Ice Cube" How to survive in South Central"..
Oh, that cut is a CLASSIC!!
A place where busting a cap is fundamental… no
Cube wasn't playing games when he released this. Must have been crazy to listen to on the 90s.
Cube was ruthless in the 90's especially after he went solo and formed da Lynch Mob.
He wasn't calling any of them gay per se, it's more so 'this dude (the manager) is screwing y'all over'. You saw in the movie, Ice Cube refused to sign the contract because he knew it was something shady about it....
yep, it's all just a metaphor for how they're all getting 'screwed' in a business sense. "with no vaseline" meaning they're doing it to you in the worst way.
Quiet is kept, Eazy was pullin' the strings, and let Jerry catch the smoke, while he was eatin' off everybody else's plate.
suga how you get so fly
No. Nobody responded because they couldn’t. Dre threw some jabs on the Chronic but him and Cube squashed it shortly after. IMO this is the greatest diss track ever. Here’s why, Cube helped form NWA, wrote a lot of material to build up arguably the greatest hip hop group of all time. He destroyed them and made them break the group up. Maybe not the best lyrically but when I think of greatest diss records, it’s what it did to its intended target. This and Ether are the best to me. Check out Ice Cube - True to the Game
Greatest no question
No Vasaline and Ether are really great, but you should also give a listen to Paper Plates by GZA (50Cent diss). In my opinion, that is the greatest diss track ever ✌
Common - The Bitch in Yoo was a devastating Ice Cube diss, and very overlooked
@@MatadorShifter
Exactly, no one expected Common Sense to fire back and that hard!
No Doubt Lord. Peace!
Im a bit sad that you haven't noticed how hard were Ice Cube's bars.
About the Arnold bar, Dre called Cube "Benedict Arnold" (the american traitor) and how Cube reversed it like "Calling me Arnold but you been-a-dick" (benedict)
theres like 3 different meanings to that line too. Been a dick, like he's calling dre an asshole. Benedict like benedict arnold, and bent-a-dick cus he's calling dre gay.
@@idk-mk2pj this too!
They attached Cube first for leaving the group and he responded with no Vaseline.
I stopped everything I’m doing just to tune in for this
Same, lol
The greatest Hip Hop diss EVER. Cube was the ONLY MC to take out an entire crew at the height of their popularity. Not 2mention nobody, I mean NOBODY wanted any smoke wit N.W.A. who was thought of as raps most dangerous group.
its a good ass diss but id say hit em up is the best diss in hip hop in my opinion
@@cianvmr2828 agree to disagree.. 1v4 vs 4v1 and this was way more personal
agreed. No Vasline greatest diss record ever. Legendary
Necro of the century but have a listen to mf grimm’s book of Daniel, he goes HARD on mf doom and it’s probably the most personal and painful diss track I’ve ever heard. That might just be the doom fan bias tho 💀
Before NWA, there was "World Class Wreckin Crew" that's what Cube meant by Dre and Yella wearing lip gloss and stuff. They had the legendary track with Michel Le called "Turn Off The Lights" It was a TOTALLY different time period back then. Cube was basically saying that everybody in NWA was getting screwed/sodomized financially/creatively by their manager/record label owner.....with NO vaseline, lol.
fucking loved it
Dre did wear makeup on an album cover back when he was with World Class Wrecking Cru. Had his hair slicked back too. Oh and Yella did an interview with DJ Vlad and said they all knew they lost to Cube.
Yella said that when he heard this he knew Cube won the beef. There was no responding to this. There's actually really funny scene in the movie Straight Outta Compton where NWA and Jerry Heller listen to this song for the first time.
no matter where u place it..this is in the top 5 diss tracks ever...Cube went so incredibly hard
It's number 1, no contest.
It's gotta be #1, there really hasn't been something so ruthless since.
@@primary2630 hit em up and ether are close , I have them at #2 & 3 behind this song. No Vaseline is easily the best diss track of all time
NWA dissed him for leaving the group and going solo and this was his response.
I like how this kid analyze and. Pays attention to the lyrics … great job!
