A lot of people are misunderstanding what I'm saying in the video, or just commenting before they finish the video, so let me be more direct:
Black Ops 6 Zombies is a fun, addicting game mode, but I don't feel like it's Cod Zombies. I don't think Zombies should stay the same and never evolve, I just feel like they went too far from some of the core mechanics of Classic Zombies and fundamentally changed the gameplay loop. When I say "Treyarch Ruined Zombies to Save it", I'm saying they intentionally stepped away from classic zombies to make this new thing that sort of looks like it (which has lead to record player counts).
Again, I'm not saying Black Ops 6 Zombies is a bad game mode, I'm just saying it's not CoD Zombies quite yet. There are some nice changes they've made since I made this video like the mangler spam being toned down, and they released a banger of a map in Citadelle Des Morts.
I'm not one of those people that is blinded by nostalgia and thinks a billion-dollar company should bow to me and make all these changes. Clearly, Black Ops 6 Zombies works for a very large amount of people and that was their goal. If you enjoy it, I'm glad you do. But for me, when I want to play Classic Zombies, I simply won't boot up BO6, it's no big deal.

I started playing zombies in waw but if zombies never evolved after say bo1 everyone would be complaining that the treyarch never tried to innovate the game mode and that it's becoming stale . Like it or not change and innovation are inevitable whether good or bad it just is what it is. Classic zombies will never return and that's not inherently a bad thing the whole franchise is completely different than what it was in 2010. Innovation is necessary because that’s what zombies was all about. Zombies started out by taking things already established in multiplayer and campaign, and turning it into a brand new experience. Every game after that made unique innovations to the mode that we didn’t see anywhere else(boss zombies, buildables, gobble gums, etc.). At times it felt like you weren’t even playing call of duty with how different zombies felt to the rest of the game. The problem with this new era of zombies is that it doesn’t try to innovate in a way that the old games did. The majority of the “innovations” are just MP and Warzone mechanics just slapped into zombies with no real effort to make them play or feel differently. Four years later and we still have the same problem. Everything in this game does the exact same things CW did but better and while yes there is a difference in how some of the mechanics function it’s not that big of a difference to write home about. That’s why me and a decent amount of people are just unsatisfied with this game not because it’s too different but because it’s not different enough.

@@_playa_ but they didn't have jetpacks in black ops 3 zombies. advanced movement in zombies absolutely does matter, because it means you can simply jump away from the zombies extremely easily any time you're in even the slightest danger, this is actually also a problem in bo3 when it comes to sliding, and treyarch counteracted that by making zombies prevent you from sprinting when they hit you, they later removed that due to community complaints, despite its objective necessity. Tranzit was absolutely not just a random town, like it's absolutely insane to conflate it with liberty falls, seriously, compare the town survival map with a similar sized area within liberty falls. the latter is a complete joke.
also funny because advanced warfare had jetpacks, but unlike treyarch in bo6, they actually added an EMP zombie to disable them, which, personally, I think is bad game design, and jetpacks shouldn't have been in the game in the first place. but at least they tried unlike treyarch.

I think the biggest hit to the classic zombies feel (including a lot of the fun) is how little you have to worry about your loadout. Point per kill means every gun is a point gun. Ammo boxes are everywhere so you don’t even have to consider how much stock ammo you can hold on any weapon. Picking your loadout on startup means you never have to search for a wall buy or gamble the box for your favorite weapon. Wonder weapons don’t even feel special anymore when you can triple pap your starter gun and make it shoot lightning or fire or ice or void or turn zombies into your own minions.
This is clearly why there’s such a problem with artificial difficulty. Using your guns wisely and weighing out chance from the box or going for a consistent wall buy where you can buy ammo from, or which guns would be your point gun which did low damage but had a lot of bullets and your damage gun were major decisions that could only be developed through practice of any specific map. They ripped away all strategy from the game so difficulty scaling sidesteps strategy entirely. You go in with your one gun your grinding a camo on and kill stuff the same way you do with every gun, take a total of 4 minutes to open up the whole map, max upgrade your one gun then exfil. Repeat. All while never having bought a wall gun or mystery box cause, y’know, I’m trying to grind camos. Just remove the starting loadouts and a lot of the other issues wouldn’t be that bad anyways but they’re currently on full display.
tl;dr the game feels bad cause you never ever have to swap out your starting gun

