Thanks for doing this video!
We've been working on this game for a long time, it's good to see someone enjoying it.
Thank you everyone for the nice comments here also, much appreciated
You're welcome! Really love the game. The combat is fantastic! It feels like a classic retro arcade game but with fluid combat and a massive moveset. Awesome work! :)
@@AlphaBetaGamer I love the little combo you did at 1:40 uppercut, back-dash into cyclone kick (d,up+attack)
You played well! There's a few grapple moves you haven't found yet though.
The "giant swing" will make you invincible during the animation, so that one is recommended in hard areas! (grab then rotate 360)
Thanks again for playing!
Will this be on Steam?
Will this be on console as well like switch? I really love it. I haven't seen any martial arts beat'em ups ever. And this game has caught my undivided attention.
@@devollution7158 Yea it's coming to Switch, Steam PC, maybe GOG, PS4, XboxOne and maybe more later.
The full game has some traditional training modes, including Karate Kata's, Kungfu forms etc :)
Thanks for checking it out
Okay, this looks hella awesome. I love the retro style and the high octane action. Also the over the top cheesy dialog is awesome.
There's plenty more cheesy dialogue in the main-game! :D
Glad you like it!
I was stationed in Okinawa for two years and this game is accurate to the island. There is lots of rain and lots of ninjas. You just can't see the ninjas however.
I feel like this would have ruled the arcade back in the day.
I’m Japanese and I live in Okinawa. I love it. No one hate the video about their home country.
I'm so glad you like our game.
I hope one day I can visit Okinawa for real
Is Sams By the Sea still open?
04:02
"I hope you don't mind that I brought some guests."
"oh, and whom might they be?"
"my FISTS!"
Then proceeds to kick some serious ass!
Another awesome game, thanks ABG!
*hits him with a stick*
That whole line of dialogue was so damn 90s that couldn't help but face-palm with a smile on my face.
@@andrewowens4421 You mean 80s. One liners were phasing out by the mid 90s.
Is it just me or does it sound like the VA said "bought" instead of "brought"
Its akuma going on a raging demon spree gonna give the people a shun goku satsu
This reminds me of something you'd see in an arcade back in the day :)
Really captures that fast paced action arcade vibe. I love it
I like how it uses sound effects from those old school martial arts movies. I haven't had much time to play it but it's a great game that gives me vibes from the Nintendo and those random arcade games at the candy/liquor store days. Highly recommend for us 80s kids.
This is glorious!! This is a love letter to Japanese culture, 80's action films, side scrolling beat em ups and so much more, I'm literally melting over here lmao, THANK YOU!
It kinda reminds of the good ol' days of Amiga games. But a LOT more awesome
This looks like an Arcade game from the early 90s in its visual style and design.
Thank you so much for the video! :D ~ publisher
You're welcome! It's a great game! Glad to spread the word! :)
Update:
after some feedback (a few people complained of the jumping being too floaty)
I've made a new build of the demo.
The jumping is now more consistent and heavier. The player can still leap far - but only if they hold the button longer.
Regular jumps are much shorter. I think it feels better now, but let me know!
Thanks for playing
ps if the game updates correctly it will say *Version 0.8* on titlescreen
wow....as a gamer who grew up in th 80's / 90's, i am utterly impressed by this...the minute i saw this in action i felt the deja vu.....yet, the game has a lot of depth...more depth than would be possible from an arcade action game from that era.....really cool game
Just pre-ordered three physical copies. The pixelated graphics grab us vintage gamers by the nads!!!!
Thanks so much! We've been working hard on this, everyday for many years now :)
I'm glad there are people out there who appreciate all the work!
@@SteveFusionX Sorry my friend but the thanks is owed to you! Cut my teeth on the Atari 2600, Nintendo was the console that killed summer and super Nintendo is about where I got out of video gaming as a kid but now that I'm back into it and these absolutely gorgeous pixelated masterpieces are everywhere it's like hitting the lottery as a kid and reaping the rewards as an adult. No way to thank you for what you do you have kick-started my childhood once again in my mid-40s and for that I am forever thankful keep up the good work I will continue to back you guys 🤘🤘
Wow, this is exactly the kind of game I was looking to play! I looked it up and the game is actually coming out 21 & 28 of October on PC and Switch.
