Collwyn Jones With you on that. Replaced the battery successfully in a Swiss Military and cracked the sapphire crystal pressing the case back on - doh! I could see me cracking a new crystal while pressing it into the case.
I dropped my beloved Seiko 5 SNZH57K1 from about 5.5 ft.!! The glass is all scratched up and the seconds hand just swings around. I feel so stupid for the way I hung it on the coat hanger. 😞 I hope it can still be saved. They're not selling this model anymore. 😖
Hi...can a sapphire replacement be made if it does not come standard I have a citizen divers but citizen tells me the model does not come with sapphire only hardlex.

I practiced on a busted up Seiko 5 first. It's a good idea. Have patience, get the right tools, prepare and take your time! You got this! Once you do it, you'll be like "well that was easy".

How much do you press to insert the new glass? I have a screw press, I think I should press until pressure needed become very big zn glass do not longer moves. What is the right size of the glass?
All my new Sea-gull watches have Sapphire crystals. My vintage watches all have acrylic. So less to worry about. Acrylic polishes up easily with polywatch. Cheap to buy and replace too. I was given a Seiko with a hardlex crystal and scratched it badly within 6 weeks. I don't use it in case I scratch it again. I will get a Sapphire fitted soon.
