The only WNBA team in recent years that tried to purposely tank for the number one overall pick in the WNBA draft was the Phoenix Mercury in 2023 when they finished that season with the W's worst record of 9-31 which included losing 16 of their final 19 regular season games including their final 11 games in which they lost by an average of 12 points in which the team shut down Diana Taurasi a month before the 2023 season ended so they could have a better odds of obtaining the # 1 overall draft pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft.

I honestly don’t know how I feel about it for the Aces. On paper, yes Jewel Lloyd is an elite addition. But Jackie and Jewel are literally the same player. I like this move more for the Sparks and Seattle as of right now.
I think LV did it because they didn't have any picks in the first round this year (due to the league sanctions).
how did L.A lose, plum is a top 10 scorer in the league and reports say she want to stay in L.A long term even after the new cba, second pick is either kiki iriafen or olivia miles, good players but not scoring machine. vegas is the one who have to worry about jewel leaving after 1 year.
@@johnnlouis2386 you don’t just trade the second pick in the draft. it’s basically a free pass to at least an all star for four years. olivia miles could/would drastically alter almost any franchise
@j.a.y.j.a.y.15 that argument only works for paige or juju for me, if not i would rather have the ncaaw second all time leading scorer on my team.
@ fair. i also just heard kelsey plans on staying in LA
4 days to go then everything will, hopefully, make sense.
HEY QUITA.......OOOOHHHHH WEEEE'
Storm gonna have 3 2026 first round picks? Since they already have sparks 2026 pick.
I can’t praise those gangsters in Seattle ( Pokey and Noelle). Mr Prez says LA got a good deal. Plumdog is a Southern Californian girl and will resign with the Sparks
I don’t really like the Storm or Aces. The Sparks are more likable and I think unbiased fans will be hoping they make the playoffs this year.
Thank the lord the crazies at the sky headquarters didn’t give up our pick for jewel. They had me nervous with what they did with chennedy that they had any competence at all at their jobs up there 😅
Let’s Go Sparks!!!..⚡️⚡️⚡️ But I would have drafted Olivia Miles at #2 and Maddy Westbeld at #13.. Again the Sparks have #9 pick which they could use to draft Morrow or Fudd..
Draft is going to be crazy this year. I’m sure we will be shocked at some of the picks.
Who should go to the Fever?
Win for everybody!
Lol this headline is like one of Mick's
How? It's not Caitlin Clark obsessive.
I’M NOT GONNA LIE, THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING!!!
The Aces only get Jewel Loyd guaranteed for 1 year as well. So that's a risk as well.
Do you mean Kiki Iriafen instead of Flaujae?? 🤔
it’s crazy cuz the aces did not have a pick this year cuz of the law suit now they have a pick and they got much needed scoring now we NEED A CENTER and like two bench players better if the younger ( if they somehow still get Kah in the future too 😮)
Who is we? Sky? Fever? Aces? Sparks? I can’t tell. Good centers do seem to be in short supply these days though.
@ the aces need a center bad the rebounding and blocks were super low and Aja can’t doing it all on her own
Remember the 2022 wnba All-Sttars jewell scored30 points & named the MVP and Kelsie sored 29 points. We’ll miss you Kelsie you can still slay the wst coast!
La needs to maximize cam brink
With this trade and Seattle getting the number 2 pick and already having Skylar the sky’s chances of getting Olivia miles at #3 just doubled. I’m still not holding my breath on her coming to chi town though 😫
on paper it feels like seattle won trade . . . lets see what the draft pick turn into imo
Is Flau'jae a Senior? Or, are underclassmen allowed to declare for the draft?
You can declare if you turn 22 in your rookie year and she does turn 22 in November.
I'm sure they talked about it behind the scenes that Kelsey plum will resign with LA before they made the trade
This is only a joke! Maybe Sue Bird negotiated the trade for Paige so she will go to Seattle. The whole thing has been orchestrated! Paige didn’t want to go to Dallas or LA. If this isn’t done Paige said she would play another year in college. Ha ha ha…jk…😂😂😂
Hmmm. We will see I guess. You could be right.
I hope players going to LA right now realize how much the cost of living is going to be if they did not already have a house before the fires started.
They most likely resign her I don't think they would have made the trade with know intentions of resigning her
The only WNBA team in recent years that tried to purposely tank for the number one overall pick in the WNBA draft was the Phoenix Mercury in 2023 when they finished that season with the W's worst record of 9-31 which included losing 16 of their final 19 regular season games including their final 11 games in which they lost by an average of 12 points in which the team shut down Diana Taurasi a month before the 2023 season ended so they could have a better odds of obtaining the # 1 overall draft pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft.
The Aces can get a big in free agency. Howard, BG, EDD, and others are available. But KP needed to go. I believe they still have Queen and Kitley might play this year.
I love Plum to the Sparks. Love Jewel to the Aces. Hate it for Horston at Seattle. They got nothing that will help them win now, so more lean years ahead.
Another thing the Aces get another pick. They already had 2 picks in the second round. The 13th pick is a solid pick. Don’t let PaoPao be available.
KELSEY PLUM SAID SHE WILL WORK OUT A MULTI YEAR DEAL
Jewell Lloyd is old. 10 years of wear and tear. Shot a career low 36% last season.
She is but if u think about it.. she won’t have so much load on her with the aces
NO KELSEY PLUM WAS OFFERED AN EXTENSION IN SEPTEMBER SHE REFUSED TO SIGN OT BECAUSE SHE WANTED TO TEST FREE AGENCY. THEN NATALIE WAS FIRED AND BECKY AND COMPANY PUT PRESSURE ON KELSEY TO SIGN KELSEY SAID NO SO BECKY CORES HER. KELSEY THEN GOT MAD AND ASKED FOR A TRADE.AND TOLD THEM THAT LA WAS WHERE SHE WANTED TO GO
Was thinking aces should make a play for loyd
LA management is incompetent. This s a terrible trade.