I just found out about this game yesterday and watched some gameplay now and I'm going to be picking up a copy soon
Didn’t you do a video of this game 4 years ago? Certainly looking more polished since then! 👍
Yeah I covered an early build of this back in 2017. Really love the combat in this game! :)
I remember seeing this game years ago. It took a long time but it looks like it turned out great.
Feels like an arcade game from the movies or the pizza joint in the late 80's early 90's, the american naif nippon-filia of the era i also wonderfully recreated
Pixel art work is incredible
Dude, more of this game please.
It's awesome.
I like this Game
Absolutely fucking rolling from the guests line 🤣🤣🤣 This looks amazing
I would have given this game SO many quarters back in the day 😁
Holy shit! Watching this made feel 30 years younger! I'm going to buy this game right now!
Oh I’m digging this!! I can’t put my finger on it but it reminds me on one of the very first game boy advance games. Either way I love the nonstop king fu action adrenaline rush!
Just played thru the demo and will be picking it up day 1 on switch. Hope that limited run will do a physical as well.
Edit- just realized there’s a small run of physical copies going for $60 by vgny
This game reminds me a lot of my training in Okinawa.
I'd love to visit Okinawa one day!
The full game has lots of training modes, including traditional kata (Seienchin, Sanchin etc)
Thanks for checking out our game :)
This actually looks pretty fucking awesome. Love the cheesy dialogue as well.
gameplay looks floaty as all hell like the characters have no weight, but i love the high energy production values
I've since updated the demo -version 0.8 has the jumping and gravity adjusted!
Thanks for the feedback
@@SteveFusionX You are a guy who works on this game? I have played demo of this game quite a lot now and i love it. It is just amazing. Gonna buy it when it comes out, it is just that really good.
@@azmunt6855 thanks so much! If you have a playthrough video, I'd love to see it!
I work on this project every day, and I try to listen to every comment or suggestion.
This game might be the baddest ass game I have ever seen !
Oh man, the overall sound design really puts it all together for me that gives it that authentic retro vibe. Straight up sounds like something out of a 90s Midway arcade or a Williams pinball machine. Now THATS some nice attention to detail. Def going to try to get my hands on this eventually
It's like Karate Kid 2 from the NES, but the character has the soul of the Doom Slayer.
That's a great description! Haha
Man, the Second Samurai sequel's looking pretty great
Looks great, I'll definitely keep an eye out for this one! Combat looks fluid and impactful, great stuff! That boss' design is giving me some real Ninja Scroll vibes with his blocky, stone-like face.
Yep, it was inspired by Ninja Scroll! the boss even has a fatality move vs the player - where he headbutts you into the ground :)
@@SteveFusionX Oh wow, I was actually right? Haha, well you definitely nailed it with his design - I'll have to see if I can proc that fataity move in the demo!
Looks like Segata Sanshiro is back from his eternal training...
Hang on...the blue boss which were you die it's called Rockman (like Megaman but in japanese) also, that last laugh reminds me to the laugh of Smash Daisaku from Gunstar Heroes.
Can't believe that Tessai beat you!
Koreso........MESSATSU!!!!!
If you would have told me this was a Genesis game I wouldnt even doubt
Wow this is cool! Will subscribe
You guys have to complete this game and make physical copies for PS4 and Switch !
we're working on that right now! Testing the Switch version in a moment :D
This looks ridiculously cool.
I just found this channel, this is FIYA!!!
This is amazing gotta luv that 90s arcade style with a modern tuch.
Simple, fun, yet compelling game. Good job.
Looks very reminiscent of The First Samurai on the Amiga :)
First Samurai was certainly one of the influences! We played that on the Amiga as kids :)
Exploding Fist 2 is also an influence along with newer games like Tekken/Sf3
@@SteveFusionX that's very awesome it's probably largely a forgotten game now so have been using it as influence brings it back to life somewhat :-)
@@SteveFusionX the influence is superobvious starting with the intro .. but I don't mind.. at all! Ah yes Exploding Fist.. on my c64.. and also International Karate + on max speed 😄
Powerful work
This game kinda reminds of Kung Fu from NES.
This was badass!
get a nice amiga/ st vibe from this
Amiga was our Golden era! Big influence
@@SteveFusionX looks fantastic, will be buying :)
@@gez9145 thanks so much! Hope you love the fullgame . It has a lot of content! 9 endings to collect
Damn I'm liking what I'm seeing so far.
Holy.. well that intro music man
This looks like the baddest game ever!