    • @s3b0seban69
      @s3b0seban69 Месяц назад

Then don't play it that way. Don't make a load out. force yourself to get a wall gun and have strategy like you are wanting. Just because it's how you want to play zombies doesn't mean it's how everyone should be forced to play. I work nearly 13 hours a day and don't have the time to learn every weapon and map for every new COD or update. I want to get home from work have a few beers turn my brain off and see how long I can survive till I die or get bored. Just like I did when I got home from school as a kid. It honestly feels like all the training and extra shit was added so people could say "oh I'm better at zombies then you cause you're just a casual and I do all the easter eggs and spend 5 hours getting to wave 999" when all I hear is I have absolutely no life.

We all know that the og zombies experience is the best but let’s be honest it’s hard to get into for anyone who didn’t really grow up with it there’s so much that a new player would have to learn by now that they’ll just want to play other things where they don’t need to think. Bo6 is a great introduction game for new zombies players because it gives them good gameplay has a difficulty spike and eventually they’ll wanna do the Easter egg after playing for a while might look into zombies yt videos from there and will be more willing to try the old zombies experiences and fall in love with the game-mode and want more. Bo6 isn’t perfect by any means but it’s a good starting point for new people to get into. For old zombies fans it’s not too bad has engaging Easter eggs has had the zombies community booming since launch and this is the closest our community has been since bo3 days, the gameplay is decently engaging allows for some dumb but funny moments and the augment system is actually pretty neat and allows for a little progression which we didn’t really have as much with old cods, Cold War had a similar progression system but it just wasn’t as good and felt more tedious than a fun grind.

One big point I don't see a lot of people making is the fact the most of the guys at Treyarch that worked on WAW throughout BO4 have left. Most notably Blundell, Daniel Cheng and Ken Harsha. Add that to the warzonification effect and it's not hard to see how unlikely it is for zombies to be truly great again. And all of this is coming from someone who enjoys both CW and BO6. Awesome analysis btw =)

Treyarch are doing just fine imo. They cant go back to old zombies because you cant keep making the same stuff over and over because we'd get tired of it. The only problem I have with bo6 is the stupid point system. And now my absolute unreal fantasy would be for victis to come back from the dark aether and have some sort of black ops 3 movement with them, or a classic zombies gamemode with remastered maps. And the cherry on top: custom maps. Again, this is very far from reality. Is it what I got? No. Am I gonna piss on the game because my unrealistic expectations didn't match the reality? No

The classic period of Call of Duty Zombies was 2008-2013. BO6 and CW were released almost a decade after this ended with COD's core gameplay having underwent significant change in this time. It was bound to happen that zombies would change from where it originally started. Making zombies accessible to a wider audience isn't a particularly bad thing and may encourage people to go back and play the older games to get a better experience of them.
Totally agree with you about ammo crate spam though, having one ammo a la ammomatic would be a good idea

  • @WolfHeart98

The new strategy is hoarding points in the 20s by doing side Easter eggs for free perks and weapons/upgrades. This gives incentive to use each map to its full potential, and requires skill for living on less than what you need- avoiding purchasing perks and the like. Later rounds you have to use those points for traps as the zombies are hard to kill. Terminus is great because you can get everything you need from fishing, if you can survive that long- unlimited perkaholics, ray guns, weapon upgrades, etc

