    I wish there were more doctors like Dr. Sandison. Thank you for having her on the show.

    I will add Dr. Sandison’s book to my summer reading list. I enjoyed her demeanor. Wish she could have talked more about the protocol. I’m curious if it has evolved since I first read Bredesen’s book years ago.
    I appreciated that she commented on Dr. Ornish’s most recent study. Frankly, I hope all of these doctors continue to find ways to expand and refine their studies because more research is needed about the specific interventions that actually work. As she pointed out, this type of work is expensive. I really appreciate Dr. Sandison’s (and Bredesen’s) interest in functional testing. Though that’s also a sore spot for me because I’m left asking myself: “Are these functional tests science- and evidence-based as these doctors claim?” I will say that what Ornish has going for him is the cost of most of his interventions are more accessible for the average person; Bredesen’s has never been accessible. When I inquired years ago they told me about the reCode Protocol has a maintenance fee on top of the costs of the supplements. Then the costs of doctor’s visit! It’s the sad reality of seeing functional medicine professionals. Hoping the work continues and the “helps” become more focused so the expenses are better justified.

    Excellent job. Thanks for sharing your experience & knowledge with us. Those of us with cognitive impairment have hard choices to make. We like to blame doctors but really, taking a few pills is much easier than changing our diet, getting the much needed exercise, challenging our cognitive functions & learning new skills. It all makes sense and we know we must do it........but we are lazy creatures of habit. It is up to us.

      Well, you have 2 choices - be lazy and get dementia or do the lifestyle changes and have healthy cognition into old age. I am so focused on brain health to prevent any decline so I can live long independently. Easy for me! Nothing is hard about the lifestyle but i do whole food plant based over keto.

    One could say that the power of positive thinking can overcome a disease or disorder. You stated that individuals think that a certain drug is reversing their disorder even though it may only be working on 30% of patients, yet those 30% could be the people with that positive mindset.

      Yup, that's the placebo effect and has to be controlled for in studies.

    Psychiatry has done nothing, treatments are ineffective for far too many, diet can be life changing, aerobic exercise drains TAU and Amyloid. Focused Ultrasound looking at specific parts of the brain has recently shown a lot of promise at Berkeley. People NEED effective treatments, this isn't just for people who have lost everything to bipolar and schizophrenia disorders but now countless people who show longCOVID signs. All mental health conditions are interrelated. People don't just deserve pills that don't do anything!

      @@TheEnergyBlueprint I am pointing out what I believe to be are facts. I am watching the full video now. but yeah I guess the thinking is that alzheimers is not "amyloid or TAU" but rather microtubules...something something. all I know is exercise is a powerful intervention for "draining" whatever the word would be, amyloid, Tau, influencing microtubules etc

    I would like to add on someone else previous comment. When my neurologist makes me take an MMSE test and the questions are always like: what date is today? and what floor are we on? If I fail to answer those questions the fist time, next time I'll walk in my neurologist office I'll make sure to know those answers beforehand. That is just to say that if MMSE tests in US are performed as they are here in Europe, then they are good for nothing.. or almost nothing

    At 50:16, Dr. Heather Sandison states that the brain prefers Ketones over sugar for fuel, In fact, the brain prefers glucose over ketones and is one of the reasons Dr Dean Ornish suggested a vegan diet in his study control group.

    • @lynnsanelli1838
      @lynnsanelli1838 2 месяца назад +1

      I totally agree with you! It's a known fact that the brain prefers glucose to fat. Mercola has been talking about that a lot now. He was wrong about keto.

    • @TheEnergyBlueprint
      @TheEnergyBlueprint  2 месяца назад +1

      That's correct. It doesn't mean though that ketones don't have some sort of corrective function when the body malfunctions.

    • @raykinney9907
      @raykinney9907 2 месяца назад

      But, Ben Bikman seems to have knowledge that ketones ARE preferred, and offers mechanistic explanations that are good clarification IMHO.

    • @raykinney9907
      @raykinney9907 2 месяца назад

      And, seasonality of foods in medium to high latitude seem to require that glucose would be far less available much of the year, and fat burning ketone metabolism would be necessary for most survival thousands of years ago.