Looks really cool
I saw this gameplay video on my phone and was like DAMN i have to play this.
yo action platformer with street fighter combos? thats pog
Ryu: THATS MY BOY!!!
Just watching this is way more entertaining than playing modern overly complicated ultra realistic garbage games.
This looks like a fun game - sort of like a Kung fu Metal Slug.
More like budo or martial arts Metal Slug. Kung Fu is chinese and this is set on Okinawa.
@@JV-ll1cu one of the playable characters is a Chinese Wing-Chun master, who travels to Okinawa on boat.. so, you're both kinda right :P
Awesome!
Wow incredible
that guy is the martial artisit version of doom guy: too angry to die
reminds me of this old game called The First Samurai.
OH YEAH! WHAO! So Classy!
AMAZING!
Damn Dan cant catch a break in any series
Already, I want this game. When will it come out?!
working hard everyday to get it released soon!
Thanks for checking it out :)
This game remind me the game of the first samurai from amiga and snes.
Pre-ordered for ps4
This has all the Amiga feels...
Off the chain
Hopefully this will come out on PS & Switch.
Switch & PS4 versions are coming :)
@@SteveFusionX
Release date?
First samurai reboot
Oh no! My Sword!
This reminds in old flash game called the super house of dead ninjas on Adult Swim games.
Sold!
Somehow reminds me of Jazz Jackrabbit.
Jogo lindo demais. Parabéns.
Looks really awesome. Can't wait for the full game.
Do you know if it's compatible with an arcade/fight stick? I've tried to play the demo with mine, but it always ends my game every time I press the start button.
It works on my arcade stick (venom)
Please make sure you have latest version of the demo 0.9 it should say on title screen.
be sure to go "controls" on title screen and map your buttons (they will be in weird places by default on Arcade stick! i'm testing it right now)
Also in steam joypad settings, try putting either to "default" or disable steam inputs.. See if that helps.
I'd love to know if you get it working, so please reply (I'm the dev btw) 🙏
Dan Hibiki's dad?
DOPE
This game was inspired by First Samurai the game
This reminds me of shareware games back in the 90s
Ayyy, you too?
I never had the full versions of anything, just a bunch of shareware that I played all the time.
@@dr.velious5411 haha never registered my games back then, I was pretty happy with what I got.
My mouth is drooling like Homer Simpson right now. Okinawa rush…… mmm,mmmmmm…….. garrggguhurrllggg…
Has a very SEGA Genesis feel.
This looks awesome but the airborne controls look janky af, momentum means nothing to this man. Would be better if there was more weight to it.
I totally agree about the airborne controls. Not sure if the dev is trying to channel floaty Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon style movement but it makes the jumping incredibly imprecise. I really love the combat though!
Thank you for the feedback guys. We'll send it to dev.
@@AlphaBetaGamer there is a "flying mode" like Crouching Tiger - if you do the meditation room at 2:52 in your vid (light the candle)
Originally, I meant for the jumping to be like the 'Ninja Spirit' arcade, quite floaty.
There are lots of options, mid-air fireballs, off wall kick, down+attack is an axe kick and d, u +attack is a dragon punch (mid-air)
Amazing
if this was more polished, not as floaty and a little more metroidvania sim type it would be amazing
Will it be available for classic consoles?
E x c e l l e n t
the inclusion of a time limit is a bummer really
The time limit is only on "expert mode" (as in this video)
You can play on other modes and story mode doesnt have time-limit :)
Tekken vibes
There's a few things that could make this a great game; higher difficulty level overall, stop treating people like idiots with this DANGER stuff everywhere... Lower the ennemy count because it looks ridiculous and annoying... Finally, make sure to sync the guy's movements with the movement on the playfield to make it more appealing to watch. I do hope this game gets released and wish also that it meets highest expectations. Hey cheers...
Thanks for the comment :)
There's already a range of difficulty levels (you can choose the belt colour and then go to secret "Dans" and Master/Nightmare modes)
The "danger" stuff is taken off on hard modes.
High enemy count is what games the game fun, especially on later stages; being able to handle hundreds of ninjas without dying (or even being hit, if you know how to parry!)
I appreciate the feedback and I'm always fixing stuff up, the jump mechanics for example have been improved now.
What controls are??? how change controls on keyboard??? :(
I like sssooo need this 👺
Scorpion + ryu
Could easily bring this to mobile