I didn't start playing zombies until after Bo4 released although I started with Bo3, and I'm terrible at the old games. I rarely get past round 25, and when I do I die in the 30s, but I enjoyed it. I liked having to get to 30 and then working for a slightly higher round PB being my goal.
Because I don't like doing Easter Eggs, playing Bo2 and Bo3 is all about beating my PB, although it's not insanely high, I didn't care because it was fun and difficult. (I could never go higher anyways because I mostly avoid using WWs lol)
I love playing CW and Bo6, they're incredibly fun and satisfying games, and are my favorites to turn on and mindlessly watch something in the background, but they aren't goal fulfilling. I got to 200 in CW with little to no effort and only really did it because I had nothing else going on that day. In Bo6 I was working towards round 100 for the calling card but failed in the 60s, but it wasn't fun and I haven't really attempted it since. Every single game in Bo6 I exfil on round 31, because playing above that is tedious and a waste of time, I don't even feel accomplished for getting to 31 like I used to, and I wouldn't feel accomplished even getting to 100 because it's more of a time sync than it is an achievement.
I'm fine with the direction CW and Bo6 took, because the games are incredibly fun, and tbh I love the camo grind, and I am the target audience when it comes to the dopamine release. They just need to tone down the miniboss spam and find another way of making the game difficult (Scorestreaks are definitely the biggest issue for player strength imo.)
I personally enjoy forcing the game to be similar to at least Bo3/4. I spawn in with the 9mm Pistol with no attachments, don't allow myself to build scorestreaks or equipment, only allow myself to buy 4 perks (But I'm allowed to get more from SAM Trial rewards), and I only use augments that feel like they fit in the classic games (Turtle Shell Jugg. Dying Wish QR, and Electric Cherry EP, are my favorites to equip because of the old perks being combined together)

As someone who's been a huge Zombies fan since early BO1, while I can definitely respect people's preference for the old points system, it really frustrates me when people rely on the claim that the new points system "limits play styles" or player choice, as an argument against it, as after over 300 hours in BO6 zombies, I've found the results to be quite the opposite. Of course there are flaws with both, and of course personal preferences are allowed, but I just feel the claim about limiting options is fully unfounded. With the old points system you were HEAVILY punished for using low RPM, high damage weapons, which meant that 99/100 times, players are funneled to the highest fire rate, lowest damage weapons, whereas with the new system, barring explosive weapons, any weapon type you use where you're consistently hitting headshots, is just about as viable (if you're skillful with the weapon) as any other. You like snipers? Shotguns? Semi-auto rifles? You can succeed with them. You simply cannot say the same for the old points system. Yes you could use those weapons, but you would be putting yourself at a significant disadvantage by doing so.

9:15 i think it goes back to the thing you just said about other playstyles. That devs brother was using his own play style, which was a style about killing the zombies asap. He got bullied off the game to a point he didn't want to play again. I don't think the system change because it was complicated or too hard to understand it was that certain players are total dicks and will bully people off the game for not playing optimally to maximize points.
12:35 "..it outshines anything else you could put in that slot" that's exactly why they removed the limit ever since bo2 or 3 the cod devs have been trying to elemnate the "crutch perks" which is basically the 4 perks that basically every player uses on 90% if maps
Jugg, Speed, Tapp, and Quick once you've used all 3 reves stamin-up. There wasn't good reason to take most other perks because they were too situational or just weren't good. Basically, anytime one of the big 5 wasn't used is if it wasn't available, and usually people would just find the next best perk like everyone taking Electric Cherry on MotD

True, people say that play styles were more varied in the older games but that’s not really true, majority of the player base were using the exact same weapons, launchers, snipers, and even several pistols and full auto weapons were overshadowed by either the best shotgun or fastest killing weapons in high rounds, with having all weapons viable and perks not limited, players can play in any way they want without being forced into a certain way to do things, I can agree maybe the point system can be improved upon, but the concept is a good way to create diversity, something the older games had a harder time doing. If there is maybe an increasing point system, where in early rounds it’s the same way we have it now, but like around 25 or so, the point system increases by a certain percentage so that high rounding is not a constant kill streak fest, I don’t know, I just know that high rounds are only difficult due to ammo being a need and points being drained within seconds. Either way, there are good and bad in bo6, but that’s within every game so it’s normal.

Small correction, jaaon blundell changed the point system in bo4, it's mix between the current kill system we have now and the dmg for points system, you can get points on damage but it's a fixed amount.
Having a perk limit is just gonna reintroduce the crutch perk problem, perk limit was just dumb, keep the inflation system it works.
Armour is definitely a resource management, zombies do more damage as rounds go on, without armour you get 1 shot, the risk to armour is having to plate up, you're forced into hipfire so you're less accurate and with less accuracy zombies have a higher chance to hit you before dying. Maybe they should remove the hipfire ability and slow you down by 20% then would y'all be happy? They already gave us the turtle shell augment but people bitch about getting 1 tapped because there's nothing to protect the front.
Also zombies was never survival horror, resident evil is survival horror, they play nothing alike, zombies is an arcade hoard shooter, like killing floor. Call of duty is an arcade shooter, why wouldn't zombies also carry over the arcade aspect? If anything zombies is way more arcade than multiplayer