Ice Cube "Push Rhymes like weight"
His name was Jerry Heller
The song is a metaphor. He basically saying the whole group got screwed by Jerry Heller and Eazy E. Cube was the only one who didn’t sign a contract. The rest of them signed while Cube had his lawyer look at it. Contract was shady so he didn’t sign. When he approached Jerry and Eazy about it and asking for his money, he got denied so he left the group. When he left, NWA dissed him on a interlude called B.A. (Benedict Arnold)….which is why Cube said in No Vaseline “Calling me Arnold but you been a d!ck…” and they dissed him on a song called Real Niggaz.
So Cube basically said “look niggas, y’all talking greasy about me for leaving but check your contracts, y’all goofy mofos is getting screwed, with no vaseline!”
The song was scathing enough to make Dre actually look into his contract. He found that Cube was telling the truth so he and Eazy fell out and Dre left and started Deathrow. Ren stayed. Yella left and became a porn director. And NWA was finished.
Couldn’t have said it any better
Despite what the onscreen lyrics say, the real lyric is "bent-a-dick"... Was slang for getting forcefully f'd in the ass with no lube, so much so that the d bends.
Jerry Heller was Eazy’s manager.
He was the group’s manager.
Steady Mobbin is a good one. So is my summer vacation. I’m biased though because death certificate is my favorite album lol. There’s also givin up the nappy dugout
Ice Cube - True To The Game
Ice Cube - I wanna Kill Sam. You should listen to the entire Death Certificate album. One of the greatest HipHop albums ever.
200 years later and this sht is still 🔥🔥
Ice Cube "Be true to the Game"
Ice Cube,
"Jackin' for Beats"
Also, Dre and Yella were in a group before NWA called “World Class Wreckin Crew” they made a lot of funk and ballad records. They wasn’t rapping. They used to wear lacy, feminine clothing, kinda looking like some Prince knock-offs.
What he meant by the lipstick and lace comment was Dre got his start in a Dance Rap band called The World Class Wreckin Crew. You can find their videos on here.
Ice Cube has a bunch of great songs. One of the best is My Summer Vacation.
Very underrated
Right when you thought the album was over this song came on. It wasn't on the track list so it surprised everyone.
Joint was cold. Cube was a beast in the 90s. Check out "you know how we do it" by ice cube..
No Vaseline is the best dis track ever IMO. Do Ice Cube Gansta Rap made me do it.
Ice Cube "Little ass G" Eerie gumbo remix on the Bootlegs and B sides album..
Ice Cube - You Know How We Do It
For some more Cube/NWA you should check out "The D.O.C. - The Grand Finale feat. N.W.A." all of NWA is on it, back before things got bad enough for Cube to write this diss lmao.
Great reaction. This is the gold standard for a diss track. Many would put Tupac's Hit Em Up above No Vaseline, and I can't hate on that, but I think this is a better diss while Hit Em Up is a better song.
Another Ice Cube classic is Jackin' for beats, how to survive in south central
If you want more jabs check out his 1st ep going solo called Jackin' for Beats. Here a challenge for you. There are 9 samples on this song how many people know the sample beats he used on this song
That is one of my favorite. Especially when he jacked Public Enemy’s Beat.
Classic!!!
No they didn't respond because they dissed him first. That was his response
Yeah but they still could have responded. They didn't because they couldn't.
True indeed. They started it. He refrained from even mentioning them in his whole first album. Then they got the bright idea to dis Cube. That’s why the opening line is, “Got damn I’m glad y’all set it off!” Check out #aquick10withcoachandcals Top 10 Dis Songs!
Well Dr dre threw a couple Jabs at him on the chronic the song nuthin but a good thang he said mobbing like a mother****** but I ain't lynching and dre day on the third verse when him and snoop dogg said then we gonna go to creep through South central on a street knowledge mission as I step in the temple spot him shot him pull my strap on his white Sox hat try to check my homie you must check yourself because if you diss dre you dissed yourself
This was HUGE when it first came out. We ain't never heard such a dis on record before this.
Jerry Heller was the manager
The Mother of all diss tracks.
jerry heller
So many people jus comment what they want to see in a vid, Had to scroll for a while to find this comment.
Thanks.
