shows 104K, and the timing chain hasn't been replaced, it's passed time for it to fail and valves to kiss the pistons. Other than that, it should run forever, assuming you don't over rev it.