I’ve thought a lot about the new point system. And here’s my opinion.
It’s actually a decent system. I enjoyed the old point system like all the classic zombie players (played since the OG map dropped in WAW). But the thing about the old system was, it rewarded more bullet spam to maximize points. Early game everyone including myself would always choose the semi auto rifle over the shotgun. And in bo6 zombies this would really limit explosive/shotgun/sniper guns. Which is like 1/4 of the total guns. Especially since there is a camo grind for zombies now it would handicap you so much for trying to get camos on those gun.
So I think the new system is still really good. Reward headshots and knifes over body kills so there is still a skill factor but it’s not per bullet, but rather how you kill them.
But that’s just my thoughts. Everyone should play the way THEY ENJOY and that’s all that matters at the end of the day!🙂

A few things, this game since BO3-4 was leaning more and more against having YOUR GUNS as you could loadout your guns for wallbuys or box pulls even back then with your "classic" Zombies. In BO3 you had gobblegums which arguably were even more powerful since they just changed the same things, but each of those things are more valuable in Bo3, with PaP being only one gobble gum away but it's the down payment that is only followed by elemental pop flavor choices. Double tap being a flat double damage (ignoring the increase of fire rate), and lastly. They ALLOW a player to start with anything. If you don't want to use the items, DON'T leave it on the base 9MM or with the GS-45 for the classic 1911. Given the change in the game's movement system in each game, expecting the SAME map design and the SAME enemy design is only ever asking to have a game repeated for years. I have been playing since WaW, played every map (even if I don't like BO3 because it's ONLY about the slide cancel movement, walking in as tight of a circle around zombies you can normally walk about as fast as and wait on ammo mods to do everything WHICH IS NOT INTERESTING. I train even up to round 50 in BO6, I learned tricks to enjoy the game further, looking for the easiest path is not the ONLY path. And late game of Bo1-4 would NEVER allow for camping like this game has.

I think the ideal solution here is to just release a hardcore mode featuring all the changes mentioned in the video. That would effectively give BO6 zombies easy, normal and hard mode, so there’s something for everyone.

Its great that people are enjoying the game but classic fans shouldn't feel alienated for having an opinion and a preference, this game is 100x easier and doesn't appeal to most classic fans, that's fine, it does appeal to warzone/multiplayer fans which is fine, but having something for classic fans would be massively appreciated coz obviously a lot feel left out and forgotten

Idk about the perks argument, most players would push for the same 4 perks constantly, jugg being a staple basically always lol,
In bo6 progression goes into the late game, purchasing all the perks slowly fits well with the gameplay updates.
Hell even in black ops 3 basically everyone used perkaholic which in that game is arguably more OP then all the perks in CW/BO6, the perk limit was honestly the best thing they could’ve changed, and it eliminates the idea of crutch perks when you can choose literally all of them
Plus, with your arguments on the hud, i get it but also its all customizable, you can even remove those badges, and hud, i removed basically everything on the screen that wasnt classic.

FINALLY! Someone in the comments who understands the point of modern zombies! The loadout system, the point system change, the wonderfizz. These are here for BUILD SPECIFIC design.
In classic zombies, what did you do if you wanted to use a sniper, a shotgun, or a melee weapon? You simply don’t. Go find a points smg and start grinding until you can spam an infinite damage tool.
In Cold War, I can CHOOSE the grenade launcher as my starter. I’d then need PHD slider and mule kick immediately because… THAT’S THE PLAYSTYLE I CHOSE and I’m building around it. Suddenly, a wall weapon is useful for the early game because of the strategy in my gameplan.

I feel like the change in the point system was for good reason, it opens up options for guns. Back in old zombies, it sucked getting a shotgun or sniper out of your first box hit because you would be super behind in points. Some weapons were just unusable early game if you wanted to actually get set up. I personally liked using a sniper in early game zombies, it was fun, but it always felt like I was punished for it. In the new system it doesn’t matter what type of weapon you have, you won’t be help back by your lack of point gain. You don’t need a “point gun” anymore. Don’t get me wrong, this is a moot point after you are all set up, and it decreases the skill of the game, but I think it’s more fun to be able to use fun weapons early game instead of having to stick to an AR or smg

a simple fix should be to cut mangler spawns in half, like half the amount of spawn instances & half the number of manglers per instance spawned. also to make up for this, increased zombie spawns or maybe some random occurring speedster zombie that is super dodgy and fast but not tanky. these are just my spitballs but i feel bo6 zombies would really
benefit from a change of this nature.