Its so much better when you understand the lyrics so N.W.A.’s album was 100 miles and running so Ice cube said you run 100 miles but you still get one to go with the LENCHMOB because Cube new crew was the Lench mob, Then he said now I got to do the silence of the lambs well that was a movie about a serial killer who was also a cannibal, So cute was basically saying I’m a murder them, Then he was talking about an old TV mini series in the 70s Rooots, about skavery , called him kunta Kintay and then said he got a whip for you Toby because they was whipping Kunta Kintay until he said that his name was Toby, Then he said and she ran I remember when you drove B210, That was a Datsun B210 car just an old cheap ass car from early 80s
Ice Cube is the best lyrically, he wrote there rhymes!
“Real Muthaphuckin G’s” Eazy E
My fav diss song of all time!!!
Do Ghetto Vet by Cube 🔥🔥🔥🔥
The hardest reference was when he called eazy-e kunta kinte,(from roots) and said, "I gotta whip for ya toby!" (Which was kuntas' slave name from roots)
Ice Cube "Once upon a time in the projects"..
New subscriber here. Loved your reaction. This ish is a classic!! Cube is rough! Frfr! 😳🤣
Ice Cube’s single-> “Everythang’s Corrupt” off that album is dope. ✌🏼
Ice Cube "Really Doe"..
Ice Cube "We be clubbi'n"..
Common, "The Bitch In Yoo".
Cube came at Common, Common responded.
Cube and chuck d endangered species
1 of the best songs on the album
Ice cube wrote every word for every emcee in NWA except Mc wren , and he was not paid for it! He made easy a star with his lyrics and teaching him how to rap, jerry heller was the manager .. it gets deeper .. they gave yella writing credits and not ice cube! Yella was a DJ not a producer or rapper he was more a close friend to Dre, they thought that Mc wren could take over the writing for Easy E and he did but he didn’t have ice cube flare for writing and hooks on songs! At the time it was a bold move for ice cube but he became super successful leaving the group !
Ice Cubes
"When will they shoot" absolutely relevant to today's police situation
Nobody was gay. He was referring to Jerry Haller getting them for their money. He was robbing them blind and Ice Cube was the only one that peep it. It's in the movie that's why he left the group.
Manager name is Jerry
Ice Cube went hard true hitter. He pick the right jam " Disco Dazz " Brick
Ice Cube "Wicked"..
Good stuff man. I’ve been waiting for this one.
NWA " ALWAYS INTO SOMETHING " ( JUST GAVE YOU THAT 🔥 BRO)
They dissed Cube first. Dre called him Benedict Arnold, hence Cube saying "you Ben-a-dick" Great reaction tho! 🤣
Kool G rap feat Scarface, bushwick bill and ice cube - two to the head
We been waiting on it, Ahmad
LOL!!!...Cube got you young man
It was a double shot message....the initial thing is he was calling them gay....but he was saying Eazy and Jerry (the manager) was f'ing them out of their money, for the work they were doing. Cube left because Jerry want him to sign a contract without reading it, when Cube was already feeling like he wasn't getting what he deserved. As tough of a diss track as this is, it was still a club banger- fun song. I was living in Long Beach at the time, and no matter what club you went to, Compton, Long Beach, SC, etc etc...this song was in heavy rotation, and the dance floor would be packed.
This is one of the top 5 diss records ever. Cube went HARD
Cube wasn’t saying anyone was gay in the literal sense he was saying metaphorically they must be gay cause their manager was fucking them (out of money).. cube was smart enough to bail.. this is the best dis of all time.. no response because there was nothing to be said, he dumped out the purse.. this is why u don’t try to out write the writer.. cube for the win
My favorite diss, I prefer this diss over hit’em up…………”Really doe”, and “Summer Vacation” are good Ice cube songs
If you like diss records, you've GOT to do DJ Quik - Dollaz and Sense
Trespass with him and ice t is pretty good too
Another classick diss!! Good lookin bro, keep em comin!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Ice Cube "Extradition".
Jerry Heller was their manager that he was referring to
After Cube left NWA,(over financial disputes), the whole beef started with a line Dre dropped, aimed at Cube, on the title track of NWA’s EP, 100 Miles And Runnin’; “It s tarted with five and, yo, one couldn't take it.
So now there's four 'cause the fifth couldn't make it”
After that Cube responded with a line aimed back at them at the end of a song called Jackin’ For Beats.
On their follow up album, EFIL4ZAGGIN(Niggaz 4 Life spelled backwards), they came with Alwayz Into Somethin’, a skit called Message To B.A., and the track Real Niggaz(which was previously on released on 100 Miles And Runnin’), all of which led up to Cube coming out with a diss track that in my opinion upped the ante for diss records.
