    The top ends of both Damage Resistance and Damage Reduction have steep diminishing returns far as I can tell. Like, I am slightly disappointed that my full set of Overeaters X0-1 with Emerg. Protocols, and Lone Wanderer, allegedly "100% damage reduction" if totaled up together, does not in fact make me invincible. For how many thousands of modules it took to roll those pieces I kinda feel like it should...

      1000s of modules? You can roll a full set of OE in about 400/500 modules easy. I rolled a full set of OE hellcat and Unyielding Artic marine with 750 modules....

      Get OE with sentinel and add ricochet while holding a vampire weapon. That's the way to go LOL not quite immortality but close

      It doesn't work that way. It's multiplicative, not added. You are adding up the percentages, which is why you are not getting the results you expect.

    Vanguard loses effect from 1 shot

      Vangaurd scales down to 50% hp, afterwhich it goes away. The issue at hand is that damage resistance has diminishing returns based on incoming damage.
      As a simple scenario 100 incoming damage vs 200 DR will be reduced to about 40. To bring that to 20 you would need about 1100 DR. Having armor two times the incoming damage value is the point where you start losing a lot of value. From this we can figure that Vanguard's will only have good value if incoming hits are greater than about 150 before anti armor, and even then only for the first few hits, as VG diminishes to 0 over the first 50% of hp.

    If someone wants to min/max their damage output Unyielding is the way to go. If someone wants to become a walking tank Overeaters is the best option. From what I've heard Assassin's is the only option for PvP. Almost everything else is a waste of a roll.

    I love your scientific approach to testing things in the game. It’d be nice if you could use a custom world or the PTS to be able to turn off the damage cap and other settings that inhibit full/true testing.

    High health = over eaters
    Low health = unyielding
    It’s unfortunate that it’s really that simple but it just is. Outside of PVP there’s really no reason not to use either of these armor types.

      True on that. The only time I use low health and Overeaters is in Hellcat P.A.

    Damage reduction is all-around choice taking Encryptid event or Decryption DOP into consideration

    Damage resistance has a point of diminishing return where it’s not really going to do anything and damage reduction has a hard cap of 75% ( at least that’s what it is for those legendary effects for damage reduction of specific enemies so I assume it would be the same for general damage reduction if it’s even possible to reach that ).

    I've always noticed percentage reduction has out performed damage resistance, I have also noticed after around 400 resistance it's effect tails off very quickly, if you add other armour effects such as reduced when still, sprinting etc it should get even more interesting but I don't know if each piece the same stacks... such as 15% chance to reduce damage by 75% does four pieces make it a 60% chance to reduce damage by 75%..

    I understand this is regular armour, Im using PA currently, and was advised to only use Overeaters with full health build. Im wondering if a mix is better ( say 3 Overeater, + 3 Vanguard ) to avoid diminishing returns for the Resistance of Vanguards?

      Damage reduction is always better than more damage resist. Vanguards in power armor isn't something I'd ever recommend. You already have so much resist and reduction built in, that you will either barely notice it or not notice at all. An alternative to overeater's could also be a mix of different enemy specific pieces (troubleshooter's, mutant slayer's, etc).

    Yeah, vanguard is nearly useless. If you have a TON of health and reduction/resistance, it might buy you a couple of hits in this situation. On Power Armour, it's a little better because you stay nearer full health even in a bullet storm, but Overeaters still outperforms it at all health levels.
    It can be a reasonable "eh, I'll take it" roll on gear for a stealth character where you mostly get hit by stray shots when they're sweeping fire in your general direction. I can't come up with a situation where it would be the optimal choice, though.

    hi could you perhaps do a video on assasins vs unyielding on this test im curious now if overeaters is this good vs vanguard but im wondering if unyielding will be better or assasins vs overeaters

    This video was so healthful alway wonder what was better. Seems like overeater better that secret serves armour. I hve full set of ssa but mite have to change lol. With the overeater how does the food and water have to be full for it to work??

      Under the effects section of your pip boy, it needs to show fully fed and fully hydrated to get maximum effect.

    Is the Overeaters perk available on the raider amor (not powered)? I've been trying to roll for a set, but can't even get a piece of overeaters.

      Yes. It's available on any armor. RNG being what it is in this game, you can go long stretches without seeing what you're looking for.

      I have a full set of Overeaters Raider PA. I've had a lot of 1 star and 2 star pieces drop during events. I'm pretty sure that I have received non PA Overeaters as well.

    is overeaters still worth if you're running a bloodied build?

      For low health you should run unyielding for regular armor, otherwise you are missing out on too much of the benefit to that playstyle.

    Thats kinda a weired test, first i thought u wanna test for PvE but then you made it clear its for PvP purposes. Well isnt the Assassin effect absolute superior for Pvp?!
    More intresting would been PvE, but i can tell you already Overeater is top for PvE unless i do Sheep Squash imposter event- there i use Troubleshooter PA. Even a full set of Overeater/Sentinel PA feels a lil bit weaker than a normal set of Troubleshooter PA (both with emergency protocols)

      Doing the test in PVP was the only way to get consistent results. It wasn't a test for the purpose of doing PVP. I state that in the video.

      Im still not sure if i understand the purpose of this test but ok.
      Cause if you wanted to test Res vs reduction then the Assassin set would have given more Reduction, is what i wanted to say.
      Overeater is for PvE and Assassin for PvP.
      But maybe you just wanted to test Vanguard vs Overeater for whatever reason

      ​@@vargrath3238 This wasn't a PvP test. He wasn't trying to figure what was the best armor for PvP. It was a test to find out how good Overeaters is, also to show how ineffective Vanguard is.

      @@vargrath3238 Weapon and Enemy damage can vary between variants. Some creatures may even get distracted by other creatures nearby, and pull in more to affect the test. a Controlled environment between two players means you both know how much damage a weapon deals, and can see the differences easily without having to compare frame by frame how much health you lost.
      It's about as good as it gets unless we get enemy spawners with specific weapons.

    For those interested, the difference of the overeaters effect was from 4->5 shots from a vanilla gun which will never be the case. Vs having your standard +300 resistance being a million shots. So I'm not saying overeaters is overrated, but it's over rated lol.

      So contrary to popular belief it's generally far more effective to aim for your standard 300 plus gear and then just jam a God damn auto stim with first aid then die one bullet less which is who cares. Then stack that with life savers.

    And now imagine assassin set with all cards in pvp. No damage dealt at all. Pvp was buried along with energy explosive weapons. And still no pvp mode at all. They gave it up completely but it's a mistake. Most of the people playing this game are seasoners who come and go ,sometimes they return to playing ,some of them not. They don't buy 1st for a year for sure. The core are players who play regularly and this number decreased firstly since Nuclear Winter removal and later when they tried to tinker with weapons and other things. They should leave NW and legacies for PVP mode only. I'd interestingly watch the graphs with number of active players since the launch till now. And how many of them had 1st subscription

      I have gained about 80 to 100 people added to my friend list who I regularly played NW with. Now only about 10 of them still play.
      Removing NW was a bad decision and it backfired tremendously.