  • @NapalmerIron

I consider myself to be the number one Napalm and shrieker zombie fan and so naturally I want to bring up how good they were as bosses. The shrieker was much faster then normal zombies and it’s blinding shriek was a huge threat when faced with a horde while the Napalm zombie had a much higher health pool which could make him an obstacle when you’re training, however the fact that you can use the napalm zombie as a makeshift fire trap was a huge plus and even the shrieker could be used to stun zombies when it died. And I never see anyone mention that the napalm zombie can sprint if it’s the last zombie in a round and is shot, scared the hell outta me as a kid

I’m really hoping that they add the other games to game pass soon so that I can experience the early zombies

I feel like the new map has fixed the artifical difficulty problem a little bit best map yet. The tight corners, confusing hallways and narrow hallways has me dying trying to revive my friend around round 30-40 due to getting cornered by a horde in a hallway. There still are alot of amalgums sometimes but it does feel like less than the other maps and the new mini boss is pretty easy to kill and the elemental swords make the amalgams easier to deal with. But if your swords special attack isn’t powered up and you get cornered by a hoard you are basically done for because the sword can only kill one at a time while swinging

Nostalgia is the death of progress. What would you gain from getting the same exact thing over and over again?
I think the solution is a stand-alone cod zombies with multiple modes. Give us classic round based without all of the extra features, pve extraction, modern round based, and maybe some other modes. Multi-player with a zombie threat? There is a lot on the table.

Great input, you hit alot of the points I've felt across the board. Been a fan since WAW where my cousin and I would spam frags on the stairs as a top tier high round strat 😂.
They should just make a separate mode called "classic" on any map where it would only allow you the 4 perk slots and the old point system on BOps6 and call it a day.

  • @NotAustii

I’ve been really enjoying BO6 zombies but I feel like it’s not a survival mode anymore. In classic zombies, you spawn in a small area with just a pistol and have to work your way around the map to turn on power, buy perks, find equipment parts, etc. Now most of these things are handed to you near the start of the game and the focus becomes less on survival and more focused on how many headshots can you get before round 30.

The old point system worked in the old games cuz guns didn’t kill in 2-3 shots. I think you should earn more per kill in the new system, but we don’t have pea shooter guns anymore. The weak guns of the old games was a draw back for me. A round lasting 30-45 minutes cuz I need to hit the box a dozen times to get a wonder weapon is kinda lame.

I love how corporatism finds it's way into every aspect of our lifes.
Played BO6 with an old friend, his last game where we really played zomvies together was BO3 and after an hour we went like: "I don't get it. I thought Zombies was supposed to be about getting a gun out of the mystery box and thinking about which perks I want with my limit?!
I never played Liberty Falls and yet, we made it to round 20 the first time?! Why is this so easy?!"
And I actually stood there for a moment and thought to myself that a guy who hasn't been active in this community for over 10 years dropped a banger statement without realizing.
BO6 feels so soulless. I went and after 12 years, I finally did the Origins Easter Egg on my 5th try and I immediately remembered why this mode got so popular in the first place.
I get it, main stream appearance and all, let's water down everything to make every last aspect as appealing as possible to as many people as possible. Movies and TV shows have also fallen victim to that and it killed creativity and don't get me started on the whole AI situation.
The fun part about games is not that they are difficult or easy, it's that they are engaging and make you think and I can't see, even after being half way done with the video, how modern zombies does that.
If Treyarch is so keen on stripping the game of everything that made it unique, at least give us a mode to let us play how we used to.
No mini map, no weird numbers in the middle of the screen, no loadout, no cheap "get out of jail free card by using a streak" and so on.
And all of that makes me sad btw., because I think the camo grind, as well as the progression outside of a single run is the best we've had and it makes me want to come back.
But then I'm in a match and realize, that this zombies doesn't resemble the versions we got in WaW, BO1, BO2, BO3