The reason why NWA didn’t respond is because the group was already falling apart. NWA’s manager’s name was Jerry Heller.
This song was sampled from the song “Dazz” (disco jazz) from a group named “Brick”. Cuba Gooding jr’s father was in that group.
Noooooooo! SLEEPY BROWN'S FATHER WAS IN THE BAND "BRICK"!!! CUBA'S FATHER SANG LEAD FOR"THE MAIN INGREDIENT!
Ice Cube "Who got the camera"..
Ice Cube "Jacki'n for Beats"...
Good reaction 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
He was basically letting them know that their contracts were bogus. That's why he left. Dre said that this woke him up and shortly after he was gone from Ruthless records.
Fucking BOMB SQUAD!!! The best production team in the history of hip hop! NO ONE has EVER made beats like that!!!!
Nah bruh that wasn’t bomb squad on this. This was Sir Jinx.
@@vegasway32 You are correct! My bad... 😎 Cube was working with Bomb Squad at the time, so I missed the details. 💯
Ice Cube/Daz Effects "Check yo self"
The b*$# in you by common is a monster... he went at cube, mack 10 and W.C... Basically destroyed their mainstream careers
"ghetto bird" 🔥🔥🔥
Greatest diss track in hip hop history.
They came back at ice cube on the album even had a Message to B.A. then dissed him again . They kept coming at Cube. One song Dre goes to pick up Ren and hear shots it was Ren on the trigger Ren to Dre I was speaking to your B, O’shay
Now I Gotta Wet Ya……sick beat and Cube kills it
#1 Diss Track. EVER! can't be defeated. I remember when this came out.
Ice Cube "Wicked"
Here is a line they use to diss Ice Cube.
We started out wit too much cargo
So I'm glad we got rid of Benedict Arnold
Ice Cube use those line to diss them back. Ice cube was very clever with his bars.
Ice Cube - Wicked
NWA diss Ice First on the 100 miles and running EP. Ice cube left because the manager was taking the money . Plus he wanted to them to sign a contract where he and Easy get paid out anything they do. Ice Cube saw it coming so he went solo. Jerry and Easy signed them as entertainers not rappers. This means if they appear in a movie, they get paid too.
Ice Cube was not going to diss them until they started it. Ice used their own lines against them in the song. The open was about the early days of NWA. Then Cube left, they started dissing him. This is why the opening bar was I am glad y’all set it off. Now Ice cube was going to go at then harder than they did him.
This pure rap because he took a topic and went deeper than what was on the surface . He was telling them how they are getting screwing over. They were getting it bad because management was not using Vaseline. He was basically seeing they were easy and jJerry prisoners (money wise). What happen to guys in prison. They get took with no Vaseline. That is why he said they are taking your green out your __ like an ATM.
This was rap at it finest where you build your entire diss off a common theme. You might have said Jerry was the warden and Easy was his deputy warden. The rest of NWA were prisoners , but Ice cube escaped. The song is much deeper than the surface. Listen to the 100 miles and running and this song will make more senses. .
React to Westside Connection king of the hill (Westside Connection is a group with Ice Cube, Mack 10, & W.C.)
Ice Cube "please listen to my demo"..
That's Epmd you probably talking about record company pimpin
@@tavaresthomas6016 : Na, Not the EPMD one. Cube's has the same title . You are speaking of the right song though..
1:40 Dr. Dre & Yella were in a group called World Class Wrecking Cru.
They wore shit coming off of the disco era. Sequin pants, rhinestones, etc
Thank you for having this channel because it shows the new generation called rappers or Trappers that they haven't created nothing new me and Foxy Brown the same age yes sir at the age of 16 we was doing things like that , a lot of money to be made and having fun and losing loved ones that was a life and we lived it and we walked and we talked it
You need to check out the reunion joint they did with Snoop called " Chin Check"
Ice Cube:
Once upon a time in the projects
My Summer Vacation
Gangsta's make the world round (Westside Connection)
Friday
"no Vaseline and king of the hill" still top 5 diss of all time
This is the best diss track he dissed all of them by himself
#LoveAndPeace right back at ya, lil' bro. \m/
Ayy man check out Ice cube"king of the hill".
Its a diss towards Cyprus hill.
